Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard

Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard

why do you believe that Allah Ta'ala missed out on some things that we have to go look around elsewhere....?

Again, I never said nor suggested that Allah MISSED out on anything. NOR I believe that the Prophet pbuh went around making this halaal and that haraam based on his own whims, desires and inclinations or that anything found in the authentic hadith contradicts the Quran in any way

Salat is in the Quran...that is how our Prophet was taught...how did he pray?? did he get his information out of the sunnah? no....he was guided by Allah...by the people who were already familiar with the concept of salah....

[/quote]

So are you saying that you believe the Prophet pbuh learned how to pray by some people living in his time who learnt the Salah from Prophet Ibrahim?

Anyways, I think your message itself speaks for the evidence of following the sunnah "he was guided by Allah". His actions, his words...he was guided by Allah. He would never say this is halaal when Allah did not make it halaal. He would never say that is haraam, when Allah did not make it haraam

exactly...
and yes...salat has been preserved since the time of Prophet Abraham (pbuh) in practice....but it was modified/corrected and passed on by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)..you do believe that all Prophets(pbut) were Muslims..right?

Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard

Hmm thats a tough one! Let me check with my husband and get back to you on that…:layd:

PS THAT WAS A JOOOOOKE!

**

Midnight..Hadith is for historic purposes not religious...

Given that the authenticity of any hadith is nullified by the fact that the Prophet(pbuh) himself prohibited his Ummah from writing or documenting hadith, which makes the whole idea of the text a very shaky matter....why did they not obey the Prophet(pbuh)....?? when he asked his Ummah to preserve the religion in your hearts....so that the Ummah couldnt be divided based on fitna...divisions...multiple takes on Allah's Kalaam...etc...

PS...many hadiths contradict the Quran..and themselves....

Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard

hmm beard doesnot add to attractiveness , as most women would look prettier without hijab. However if one believes in death and life after death one should not let these petty worries take control of their life. If women become hung on to the concept of beard then they might lose a perfectly great guy at their own expanse. Vanity is a sin for a reason. On the other side i would say a guy needs to be steadfast in doing what he thinks is right. No one should control other.

Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard

should keeping shoulder length long hair be considered a sunnah too?

Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard

When we talk about sunnah, the emphasis is on things which the prophet (saw) HIMSELF specifically told people to do. Hence riding camel should not be compared to keeping beard. I remember the prophet (saw) saying in a hadith to keep all head hair of equal length, whether small or long. (In one hadith, he discouraged trimming of hair only from sides and not from top, which a lot of Christians of that time used to do). The prophet (saw) also shaved off his hair during Hajj, usually he kept his hair up till ear lobe or near shoulder length.

Kindly correct me if anyone has an authentic source to share. I don't remember the exact source at this moment. Allah knows best!

Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard

Kindly consider the following for knowing about the Prophet (saw) hair.

Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib (ra) states:

"I have never seen someone with long hair and red clothing more handsome than Rasullullah (saas). His hair reached his shoulders."

Anas bin Malik (ra) says:

Hazrat Aisha (ra) reports:

"The blessed hair of Rasulullah (saas) was longer than those that reached the ear lobes, and shorter than those that reached the shoulders."

Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard

chanda kh

plz dnt get into matters tht u dont understand...ur saying sunnah shudn't be followed r u serious? is tht a joke!

ok lemme give u an example

if u go uni u r required to attend lectures no matter wat! they put notes up on a site etc which may take u say 20 mins to read thru! but will u understand it in the same depth tht ur friend who actually attended the lecture which took about 2-3 hrs to be diliverd!? its simple isn't it...yes we can read the Qur'an and grasp the understanding of things! y wud u not follow someone who has been given the knowledge directly from ALLAH y wud u not follow tht person who has been already promised the highest status among alll the Prophets[AS] only a dumb person wud not want to... its only logic to follow someone whom knws the inside out of things! i mean if ALLAH has reveald such a amazing book the ruler of this world and the next our Prophet and tht person is a WALKING Qur'an then y the heck wudn't u follow in HIS[pbuh] footsteps! am jus asking u on a logical basis

@AHMED
and someone abov askd if we ride horses is it sunnah...think b4 u mock religion bro coz u wont make any friends! becuz ur mocking the ways of the Prophet and ALLAH doesn't take tht lightly!!

Hey if you cannot keep your calm and cannot leave your prejudices aside you should not take part in these discussions. Nobody is mocking the ways of our Holy Prophet(SAW) , I take him to be perfect human bieng and I am the one who said that we should be riding the horses and camels as it was sunnah of Hazrat Mohamammad Mustafa Salalal Ho Alaihay wasallam.
Because the argument people make about keeping beard is that since he had beard all his life and he asked people to keep beard so it is wajib on us.
Same argument can be made for riding on horses and camels instead of modern means of transportation.
Same argument can be made for going to wars with just swords , bows and arrows and by riding on camels and horses as this has been sunnah of Holy Prophet (SAW) and he told people to do so many times. Even it is mandated in Quran to keep your horses ready and in good shape for Jihad. Also Allah had sworn on Horses in Surah Adiat , that makes it mandatory to ride horses instead of tanks ,and trucks etc.

Why do we pick and choose, then, when it comes to Sunnah ?

Yes of course since he clearly instructed us to ride on horses and camels instead of modern means of transportation???

:smack:

Yes he did tell them not to write the hadith, this was during the period when the Quran was still being revealed. So you can see why it was prohibitted, people were still not strong enough in their knowledge of Quran, they might have gotten the words of Quran and hadith mixed up, especially if they were written on the same scraps. After the revelation of the Quran was complete, the danger of something like this happening obviously was gone

Anyways Chanda…I guess we can only agree to disagree, because we keep going in circles…for me the Sunnah remains so much more than an interesting piece of history to read in my free time…

Im out :dannyboy:

Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard

"Because the argument people make about keeping beard is that since he had beard all his life and he asked people to keep beard so it is wajib on us."

Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard

Same argument can be made for riding on horses and camels instead of modern means of transportation??????????????????????????????????????????????

what!!!???!!! i have no words 4 such ppl

Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard

ok first of all...no one is rejecting anything...because there is nothing to reject.....you read sunnah...for the sake of 'understanding' the time period.....the conditions.....the way people lived at 'the time'....its not the law....the law is the word of Allah...for god's sake...
secondly....why are you implying that people have to 'follow' things like the beard..the hair..the dress code....anyone who follows the little details...its their choice.....not fard..not the law....i hope you dont misunderstand where i am coming from...ok...

Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard

dnt think anyone said its fard... thts y its sunnah a personal choice..

thts wat its being said...in this thrd tht...wife shudn't really stop their hubbi of keeping beard...as they have the right to decide to keep a beard...its their face their hair their choice...so y wud family or wife have any disagreemnt? thts the topic...isn't it
