Yes you do need to have the Wii console before you have Wii fit!
Re: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Fit
njgal, my personal trainer...ummm, I'll take picture for you later :D
My Wii said that my "real" age is 86 years old because I can't hit a baseball or bowl. I've left it to the kids since then :).
Oh my god! Mine was way off too and the main reason for that is the "balance" test it does for you before that. If you aren't paying attention then some wicked score comes up!
Great thread Niksik!
I am still so hooked to Wii Fit and love the tight-rope walk which is a balancing game! So many other things to enjoy and my is fav’ is aerobics, Hula hoops which is great for thights, abs, hips and bums! Really makes me feel like I have had a good work out! Who needs to pay high gym costs when you have Wii?
Nitendo should be congratulated because they really have covered all aspects of fitness. Its amazing because the balance board is so well created that in just a few seconds it told me that I was slouching and my posture wasn’t right. It explains what I am doing wrong and how to correct my self. (This was for Yoga which helps me work on my posture and balance.) It was bang on and I even tried testing it many times! Hehe! The board is so sensitive that it really ensures you achieve the correct technique.
I love Wii Fit because it always waits for me in my living room and I can use it whenever I want. It is too much fun esp’ when friends etc come over and it is so inventive. Its personal and gives you constructive feedback.
So Guppies forget walking up and down the stairs twenty times, or going to the gym, or those fitness dvds…just get a Wii which is the same price as a Month’s Gym Membership and you will enjoy every second on it!

Re: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Fit
Thanks for your reviews and endorsement iggle. Today is day 2 for me!
Re: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Fit
sounds awesome!!!
how do you do yoga on it?
Re: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Fit
iggle - are you seeing fitness results? Is it a good workout?
Re: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Fit
Njgal - I used to go to the gym for different exercise classes e.g. aerobics and the amazing feeling after makes you a gym-addict! Excercise is like a powerful drug once you get into the routine and it makes you addicted to it because the body releases endorphins (happy-hormones) when we exercise. The endorphin rush makes you feel so much better, reduces stress, makes you feel fresher, happier etc. If I missed the gym for even two days, my body would actually ache for it! Lol.
Well the exact same effect of exercising on Wii has been happening. I bought Wii last year and use it all the time like a gym-addict! But it is the healthiest addiction possible! I have always been slim, but feel even smarter i.e. upper arms, stomach, thighs have tightened and are toned more since using Wii. But most of all you feel good after using it.
To get these results you have to start with slow warm-up exercises on Wii, then gradually start the next steps and continue until you break in sweat. Then stop, take a few mins to relax and do gentle exercises on Wii again as you did in the beginning until your breathing is back to normal. I stick with this and do it 4 times a week (exact same method as I used in gym) and it is a great workout for me. :)
sounds awesome!!! how do you do yoga on it?
You follow the personal trainer.

Shay, I dont know the exact answer .. but wii has two controls that you hold in both hands (based on the activity) and feet on Wii Fit Pad ..
now the sensor knows the position of all your limbs, when you move any, it records the new position and determines your body posture .. that way you can see your avatar on TV screen doing what you are doing ,, while personal trainer and little stick figures and text on screen tells you what should you do ..
I mean this is not how it exactly happens, but that is the philosophy that it works on in general
Re: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Fit
I'd been dying to get Wii Fit and got it recently, but I wasn't all that impressed. I got "My Fitness Coach" for wii before I ended up with the wii fit, and I love that!. I like the BMI feature of Wii Fit, but the 'exercises' are not really like a workout. You just do stuff for a few minutes, and then you're done and have to start again or go to a different thing. With My Fitness Coach, you set goals (ie. weight loss, flexibility, etc.), you enter all your vital stats, weight, etc. and the trainer creates a workout program for you. You commit yourself for however many days and minutes, and you do your workout. Every week or so, it asks you to update your vital stats, weight, etc. It's like working out with a trainer. There's cardio, flexibility workout, core strength, upper body, lower body, yoga, etc. It's so much better than Wii Fit, which in comparison seems like a 'game' to me now.
Re: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Fit
My Fitness Coach; is that also Wii based?
Re: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Fit
Yep!
Re: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Fit
and you use wii pad with that or no?
Re: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Fit
Nope. You just do your workout on the floor or use a yoga mat.
Re: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Fit
I find I fall over myself when I am jogging because the jogging is quite basic and I always have an urge to run. If you do attempt to run, you fall over:cb:
I also think the system is mean. If I put any amount of weight on, the little avatar me, get’s inflated! It also has a tendency to make comments.
All in all it is a good form of basic exercise. I have had it for quite a while and it won’t help you lose of oodles of weight but helps in toning and maintaining weight.
Re: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Fit
I have a wii fit age of 26 years old so I am pretty happy with that.
You do not need the wii board for all activities, aslong as the wii remote is in your hand or around your wrist, the wii will detect your movements :)
Re: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Fit
quick tip, not related to Wii fit but does relate to Wii ... always always use the wrist strap when using Wii remote. There are many videos on youtube showing people playing Tennis, Bowling or Baseball and remote slipped off their hand, smashing into their Plasma TV screen.
