Look I know what the average intelligent male thinks. You can not blame a woman for something that is out of her control. Rape is an external action forced on an individual. You can not blame a woman for that.

There are many situations where if it happens...its unfortunate and the person had no control over the circumstances...
but there are other circumstances where if the victim was acting a bit more carefully things could have been avoided. thats NOT the same thing as saying she deserved it or she should take all the blame.

In some cases yes. Definitely not on a legal or social level where they should be punished by any means...but on a personal level, i would say, yes.

^ Right. And thats why its good to be in decent clothes/attire whenever you go out in public. You cannot change ppl's mentality or make them close their eyes but at least you can be careful urself. After all it goes only in your favor.
A victim is a victim whether its a male or female...so its not the victims fault if he/she gets raped

I have a question for all of you who are saying it's party a woman's fault. If a homosexual man gets raped, is it his fault? And if it is, what could he have done differently?
Btw, fully clothed individuals get raped too.

I think its much more than JUST the way of dressing. Its about being decent, overall.....whatever the definition of decency is in the culture. And in some cultures, its not even about what you wear but your actions.
I dont know bout in other countries but in the US schools teach about drugs and alcohol and how those things can impact a person's judgment and land them in a bad situation. That's a preventive measure, educating them on something before it can happen.
If you avoid all precautions and preventive measures then doesnt it make sense that u take responsibility for the consequences?

When you rape someone you're invading their personal space and so much more, you have got to be inhumane to do something like that to another human being. In this case there is a victim and a predator...so NO, it is no way the victim's fault

Everybody has a choice and most people are taught the difference between right and wrong. you are responsible for your own behaviour only. if someone else decides to assault you, be it physically, mentally, emotionally, sexually, that's a choice that individual has made. You aren't responsible for it. Why? Because everybody has a choice and most sensible men will not go out and rape a woman on the street if she's wearing a mini skirt. Why? because they know the difference between right and wrong. A rapist is responsible for making the decision to rape another individual.

If someone gets raped, its partly their fault (the victim's)...so both are to blame
If the predator decides to have meherbaani on the person wearing a miniskirt and doesn't rape him/her, does he get a cookie for his good behavior (avoiding temptation)?

Staying vigilant and cautious is one thing - which should be the case at all times. I don't think anyone would invite an assault on purpose. Rape is pretty much a hate crime, you can be all cautious and what not, but you can't be sure of what might trigger an assault of that nature. I don't see how you can blame someone for being bitten by a rattle snake - just because they were wearing shorts. But yes, one should be aware of their surroundings, and act cautiously.

That's exactly what I'm trying to say....everybody is responsible for their own behavior.
I'm not saying the rapist has an excuse or he has a "right" to do whatever he wants--he definitely deserves to be punished. Even in those very very few situations where it could have been prevented--a rapist is still a rapist and deserves the maximum punishment.

No it's not their fault but what about cases where girls/women go out partying, get drunk beyond control and then get raped? That's where they need to take some of the blame as well. If you're gonna lose control of your ownself and present the opportunity to men, don't go around crying later.
Recently, a girl got 'raped' in the parking lot of a club in the wee hours when she was walking to her car totally drunk. She fell asleep in the car, woke up the next morning, went over to the cops to report rape, and after investigation, she was told it was consensual and not rape.
