Shoaib is a bully .he verbally / physically abuses woolmer quite often (very reliable inside source) just like he did irfan pathan.
we have to live with out him in next 6 months or year why not kick him out now and groom gul, asif anwer ali. aik machli saaray taalab ko ....
i was reading an article in thenews by khalid hussain he mentioned something of shoaib doing this and also some1 in this forum said he wanted to ruin inzi innings, but i do agree it would b shattering if we lose this match after that innings!
First of all, the clip that was shown yesterday was the incident that happened in the dressing room and was capationed "trouble in the camp" or something similar. It looked really bad, with Shoaib shouting and pointing fingers at Woolmer.
Secondly, it does come as a surprise because Shoaib was so down-to-earth and humble in his interview with Ian Bishop. Hopefully he does have a hamstring injury, otherwise things are not looking good for Shoaib.
well we still don't what exactly his injury is first they were saying its hamstring and now they are its something else.i don't know if shoaib wants to get back at pcb for dropping him or what.because i dont see how injury can happen overnight.may be woomer is right about him faking injury
Why one has to blame every thing on Shoaib?
As a team member can he not ask a question aas to why the team managment is so flexible and forgiving in case of specialist wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal? who is clearly becoming a liability for the team influencing its loses due negligence and poor pethatic performances?????
I hope to god that at least 'he' Akmal stops with this 'come on Danny Boy' Koi baat nahi Daaany! ,,,, without relaying any remorse for his POOR form,,,,,,every one contributes to hard work while one spills the beans all over the turf?
well your right there shouldnt be preferential treatment between shoaib and akmal. whenever shoaib gets his ass on the ground i'll be the first to stick up for him for any beans he spills.
^ His ass is very much on the ground. However if all the John Doe decides to make his personal life and issues as 'ground zero matter' then there is nething left for discussion, is there?
^ Rainy bhai, dropping of Shoaib was NEVER for "performance" reasons at all, so comparing him with Akmal is like comparing apple with rotten orange. Its the ego clash in the camp. If performance is evaluated then lots of our team members will be out of the camp.
i dont know the status of his hammy but this brought back memories of that rawalpindi test against india, the way he has parked himself in the dressing room!
Are we going to see a clip of what was supposedly caught on camera of their argument?
I think if it is true that he is doing this like he has done before, then we are dealing with a really immature chota ganda bacha bowler...
better kept on a leash if in the team, otherwise better left out and forgotten.
PCB can say that about Azhar Mahmood.
I think we underestimate the strange nature of Shoaib’s body. Obviously the abnormality that gives him his pace and bounce is the same thing that causes all his injuries - it’s typical that the source of the greatest strength will also be the source of your weakness. With all Pakistani talents, the key is to manage expectations - work with what someone has shown you they can do and not what you hope or think they should be able to do.
*I don't think we should doubt the authenticity of his injury. He should not have, however, created all that drama with the coach on the field in front of the cameras. *
Pakistan trying to know reasons behind Shoaib-Woolmer altercation](http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/holnus/007200701220310.htm)
Karachi, Jan 22. (PTI): Pakistan cricket officials are trying to find out the reasons behind an alleged altercation between fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar and coach Bob Woolmer in the second test against South Africa on Saturday.
Just before it was announced that Shoaib would be unable to bowl in the South African second innings as he was struggling with a hamstring injury, television pictures showed him having a heated altercation with Woolmer in the dressing room.
It was the addition of another chapter in the colorful and controversial career of the “Rawalpindi Express” who returned to test cricket on Friday with a stunning four wickets performance to put his team in a strong position to level the series at Port Elizabeth in South Africa.
Officially the reason given out for Shoaib not bowling in the second innings was given as a hamstring injury but the Pakistan Cricket Board sources said they were investigating how serious the injury was and what had led to the altercation between Shoaib and Woolmer.
“The pictures were not a very good advertisement for Pakistan cricket and for Shoaib who returned to the team after a six-months layoff and after last month being cleared of doping charges and having a ban set aside by the appeals commission,” a source told PTI.
The enigmatic Shoaib is no stranger to controversy since he made his debut in 1997 and it is also no secret that he has had an uneasy and at time stormy relationship with captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and Woolmer.
Shoaib had to face a medical inquiry after a lost test against India in Rawalpindi in April 2004, when in similar circumstances he came out to bat, but didn’t bowl afterwards at the fag end of the long Indian innings claiming he had a hamstring problem, leaving Inzamam unhappy and leading to him showing his emotions in the dressing room in full view of everyone.
The inquiry however cleared Shoaib of faking his injury but afterwards he was not selected for tours to India and West Indies under Inzamam’s captaincy in 2005 with the selectors insisting he was not match fit.
Ironically the same reason was given out when after being cleared of a doping charge, he was not picked in the original touring squad for South Africa earlier this month and only went to South Africa on the intervention of Nasim Ashraf, the PCB chief as young pacer Umar Gul injured his ankle
Former Pakistan captain Moin Khan said, the incident was not a very good thing to happen to Pakistan cricket when it was in a position to win the test and level the series.
“I really don’t know what could have led to it, but definitely personally I think if a player is performing leave him to himself, tolerate his antics to ensure he keeps on performing which is good for the team,” he said.
**He also noted that Woolmer had a habit of poking fun at players and maybe he might have chosen the wrong time to niggle Shoaib. **
But board sources said, they had asked manager Talat Ali for a complete report and initial inquiry suggested the altercation occurred after the coach and captain were told on Saturday by Shoaib, he had a hamstring problem. “Apparently Woolmer told him, given the match situation he should take pain killer injections and try to bowl,” a source said. It is not the first time Shoaib has got himself into a controversy.
Does that mean Shoaib is the only sensitive one…
proly not…and the comment seems really away from reality. Who knows..
KARACHI: Maverick fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has been fined by the Pakistan manager Talat Ali following his spat with team coach Bob Woolmer during the second Test against South Africa in Port Elizabeth last week.
A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official told this correspondent that Talat conducted an internal inquiry into the incident that was beamed across the world by sports channels and decided to fine Shoaib for misconduct. The official refrained from giving any further details.
“It was an internal matter of the team and we do not want to turn into any kind of a major issue,” said the official. “An inquiry has been conducted and the player involved has been fined by the team manager. Apart from that we would want to keep focus on the cricket, especially after our team recorded a very memorable win against a tough South African side,” added the official.
Pakistan won the second Test by five wickets on Monday to level the three-match series 1-1 and one of the heroes of the memorable victory was Shoaib. Shoaib was shown exchanging hot words with Woolmer on the second day of the second Test in Port Elizabeth on television.
Later that day, Shoaib, who took four wickets in the first innings to help Pakistan skittle out the hosts, did not bowl in the second innings because of a hamstring injury. His absence from the field sparked rumours that the bowler may have refused to bowl after his fracas with Woolmer.
However, it was later confirmed that Shoaib tore a hamstring muscle while bowling on the opening day and may also be suffering from a recurrence of a knee injury. He and medium pacer Umar Gul, who is suffering from an ankle injury, are scheduled to return home later this week.
Well well well...
I read this and the following clear thougths come to mind with the earlier reports of what was aired live:
We always put down INZI for showing personal animosity, whereas, from these events it is clear that (a) Leaving Shoaib probably was due to lack of fitness and not a grudge from Inzimam.
Inzimam mostly tries to settle disputes among the players, and in this case even b/w the coach and the bowler (from what was shown on LIve TV.)
Shoaib needs to stop acting like a wild jackass. Period.
