As my edit states. They can choose to have as many partners listed on their taxes as they wish. Nothing stops them.

If they wish to yes. Nothing stops them. Unless there is a law which states you can only list 4 people on a single tax filing. Or you can limit the number of dependents as a number of countries do.
A law is man made and can be changed at any point. There are plenty of manners in which to do this. You just disagree with it so you use absurd examples.
A governments job is to provide equal treatment to all its people. Regardless of their sexual orientation or the number of spouses they have.

if marriage didn’t come with legalities, then yes. unfortunately or fortunately, thats not the case. spouse has many legal rights. if you or anyone thinks infinite number of spouses can get the same rights, then either you cannot think logically or purposely being dishonest.

Apart from the legal complications, polygamy hurts families. It hurts children. It leaves too many open wounds to heal. It’s very simple, two women cannot share a man without feeling insecure and inadequate. Two men cannot share a woman either without feeling jealous and inadequate. Being okay with polygamy requires extreme conditioning from birth. Those who grew up seeing multiple parents would be okay with it and those who didn’t would not be okay. Pretty simple, really.
Homo sapiens are polygamous by nature but this doesn’t mean we keep more than one partner at a time without expecting any emotional and psychological damage.

^And yet there is nothing illegal about actually having multiple partners, multiple defacto families. Yet, a person may be put in jail for years for stating the relationship as marriage instead of calling it partner.
I am not urging for law to change but I think having multiple partners being legal while multiple marriages illegal is not logical.

i wonder if all these polygamy supporters will also support a woman having multiple husbands. i find it very hypocritical that a man should be allowed to have more than 1 wife but she cannot be married to multiple men.

^I think you keep making the same circular argument. Kakaballi said he is merely asking for reasons, not supporting it. Zafra told you he wouldn’t mind polyandry as well. And I stated I am not in support of polygamy i merely find the practice of actually doing it being legal as absurd. I think if polygamy is punishable by jail term, so should be sex outside wedlock and children out of wedlock.

big difference between polygamy and sex out of wedlock. legalizing multiple marriage can create problems as i mentioned earlier where married people can also be married to other people.
just answer this much, do you suppose there should be a limit on the number of husband a woman can have or the number of wives a man can have?

That is exactly what I mean. When we blur the lines of what a proper relationship should be, people will eventually lose sense of what’s right and what’s wrong. It’s kind of like when we have straight people trying out being gay. You can’t be gay if you have to try.

legal spouse can get greencard. now if you are in favor of limitless spouses, one man can marry thousands of women from other countries and they can all get greencards? the same goes for american women who can go all over the world and bring thousands of men legally in this country. you dont think that can cause immigration problems?

Your question shows that you ae looking at it from the usual “women are victims in polygamy” thing, I dont have a problem with this, I however, think, in this case all reltaionships outside marriage shud be illegal.
