Re: Wishing the christians happy christmas? Allowed or no?
What link does this got with the ‘Merry Christmas’. Do you think Christmas is something related to cross? Its not. go through the etymology of the word which is equal to Quranic Maseeh.
Re: Wishing the christians happy christmas? Allowed or no?
Christmas is a pagan celebration which the christians started celebrating the birth of [unfortunately] their god.
The muslim mind will think it is a celebration of Milad but its details are mushrik. We as a people that both deny shirk and affirm the Prophethood of Rehmatul lil Alameen should not validate nor honour their day
There can be a case made for wishing them as there is exception to its prohibition. We should not wish them but the truth is (imo) we will end up wishing them willy nilly as we saw on page one here. The permission is being sought by the willy nilly people for it.
The true position is to not wish them merry christmas, although to wish them well and goodness (islam) is good.
Re: Wishing the christians happy christmas? Allowed or no?
Was Jesus (AS) really even born on the 25th of Dec? I vaguely recall that there’s another theory behind this date and behind the celebration…maybe it was a darker theory?
I have not researched the Islamic rulings on this matter in depth. But personally, I prefer to respond with “Happy Holidays” as that is more general and takes into account that not everyone believes in or celebrates the same festivals. Besides…most schools/jobs offer winter vacation/holidays…so happy holidays seems a better response imo, but i could be wrong.
Re: Wishing the christians happy christmas? Allowed or no?
Disregarding what the Christians do on that day, how does wishing someone merry Christmas equate to believing the concept of trinity or Jesus as the son of God
Re: Wishing the christians happy christmas? Allowed or no?
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 1.1 Narrated by Umar bin Al Khattab
I heard Allah’s Messenger (saws) saying, "The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended.”
Re: Wishing the christians happy christmas? Allowed or no?
Well i know you are, i have spoken to you in the past and learnt about your level of knowledge do not start to learn to impress me or others]. When you actually pin point your beliefs you may find a particular group represents you
Actually you may never do this
Btw anyone not from Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah is considered misguided, but possibly Muslim. You see misguided aka deviant is close to kufr
Re: Wishing the christians happy christmas? Allowed or no?
I have admitted that I have severely limited knowledge about religion. It was an accident perhaps that I was born in a Muslim family.
Given that I have limited knowledge about the religion, I am myself not sure which group ‘represents’ me.
It is this attitude that keeps me away from getting interested in religion more than I already am. I would rather be happy with being labelled as ‘misguided’ than being a bigoted self-righteous uptight know–it-all throwing kufr fatwas around.
Re: Wishing the christians happy christmas? Allowed or no?
The reason Pakistan is under attack is that a new religious movement or two have marked it for takeover. Thats why the old is being outed and the new is being brought through media, on the streets and by suicide bombings
Re: Wishing the christians happy christmas? Allowed or no?
One thing that some fatwabaz people don’t realize is that their fatwas of apostasy and giving certificates of good and bad Muslims could drive people out of the religion altogether.
Re: Wishing the christians happy christmas? Allowed or no?
The main reason are fatwas, like for barelvis people not following their school of thought are misguided. Similarly for others barelvis and Shias are mushriqs and kafirs and hence worthy to be killed. Now who would decide who is the righteous amongst all these different people, you, me or Allah? The problem we see in Pakistan is that we have become judge, jury and executioner.
Re: Wishing the christians happy christmas? Allowed or no?
But you still fail to explain why Muslim got right to preach their faith to others, but they don’t got right and a little room for wishing others their holy occasions / festivals. What a fragile version of faith we follow!
We are Muslims here (majority of us), so we try to suppress our strong sentiments out of respect, fear and perception developed over the period of time, but you know when you present such ideas outside Muslim circle, people pick an image of intolerant and bigot religion from you.
