I believe in religion because I am scared to death of Hell and being squeezed in my grave. I believe in religion cos I am IGNORANT, and I have to invent an imaginary power up in the sky hoping I would be saved by this power.

I would believe completely in Torah, if it was not altered (therefore cotains errors)
I would believe completely in Bible, if it was not altered (therefore cotains errors)

I believe completely in Quran, because it is not altered. (therefore contains NO **errors)
I believe completely in Quran, because it contains scientific facts that **could not have **been discovered when it was revealed.
I believe completely in Quran, because it contains scientific facts that **have been discovered recently.
I believe completely in Quran, because it does not contradict.

If you think Bible contains errors then Quran is wrong too, atleast on things which were taken from Bible. Anyway what you are saying is what YOU think is right but it does not mean you are right.

you have failed to prove that Quran is wrong. Whereas here anyone can give you a huge list of where the previous scriptures contain errors. Rather than just saying, why don't you prove it. My test for you (prove me that 500 years after quran was revealed, that those scientific facts(in Quran) mentioned in the thread "Mountains" were known to people.

For once goodtalking2u, if you have guts, accept this challenge rather than avoiding it by taking the discussion into some other direction.

The human brain itself can't be explained, how dare you question if GOD exists? Obviously some thing powerful created us that we can't even talk about, let alone think about.

If you really need an answer then simply look straight up into the sky and say, "Oh GOD! Where are you?" And spit really hard.

Stop pussyfooting PP. Tell them the truth. they are all so **** scared of afterlife. So religion and God are their security blanket. So few of them really behave in a way that a true God if he/she existed would approve of. I see so much anger and hostility from these so called religous people here on GS (who fel soooo great praising Allah) that Allah I am sure will ask them first questionafter they keep over: Why are you so hostile to my children?

Thats true… It could be a lot of things, fear among other things. But I think, more then any thing else, deep down we all want to know that after we die, we will continue to exist… Simply exist! Be it heaven or hell, Atleast we will survive.
Its mans response to his own mortality.

Same here. Alhamdulillah I was born into a Muslim family so I’ve had it since birth.

I don’t have any doubts in Allah or in Islam. What is this evidence you speak of? I’ve studied science since high school and throughout university and I haven’t seen any evidence anywhere close to contradicting the teachings of Islam. Unless you count Darwin’s theory of evolution, which all the teachers (in my classes at least) just taught for the sake of information but never endorsed it. If that’s the evidence you’re thinking of, then it’s already something I don’t believe in.

Anyhow, if the scientific theories of the time don’t agree with what my deen says, then it is the current scientific knowledge or hypotheses that are at fault. When it comes to Islam and science, science is just a tool to point out some of the wisdom in the commands of Allah and the Sunnah of Rasulullah (S.A.W.) and not something that proves or disproves it.

Bible is a corrupted book, so it makes sense that it conflicts with science.

When you say biblical stories, I'll assume you mean the same stories mentioned in the Qur'an. Still, even if they go against the general understanding of how the world works, it doesn't make me doubt in Islam or Allah in the least.

Because I believe that Allah is the One who controls everything. Making fire cold, turning a stick into a snake or opening passages in the water may seem impossible to us but is nothing special for Allah. The world works the way we understand it because it is His order, and can easily do the opposite by His order too.
