Why DO you believe?

Re: Why DO you believe?

Good answer Shweetdreams, that is what I have been trying to say in another thraead 'all religions have weaknesses'.

Re: Why DO you believe?

I am sorry, but below a bit long preaching session is needed for such questions, but this is still coming from a commoner like you and believe me, if you read it you will understand the basic spiritualism Islam intends. I am answering your questions through Islamic Spiritualism, tasawwuf.

If you are a Muslim, you believe in Islam blindly. So asking the question why one believes in Islam does not make a lot of sense for a Muslim.

However, If you believe in the One True God (Allah ta’ala in Arabic) then you believe in the true faith in Him (Islam). If you Love the One True God, then you love His religion Islam, the religion that has always been there, since the beginning until the day of “Hashr” and then forever.

If you love the Greatest of All Mankind, Ya RasulAllah :as: then you follow the faith of Islam, because it is the Noor of RasulAllah :as: that is the first Creation. Syedina RasulAllah :as: was the Prophet, when even Syedina Adam :as: were not born. So, Islam has always been there.

If you believe that all past faiths have been abrogated, then you believe in Islam, the last message brought by Syedina RasulAllah :as:

To have doubts in the correctness of Islam is illegal, Haram.
When you read the Kalima Shareef, you testify that Islam is true and all other religions on earth today are FALSE.

It is not appropriate to assert religion as irrelevant for a Muslim. Science being progressing is a debate, but there would be no science if it were not for faith in Islam. It is the Love of Allah and His Habeeb :as: that makes a true Muslim want to learn more of science to know the makings of and manisfestations of Allah’ Attributes in this created world and to Glorify him more.

Re: Why DO you believe?

Some of the most moral people I know are a-religious and some of the most immoral ones I know are religious to the n th degree. No, I do not believe any religion has monopoly on morality. I can be good without believing in any religion.

Re: Why DO you believe?

You confuse moral people with moralizing people. There is a nuance that seems to have escaped you.

Re: Why DO you believe?

poico:morality>gods....historically at least humans created their gods to make morality rules bearable, and understable to the greatest numbers
as you pointed only very few people can be scholars without going to school so only few people can be moral without religions, hence the need for it for society cohesion

Re: Why DO you believe?

good point!
i believe cause it is my feeling for it…and can’t explain…all my reasonings stops before questioning my faith…

Re: Why DO you believe?

Thaqib, no, many Muslims do not believe in Islam blindly. There is plenty of evidence that proves the existence of Allah, and Quran being a holy book revealed by Allah (SWT).

Re: Why DO you believe?

B/c gives satisfaction and answers to ALL questions!

Re: Why DO you believe?

that is pretty naive and blind faith…:bummer:

but i do also believe because it satifies me

Re: Why DO you believe?

thats a pretty weird thread.....

the question that u should be asking is ' why shouldn't one believe in islam? ' not why do u believe in islam.....

Re: Why DO you believe?

i dont drop dead if dont

Re: Why DO you believe?

Have you considered the possibilty that you were born into it?

Re: Why DO you believe?

Stop pussyfooting PP. Tell them the truth. they are all so **** scared of afterlife. So religion and God are their security blanket. So few of them really behave in a way that a true God if he/she existed would approve of. I see so much anger and hostility from these so called religous people here on GS (who fel soooo great praising Allah) that Allah I am sure will ask them first questionafter they keep over: Why are you so hostile to my children?

Re: Why DO you believe?

Can I steel this line if you aren’t around?

Re: Why DO you believe?

And who was it that invented charity?

Thus granting hope?

Re: Why DO you believe?

i dont get your question...."who invented charity"

Re: Why DO you believe?

Why shouldn't we? You do the work for once.

Re: Why DO you believe?

I believe in religion because I am scared to death of Hell and being squeezed in my grave. I believe in religion cos I am IGNORANT, and I have to invent an imaginary power up in the sky hoping I would be saved by this power.

Re: Why DO you believe?

Because it is the wish Allah (swt).

I know some people are thinking, "wait a minute, this is circular logic." Yes, i know it is. Sorry.

Re: Why DO you believe?

Same here. Alhamdulillah I was born into a Muslim family so I've had it since birth.

I don't have any doubts in Allah or in Islam. What is this evidence you speak of? I've studied science since high school and throughout university and I haven't seen any evidence anywhere close to contradicting the teachings of Islam. Unless you count Darwin's theory of evolution, which all the teachers (in my classes at least) just taught for the sake of information but never endorsed it. If that's the evidence you're thinking of, then it's already something I don't believe in.

Anyhow, if the scientific theories of the time don't agree with what my deen says, then it is the current scientific knowledge or hypotheses that are at fault. When it comes to Islam and science, science is just a tool to point out some of the wisdom in the commands of Allah and the Sunnah of Rasulullah (S.A.W.) and not something that proves or disproves it.
