The imam in our area does NOT get paid that much. he actually gets paid peanuts for the amount of time he spends there. The previous imam who had a degree from Al Azhar as well as a Phd in another field had to finally quit because he couldn't raise his family at the salary he was being paid by the masjid.

It’s not liberals who have dirty, twisted, and sexist views on women. While it’s true that liberals liberate women, run the porn industry and brothels or whatever but it’s conservatives who are their loyal customers. Liberals consider women their equal no less or more. They bother understanding the physiological differences between a man and a woman and respect a woman enough to treat her as they would any other human being. Conservatives treat women as if they are still living int he 7th century. Not only that, they impose rules on them.
O and for the record, the biggest porn watchers come from the most conservative countries.

having a dirty/twisted mind, and using/promoting women as sex object - are two different things. Its not conservatives who are sponsoring "SLUT" walks. its not conservatives who hang sexy posters of female models in bikinis in malls outside VS stores.
and please can we not discuss this "O and for the record, the biggest porn watchers come from the most conservative countries". Its just creeps me out when people condemn consumers more than producers of a product. USA govt is running after tobacco manufactures and not tobacco users.

You dont need to be of any specific qualification or rank to be an Imam. I am sure that all the males on this forum lead a prayer at a gathering of Muslims or in office. When Niks is saying Imam, she means a designated imam of a masjid. Most of the times, those imams are alims because that is what committee looks in them before appointing them. But yes they can be sufi or peer too.

As for the topic, it would depend on the kind of lifestyle my daughter wants. Its just like a politician is bound to have a diff type of lifestyle i.e the timmings, work, etc same goes for other professions like an Imam, engineer, etc etc. So it would really depend on what my daughter is open to.
If you ask me, if i would? my answer would be no because i don’t think i m that “religious” and i suppose that won’t sit too well with an imam . And they eat too much
