Re: Women driving, is it halal?
"Generally, it is impermissible for a woman to travel the distance of three days (equivalent to 48 miles) without her husband or a Mahram (unmarriageable kin) accompanying her."
My records indicate the correct distance is 47.9 miles.
haha well nowadays you can go around the world probably 1.5 times in 3 days
lets get this straight
Generally, it is impermissible for a woman to travel the distance of three days (equivalent to 48 miles) without her husband or a Mahram (unmarriageable kin) accompanying her. There are many clear narrations of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) in this regard. 1) Sayyiduna Abu Said al-Khudri (mayAllah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him & give him peace) said: Let no woman travel for more than three days unless her husband or a Mahram is with her. (Sahih Muslim).
2) Sayyiduna Abd Allah ibn Umar (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: A woman must not travel for three days except with a Mahram. (Sahih al-Bukhari, no. 1036 & Sahih Muslim).
3) Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: It is unlawful for a woman who believes in Allah and the last day that she travels the distance of one day and one night without a Mahram accompanying her. (Sahih al-Bukhari, no. 1038).
4) Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: 'A woman must not travel except with a Mahram and a man must not enter upon her except if she has a Mahram. (Sahih al-Bukhari, no. 1763).
i find it a little weird that a statement which was probably said once has been narrated differently 4 times by the same guy
i think the saudi law is ridiculous. and agree totally with what TLK said with Ayesha as an example.
Re: Women driving, is it halal?
Saudis got the law wrong. Saudis are not the authority on Shariat, in fact they are stupid when it comes to defining Islam. Ayesha (RA) rode back to Madinah, not only alone but actually in the company of a Na-mehram, and Quran swore upon her sharafat. Find me a hadees which says, even after that incident, that woman riding a camel (driving a car) alone is haram.
She also led a war ( Jang-e-ja'mal ) after Post Usman ( RA) era .. ask these people who was her mehraam then ? :)
Btw the war was named Ja'maal as she was riding a female camel in that war ...
Re: Women driving, is it halal?
I also hear the venerable Jalebi bai has also set similar precedence.
Re: Women driving, is it halal?
Okay...so who got banned and made you their multi?
Re: Women driving, is it halal?

Debatable/unsure/stay away from it if you can/no harm if you don't.
Re: Women driving, is it halal?
^ Humara haardhik dhanyavaad sweekar karein!
Re: Women driving, is it halal?
No. It's not halal because they can get it on in the backseat. This is how the automobile changed morality in America and everything went to Hell.
Camels, on the other hand. I'm guessing people will be less enthused about being undressed when they're exposed to the elements.
Re: Women driving, is it halal?
LOL - go do something else

Re: Women driving, is it halal?
Another issue that may arise in areas like the Middle East and Pakistan is that guys love chasing girls travelling alone. They could simply be poonds or they could be criminals. You may have heard of the girl who got chased by a car in Karachi and was eventually raped. Would you then as a parent be comfortable with your daughter driving back home at say..10pm?
Re: Women driving, is it halal?
no we will teach our boys with morals and ethics not to disrespect, chase and rape girls driving alone :halo:
Re: Women driving, is it halal?
Will you also take the theka of fixing all the immoral guys who are already out there?
Re: Women driving, is it halal?
The latest fictitious Interpol reports indicate there are ravenous ladies out there chasing down unsuspecting guys. Hence froom now on, all vehciles shall have double occupancy - no males will be allowed to drive alone.
Re: Women driving, is it halal?
**Considering that Islam tells women not to leave their houses unless accompanied by mehrams, **does that make it haraam for a woman to drive on her own? Have the Saudis got it right? Well I'd say they have, it's like killing two birds with one stone, you're shariah compliant AND you have a lot less dangerous drivers on the road.
NO.. there's a distance you can travel without a mehram.. there's nothing about not being allowed to leave the house without one.. Just certain backward cultures teach otherwise..
Women used to ride camels themselves.. it's not exactly that different..
Re: Women driving, is it halal?
women parallel parking should be haraam
Re: Women driving, is it halal?
Most women shouldn’t be driving for safety reasons…the safety of those around them. And I’m only half joking. Men and women can both be bad drivers (take risks) but the number of women I’ve seen who are downright incompetent is mind boggling. It’s like watching my grandma trying to play COD.
Also, how does one get a car into a kitchen? ![]()
Re: Women driving, is it halal?
Women driving is YA HHHHAAAAAARAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!
Re: Women driving, is it halal?

Re: Women driving, is it halal?
