What I notice quite often in this virtual world, is the amount of inferiority complex some Pakistanis have towards Arabs. I personally don’t know a single Pakistani in my personal life who holds Arabs with high regard, so, it puzzles me when I encounter Pakistanis who view Arabs to be superior to them.
I’m currently a member of “Twitter”, and let me tell you… this inferiority complex is so embarrassingly, overly-visible on Twitter.
I constantly see Pakistanis boasting about beautiful Arabs are… Why? I have no idea. Most Arabs are nothing special in terms of physical-appearance from what I’ve seen, and I’ve met many Arabs of various different nationalities. Some Pakistanis get hyped if they’re told they “look” Arab, as if looking like an Arab is some kind of accomplishment, pathetic to say the least. What’s wrong with “looking” Pakistani? - These Pakistanis also often use Arabic phrases in their vocabulary (Habibi, Wallah, Yallah, Akhi, ect). And, don’t even get me started on those Pakistanis who claim Arab ancestry!!
On the other hand, I will very rarely see an Arab compliment Pakistanis. In fact, they seem to show ignorance more than anything towards Pakistanis.
I know, I know, I know… most Pakistanis don’t suffer from an inferiority complex towards Arabs, but a lot of Pakistanis unfortunately do suffer from this complex, and it’s really starting to get to me.
I’ve always been proud to call myself a Pakistani, and I always will be, but at times like this, I’m not too fond of being a Pakistani.
This thread reminded me of my mamu..last year me, hubs and mamu’s family went together for umrah..hubs was wearing the local arab dress(due to hot weather) and mamu proudly says ‘ap to arab lgrahe hain’
I hear you i hate this complex too..first we feel inferior to westerners and now arabs..hum apni khud izat nhi krte or koi khak krega:pullhair:
Re: Why do some Pakistanis love off Arabs so much?
Listen ya habibi, taking refuge in Arab/Persian/Uzbek roots helps me deny my Hindu ancestry. Also my Sheikh told me God is Arab, which totally works 'cos who doesn't like shawarma.
Re: Why do some Pakistanis love off Arabs so much?
Arabs were one of the people who ruled us in the distant past, so people call themselves Arabs to be part of that ruling class, that once was. Claiming Arab ancestry gives you THE ZAAT. Then there are the Syeds they obviously have some Arab blood in them(1/100th).
I have a few Arab naval officers at my university and they don't look very special when I compare them to the Pakistani officers studying with me. If anything they look weird, probably because they don't look anything like a Pakistani. These Arabs, the ones I've encountered don't excel at their studies either, but that is probably because of the language barrier. And they aren't any taller than their Pakistani counterparts.
Pakistanis who've had direct interaction with Arabs, especially in the Arab lands, despise them for their arrogance and racism. I definitely don't claim to be from a race that looks down on us Pakistanis.
Re: Why do some Pakistanis love off Arabs so much?
Saeed summed up what i wanted to say. There is no place in racism anywhere but it is also true that some Arabs think Pakistanis as inferior race. Which is true..if ya've lived in Gulf states..ya probably have experienced racism. We should be ourselves who eva we are. Maintain our identity as well as..not lookin down on anyone. Coz yo..Allah created us so we appreciate differences and get along with each otha.
Re: Why do some Pakistanis love off Arabs so much?
Habibi, shu hada maskara? Why taking the biss out of Bakistanis comblimenting Arabs?
It is not a Pakistani phenomenon, its global. Desis look up to a lot of people, including Arabs, Goray and even Cheenay. And look down upon Habshis. Goray are often intimidated by Arabs esp the loaded ones, and I've personally witnessed well accomplished goray kissing some Arab arse. Arabs look down upon Desis and look up to Goray. People with darker skin tones want to make it lighter, those with lighter skin tones want to make it darker. Nobody is happy and hardly anyone likes anyone for who they are, mostly including their own race. This world, my friend, is an interesting place.

Arabs only ruled parts of Sindh for a short period of time. The Arabs were defeated in Punjab multiples times.

To be honest, I don't really care about how Arabs perceive Pakistanis, they can look down upon us all they want, it doesn't bother me. I'm annoyed at these Pakistanis who view Arabs as some kind of prestigious beings.
Re: Why do some Pakistanis love off Arabs so much?
Arabs are quite arrogant and obsessed with designer brands especially the ones in Harrods...but then again, there are some very nice and humble ones too. Same goes for others....I mean even Pakistanis are pretty racist when it comes to Indians and Africans.
Re: Why do some Pakistanis love off Arabs so much?
Some Pakistanis think being Arab = being more religious and Islamic. That's why the love.
I agree with this statement. Many instances i have seen some men and women who turn religious...tend to act like an arab who is religious. I mean i have no problem if they do that..but if they think..being an arab means more religious and islamic then it is wrong.

Guess the "more religious" theory makes more sense.
But then again the Mughals we revere so much were't locals either. They came from the West, and Arab lands are in the West, so it's all the same. Anyone from the West is just Better.
