when getting married, they give too much emphasis on clothes, jewellery, makeup, photography blah blah rather than person they’re marrying. No offense but it’s my personal experience, so if anybody is on the same boat or not ;), please share your views.
ppl Far away from reality:
Shadi is linked with "happyness" = fun, dancing, music, fancy clothes, designer stuff, "showbazi", make up, drinks, 7star food, gifts....
Ppl near to Reality
Shadi is a huge siyappa
Re: Why girls get crazy for things...
so what man, so what...
Re: Why girls get crazy for things…
Newsflash: it’s possible to link shadi with “happiness” (i.e., fun, dancing, music, dressing nicely, etc) AND focus on the person you’re marrying and developing a good relationship. Those things aren’t mutually exclusive. ![]()
Re: Why girls get crazy for things...
You want to take away the only happiness that girls experience?
Re: Why girls get crazy for things...
Not only married girls are into these makeup, jewelery, photography, clothes/ shopping, etc.
Source. Not married and I do all of the above. :)
Re: Why girls get crazy for things…
NO WAY!! Developing a relationship is a thing?! ![]()
Re: Why girls get crazy for things…
I don’t know.
my wife was happy having relatively simple functions. By far the greatest expense for our functions was the food. We didn’t bother with decor, photographers or anything like that.

How many pictures have you seen of the groom or groom's family wearing cotton while the bride and her family wear designer? ;)
Why girls get crazy for things...
So what? If someone can afford it and its within their means, what's the prob? How do you know about the details about someones relationship and what they consider significant. When you say "in my experience"... Does that mean you are married and have gone thru it or from just what you have observed? What will you be wearing on your wedding?...
Re: Why girls get crazy for things…
u mean they should think about cufflinks and shaving gel ![]()
Re: Why girls get crazy for things...
Personally, I scrutinize the person a lot. I scrutinize his family. For some reason money and job isn't much of a factor, but what is - is the education. I have a belief which may be flawed but I truly believe that your education is your opportunity to build a business resume. Which will help you get jobs. The more education, the more skills you get, the more training, the more things you can learn to do that others CANNOT - you will eventually be ok in the job market.
So I never inquire about income. Maybe I should but somehow never factored in. I was also raised in a lower middle class to borderline poor household so limited cash is not a foreign concept to me.
Hence the fancy functions isn't even something I am thinking of - in fact when I was seriously considering marrying someone in ever gave my wedding dress a thought!

So what you are saying is that Bhabhi is an intehai shareef khatoon and you are an intehaai kanjoos aadmi.
Re: Why girls get crazy for things...
It's simple, women are materialistic. Hides

The first part is right. The latter part, no. I'll spend, but not where I feel it's utterly useless. Besides, the only thing anyone will remember an hour after they leave from a marriage function is the food.

True that. I was just puling your leg. The total expense of my marriage was $1510. $1500 for the reception of 80 people, $10 for the marriage licence.

these are the superficiality at best on the part of the brides. :D
Re: Why girls get crazy for things...
It's a special and celebratory occasion that should be memorable. But there are some girls who go overboard and where that line is drawn is a subjective matter. While the OP didn't include the disclaimer indicating "exceptions" to his opinion, there are brides-to-be that place material things above relationships not only during the wedding preps, but post-wedding as well.
Re: Why girls get crazy for things...
i will take my bride to Timbuktu and get married there...nothing of the sorts of desi taam-jhaam waali wedding!... :) ek kilo namak will be the amount of mahr that i'll promptly pay to her on that memorable night! :D
