No one is blaming the victim here for a rape if and when it occurs.
I was born and raised in the US and have many many many non-muslim friends from school and work. I have always seen them being careful and making sure they go out in groups, going to the restroom together, sticking together even in the places they visit.
Practising caution should be common sense. I would get mad if I saw two girls stumbling around the streets, drunk out of their mind. Its HIGHLY likely that those girls will end up in some sort of trouble. Is it right? No. Should those girls be more responsible for their own safety and for their own sakes? Absolutely!
This isnt a blame game at all people. Its reinforcing common sense. Dont go to bars alone, dont accept drinks from people you dont know and dont go home with someone you just met. Why? Because the chances of something going wrong are higher.
The rapist WILL and SHOULD be punished, he is by no means exempt from a crime because he was presented with an opportunity. However, the rapist isnt your friend and owes you nothing. Whose job is it to protect themselves? The rapist or the woman?
All of these things sound nice in theory but practical life demands something else. What difference does it make whose fault it is when a woman has to live with the rape for the rest of her life?

When a guy rapes a girl, he is causing trauma to the girl and he should get the entire blame. We are not discussing being careful or cautious. We are discussing blame. And no one but the rapist is to be blamed for his atrocious act.

A woman who gets intoxicated beyond her limits has a HIGHER chance of getting in trouble...much higher. No one is interested in who is to blame after a crime as heinous as rape occurs. Do you think an actual rape victim's pain is any less just because a judge decides to punish her attacker and put it on paper that it was all HIS fault? No.
"What can be done to make sure it doesnt happen again?" is the more productive question.

Women shouldn't feel worse than they already do after getting raped! Stating that they are partially to be blamed must feel terrible! Again they should be more careful and cautious and have common sense but accusing them and saying it's partly their fault is despicable. And that's what the people have said previously. They are very much playing the blame game.
And anyways thinking of ways how to prevent this was NOT the point of this thread. The point was to determine whether the girl should be blamed in some instances.
