Will the refugees by allowed to reside in Karachi

Re: Will the refugees by allowed to reside in Karachi

Karachi people have big hearts and as always they'll be the FIRST to help and accomodate displaced citizens from other areas. Most of them know what MQM is about and will not support their politics. Karachi has always suffered terrorism from those who hate peace and have their own selfish interests, pathans aren't the only ones that get killed for no reason I know many innocent urdu speaking(what a racist term to use) who lost their family members in violence by gov't/etc. I think YOU should be more concerned about how the displaced people will survive in Punjab where we can rarely find afghanis or pushtoons!

:hehe: According to UN, over 200,000 Afghans live in Punjab, I’ll leave the number of pakhtuns to your imagination.

Re: Will the refugees by allowed to reside in Karachi

I'm very sure that number is very small compared to number of people who reside in Karachi alone!

So you were wrong about the 'very rarely' part? 255,000 is a LARGE number, considering that its more than 1/4th of the afghan refugee population in the country, according to UNHCR.

Scroll down to page 4…Afghan population is much smaller compared to the size of Punjab province.

6% of Afghanis live in Karachi ALONE! 6.5% in Punjab vs 6% in just Karachi. Judge for your self! Pathans can’t be more ungrateful for bashing Karachi!

Why don’t you use the same source to find out how many pushtuns live in Sindh vs Punjab? It would be interesting. Just for your info: Pashtun diaspora - Wikipedia](Islamabad - Wikipedia)

Re: Will the refugees by allowed to reside in Karachi

Sindh has a total of 135,000 refugees, whereas Punjab (and islamabad) 255,000. Yes, most of the 135K are in KArachi, and in Punjab, they are divided in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad (which are smaller cities to begin with). So you were saying?

p.s. im not saying ppl of karachi have problems with refugees, im saying the mqm govt does.

Re: Will the refugees by allowed to reside in Karachi

I'm glad you agree now that it's not the Karachi people have problems with afghanis or pashtuns. We know the Paki govt has always been corrupt and many innocent people are targeted for no reason and Afghani/Pashtun aren't the only ones being killed. MQM is like any other political party of Pakistan that doesn't do jack for urdu speaking OR anyone else, they have their own selfish reasons which is to just steal peace from Pakistanis and terrorize them. Like I stated earlier, I have seen many urdu speaking family who lose their loved ones in shootings and strikes. Which politician has done anything to stop it?!

^ see how quickly so many non MQM supporters confuse karachi with MQM. yet if you confuse goat lover, taliban with pakhtoons you are getting the wrong end of stick. I am a punjabi myself i have seen many hits at punjab in this thread when this was about MQM and thnic trouble not karachi or sindhis. It is easy to tell others not to take it personally and harder to do jsut that yourself.

there are two million in Lahore alone.

I didn't like the tone of this thread. The initial poster made it seem like MQM has the key to door of Karachi and without them no one can enter. He made it sound like Karachi people are fully supporting MQM which is just wrong. And why only discuss Karachi, discuss Punjab govt too since it's in a better position to help provide shelter for homeless!

Re: Will the refugees by allowed to reside in Karachi

^ hmm i agree with you that it does specifies karachi however that has two legitimate reason, karachi is very much controlled by MQM, secondly most refugess will flock for it. so if the loudest mouth to support military action cannot back up refugees they should hush down a bit. personally nothing agaisnt karachi, love pakistan each and every part!

Re: Will the refugees by allowed to reside in Karachi

So, what is the point of this thread again?

lo and behold ,out of the horse’s mouth

Why is it always Karachi - why don't we take the entire &%$& population of Pakistan and change your diapers 5x a day and burp you and pat you on the butt to make you go to bed?

There are no other cities to bear the number of refugees? They need to be divided, and a good deal can be supported by building mini-temporary villages near Swat, with donations coming from around the country. You remember how the whole country pitched in for the earthquake victims - similar drives need to be done for these people. Adopt a family or adopt a child kind of thing until this cools over.

Latest news: People of the five rivers in pindi are not giving shelter to fleeing buneris even for rent. Source: bolta pakistan.

Because Karachi already hosts the relatives or acquaintances of most of the people from those areas. Easier for them to settle down. No need to get emotional about that.

BTW, there is already a huge population in karachi who call themselves ‘moharjirs’. Guess what that word translates into English?

Re: Will the refugees by allowed to reside in Karachi

Every Pakistani has a right to settle anywhere within the country from Khyber to Karachi. Anyone who knows Karachi will know that no one needs to be "allowed" to settle there because that place is growing faster than it can ever handle.

Let's please put aside these petty vendettas and think of ways to support this growing humanitarian catastrophe. I've not seen anything worse since the wretched AJK earthquake.

My request applies to you as well bro. The tone of the thread was provocative for sure but this is not the time to get into this Punjabi vs. Pukhtoon vs. wagayra wagayra...

…as per a random caller on the program while another caller also extended an open invitation to all refugees from Buner. Also local police departments are warning residents to be careful renting to people from Buner, as they might be rebels incognito.

Coming back to the topic of the thread, since everyone has been advised to make peace with Allah and offer drood before riding a train, how are these people supposed to reach Karachi anyway ?

Pindi is the closest city to Buner, if the Army aims to clear Buner of “jangju” in 7 days, they could set up a temporary camp in Liaqat bagh for a week or a month even.
