Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard
Salah has been passed down.....and I doubt that it is the teaching of any Khalifa.

Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard
No he's not a real khalifa, thats just his last name, he lived in the States, died like 20 yrs ago or something. I only mentioned it because the article you posted is written by his followers, who dont even usually call themselves Muslim, they are the "submitters"
Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard
^I dont know who they are...or what you are talking about.......I read it and cross referenced it with the Quran at home.....the quotes from the Quran in the article.......
I have gora friends..who are new converts...who read and understand the Quran...and have the utmost respect for our beloved Prophet(pbuh)......they dont have the right to call themselves Muslims just because they believe that Salah has been passed down from Prophet Abraham(pbuh)??
Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard
Chanda I am not judging anyone or saying that someone doesnt have the right to call themselves a Muslim or that someone isnt a real Muslim or anything like this. I dont think I ever posted anything to that effect and if I did Im sorry for it and take it back because thats totally not what I meant
I was only mentioning that that is their article from their website, and yes the quotes are from the Quran, they accept the Quran even though they dont call themselves Muslim
Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard
Midnighteyes..thats ok..i just dont want you or anyone else thinking that..it kinda hurts… thanks ![]()
Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard
For sure it hurts and not only that but its so wrong, no one has the right to judge anyone or think they are better than anyone else!
I remember a story of during a battle once a Muslim fighter was fighting with one enemy and just when the enemy was about to lose he said the shahada but the Muslim killed him anyways. When the Prophet pbuh found out about this he was so upset and asked him how could he kill a Muslim and the guy said, that he only said that to save his life he didnt really mean it, and the Prophet pbuh asked him, did you cut open his heart and see whats inside --like meaning how could you judge him, only Allah knows what in his heart!! And same for all of us!!
Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard
yes...i get "Quran A Day" on my FB...:)
I prayed before signing in this morning...lol...asking Allah to give me a sign....i know..i know...anyway..i want to share what I saw...
[2:269] HE grants wisdom to whom HE pleases, and whoever is granted wisdom has indeed been granted abundant good; and none would take heed except those endowed with understanding.
I really don't want to get into this thread too much just to avoid conflicts. All I'd like to say is that we, the comman man (or let me say woman) do not have the ability or education to translate the Qur'an without the help of qualified aalims and ulema. Yes, the Qur'an is indeed a complete book with guidelines and rules, dos and don'ts, etc., but the Prophet was sent down to us as a messenger to relay the Word of Allah (swt). As a muslim, I am obligated to believe in the nabi (pbuh) as it is clearly stated in the shahadah. Since you and I cannot understand Qur'an's each and every ayah, I say it is safer to follow the sunnah of the Prophet. I don't think anyone is claiming that Allah or his Word are at the same level as the Prophet. At the same time we cannot reject the sunnah.
Borther Mirch, beard is wajib, like witr salat. Eating khajoor and using miswaak are not wajib but they are highly recommended acts.
However, having a beard is one's personal choice and as a wife I would hate to ask my husband to keep a beard considering that I do not wear hijab. That would be very hypocritical. However, if he is comfortable having one, like Shay's husband, I would encourage him.
Niksik, I dont think I ever said anything about rejecting Sunnah...i regard it as "supplemental notes" for the Quran...
Our Prophet(pbuh) did not have the power to come up with anything extra..in addition to the word of Allah...he didnt write it..instead he asked people to practice what he was preaching...not write....because he knew...people will use the writings for this purpose...
I do find it odd when people take the texts and make them look like an addition to Allah's Kalaam..I still dont know where people are getting the information about Allah making the beard wajib....

To me nothing is wajib if it is not made wajib in Quran. Why is miswaak not wajib , it was daily actually 5 times a day practice of our holy Prophet(SAW). He has time and again told people to perform miswaak. Now the people who say beard is wajib they say it is wajib because it is Sunnah of Prophet(SAW) and he told people to keep beard. Hurmat of beard is not coming from Quran , it is coming from Sunnat and hadees. So is the Sunnat of miswak. and many others which people who deem beard as wajib , do not deem those sunnah as wajib.

To your surprise you will find that people have been killed and are still being killed for some acts for which Allah has not prescribed a death penalty, they take their proof from hadees. They are not even willing to give a benefit of doubt to those people by taking their cue from Quran instead of Hadees. Prime example of it is stoning to death of married zani/fornicators. I consider this act of stoning to death a murder and I think those who prescribe stoning to death for this act are exceeding the hudood of Allah(SWT) and they will be answerable to Allah. Allah has clearly said in Quran that do not break or exceed the hudood of Allah ( boundaries prescribed by Allah).

Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard
So what does it mean to "Obey the Messenger pbuh" if it does not mean to do what he instructs you to do, act like he instructs you to act...and where else do we find these instructions except in the hadith?

No you're right, he didnt. He didnt just walk around making rulings according to his own desire and whims. It was all based on the revelation he received from Allah. It was all part of Islam. And when he made a mistake, Allah would correct him right away
as you can see covering the hair is not mentioned..
The Arabic word for CHEST, GAYB is in the verse (24:31), but the Arabic words for HEAD, (RAAS) or HAIR, (SHAAR) are NOT in the verse. The commandment in the verse is clear - COVER YOUR CHEST OR BOSOMS.
Chanda you're right that the verse does not explicitly say "cover your head", but it does say to draw your khimar over your chest to cover that. Khimar is a headcovering, its something used to cover your head. Someone who isnt versed in Arabic language and usage wouldnt understand that this verse does therefore contain in itself the order for covering the head, because why wear a headcover if its not covering your head. Its as if I said, "pull your socks up to your shins". And then someone comes along as says, she only wants you to cover your shins with your socks, she didnt say anything about covering your feet. Someone who knows what socks are, who understands what the term sock means and what its usage is, will know that obviously I intend for the feet to be covered as well. But someone who comes from a planet where there are no socks, she never heard the word sock before and never wore socks, she will say, no just cover your shin with the sock, you dont have to cover your feet with a sock because she didnt mention feet

STP, so I've always wondered, if we travel around on horses instead of our cars, is that sunnah also?

^^ because it says use your khimar to cover your chest but doesn't specifically tell you to cover your hair, I certainly don't believe that covering your head is required by the quran.
Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard
Again I dont want to argue with someone who is thinks beard is part of their religion because their husbands have it and because they believe its somehow part of Islam!
I will repeat myself....they ayas you have mentioned again...where Allah is asking his Ummah to follow the Prophet(pbuh)...it doesnt mean follow the sunnah..it means follow the QURAN......because the sunnah was NOT written and was NOT encouraged to be written by our Prophet(pbuh).
People use the Ayas that you have taken out of the Quran to simply promote texts written by people who were never authorized by Allah or our Prophet(pbuh).... the texts are to be taken as supplemental notes...NOT direct orders...(Salat has been part of the previous Nabuat, and if you dont think that is true then i am not sure what has happened)
All the Ayaas in your other thread.... where Allah is telling the Ummah to listen to the Messenger(pbuh) as he brings the word of Allah..not any other word...Strictly the Quran...
.......Allah is ordering Muslims to follow the Prophet (pbuh...... to listen to him.... as the Quran was being Nazil.
Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard
^ my dadi used to tell me if you dont cover ur head shaitaan will pee on your head.... I would go out and point out girls on the road and say oh look sahitan must be peeing on her head lol.. (I was 7 that time)
I obviously dont believe this now...and have no clue what Quran says about covering hair..

I dont think anyone is saying that the hadith and sunnah are an addition to the Quran
its in the quran..jhoot na bolo..chori na karo...be kind to others...the rules..the laws...the how tos...the donts....are all in the Quran...The Messenger was obeying Allah and asking us to do the same...why is it so hard for us to digest this...why do you believe that Allah Ta'ala missed out on some things that we have to go look around elsewhere....?
I think they are...they keep saying its Quran AND sunnah...
Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard
STP: let them be, bro.. some people just do not wish to look at our Prophet (saw) as guidance
Re: Wives warning / threatening their husbands not to keep a beard
Reading sunnah is another thing..but following it as one should be following the Quran, is not right..because the Messenger---as you can see....the word Messenger-----the Messenger of Allah, couldnt have asked his Ummah to believe that one should follow the Quran AND _____
Salat is in the Quran...that is how our Prophet was taught...how did he pray?? did he get his information out of the sunnah? no....he was guided by Allah...by the people who were already familiar with the concept of salah....
one can only read other books..and texts....etc..but to consider them obligatory...is not right.
