Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
I recently saw Turkish Model Tugba Ozay on some program abt Islam. Absolutely gorgeous, just reinforced the need to have a booming model/fashion industry in Pakistan.
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
Last I checked, these values are held by many, many people today…so they’re hardly medievil. They’re quite contemporary.
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
Google her image…what a wh0re! Are you for female emancipation or for easy access to masturbatory materials?
Beauty contests are worthless. I would rather see females competing to become CEOs of major companies…but what the heck do these pagents show? Aside from TNA.
You claim you want Islam to reform to suit modern times…but then the question is, who defines what “modern” is? Americans? Or are we free to determine this ourselves? Perhaps modesty IS the future, you’re just too embarassed or afraid to contradict the Gora’s to admit it…
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
^ being covered up is not modesty. the two are not linked.
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
Phinny....The issue over here is morality. We will let you know when we need an advice from a hindu like you.
btw.this is thread is a disgrace. Shame on the muslims who support such sh!t.
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
On the contrary, being covered up is simply a part of being modest. It seems to be the part of modesty that is constantly under attack by people who wish to obfuscate the issue…
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
In an ideal world, she’d me my wife. Nothing wrong with being a model. I am not advocating forcing liberalism on any one, those who want to be conservative, they should be free to do so. It follows, that those who wish to participate in liberal society should also be allowed to do so without hinderance.
Dont tell me Tugba isnt gorgeous.
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
Tugba Ozay ------wow shez hot! turkish women are pretty...
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
Under a paradigm where a choice is not offered. Modesty is a relative term, even under islamic concepts of modesty. From niqabis looking down on hijabans, to hijabans looking down on non-hijabans, from salwar kameez clad ones looking down on mini skirt wearing ones…it is a foolish concept that tries to equate modesty to clothing when it has nothing to do with it.
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
Tugba's got a sweet ass.
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
Plenty wrong with being a model. It’s essentially public nudity, especially within a Muslim context.
This isn’t about freedom. This is about ownership of the public space. Only one side can win.
Who said whores can’t be pretty…
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
One can take that arugment so far…then you pretty much reach a point where it’s pretty much agreed that something is immodest.
Niqabis look down (apparently) on Hijabns not because they are immodest, but because they aren’t doing things “right”. That, though, revolves around rituals and how properly to do them. The only person here who is in fact immodest, and I’m sure Niqabi, Hijabi and Kameezi would agree, is the mini skirti.
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
^ doing it "right" is under the veil of modesty (pun intended). This is faulty logic. Wearing layers of clothes doesn;t make you any more or less modest as wearing a longer beard makes you more pious. These are silly concepts woven into religion and hammered into muslim minds.
When I look at a hijaban, I don;t think she is any more modest than a non-hijaban. Modesty is an individualistic trait not a collective societal one let alone a religious virtue. Unless muslim women are all sheep...as far as muslim men are concerned.
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
Yes and I doubt a backwards 7th century ideology will win. Maybe if they stop blowing themselves up, they might have a chance.
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
I’d agree. Wearing clothes, though, is modest…regardless of what form it takes. You seem to have forgotten that distinction.
Unless, of course, non-hijaban is prancing around in a bikini…
Modesty is an individual’s trait. Modest dress, is not.
Heck, I’d be happy if women covered up only as much as the men in their respective socities. That never seems to be the case…I wonder why…
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
Modesty has nothing to do with wearing clothes or not. A hijaban doesn’t equal to someone being modest and neither does a bikini clad girl to being immodest. It is only in the muslim mindset that there is some correlation.
You can prance around in the bikini and still be modest. You can wear a hijab and **** like a banshee in bathrooms at the airport..and not be modest. once again, clothing has nothing to do with modesty.
Dress cannot have a modest or immodest attribute attached to it. tell me..when you go to the beach do you wear a burkha?
Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
Why is being a model a bad thing?
Its a choice they make, its a celebration of there physical attributes, and every one’s a winner. Like I said, if Tugba was rolling with me, I would be delighted.
She’s a new entry in my top 10 Hotties list.

Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
I do not think we need a Miss Pakistan but I am personally of the view that if any one wants to go ahead with it, she must not be stopped from exercising her right. However, in that case, she musn't think of using the country's name to prove her identity. Its just like what Meera did. Whatever she did was on her own, with her own free will and accord. THe government of Pakistan had nothing to do with that show of vulgarity and behayai. Now, what ticks me off is that she kept projecting herself as an ambassador of peace and a representative of Pakistan, as if the government of Pakistan had given her a clean chit to bare and dare.
I do not think that such vanity shows, in particular the Miss World or these type of contests promote a country's image or project women in positive light. If we have an identity we need to preserve it. What an individual does in her/his capacity is different from... what is being done under the aegis and with the blessings of the government.
