Re: Why Do Pakistanis Reject their Indian heritage?
^well, my mom didn't observe pardah(veil/burka) but she used to stay indoors quite a bit except when she went shopping but she still got lighter skinned here in Canada where she's always out.
On a side note, my back gets much much darker after one day in the sun even though its always covered. So does the black burka some women wear actually help against the sun? Doesn't black attract the sun?
Also According to my mom , when we used to live in Peshawar we got lighter too because of the 'water' there. I don't know if the water affects your skin color but i know for a fact that the sun does.
Re: Why Do Pakistanis Reject their Indian heritage?
i observed pardah or veil during most of my stay in india...and i walked quite a lot outdoors...in the middle of summer...but my skin stayed totally white...thanks to the protection of clothes
a veil on the face also replace conveniently sunglasses;)
Re: Why Do Pakistanis Reject their Indian heritage?
^I see. But you know there are some people who just never tan and for a lot of people you have to stay in a place for a long time to get tanned so maybe if you stayed there for a longer time you would have gotten tanned.
Re: Why Do Pakistanis Reject their Indian heritage?
I am a proud Hindu and Pakistanis although deny their Indian heritage but the truth is that they practice each and every social custom in the same way as we Indians do.
If they deny it, let them deny, but that will not change the truth.
Re: Why Do Pakistanis Reject their Indian heritage?
Mulz honey, where do you do your research? Why are you talking about something you obviously have no idea about?
Veerappan was no landlord and he was not against the central govt or north indians settling in south india. I am not even going to get into it, your writings have no basis in reality or facts.
Re: Why Do Pakistanis Reject their Indian heritage?
ok but are there any parts of my argument that you disagree with? i'm not trying to start something, i just want to perfect my argument for the next time a thread like this pops up.
oh wait, i read ur other posts, dont bother
parissenoor's basic arguments were "all pakistanis have indian heritage", "people from islamabad to kerala look exactly the same" "once you go to quetta and peshawar you'll see white people" and other stuff along the same lines.
Re: Why Do Pakistanis Reject their Indian heritage?
I personally find it very embarrassing and self-degrading to see people talk about their skin color or use that as a basis of comparison/superiority.
Why this obcession with skin-color? Every other thread that I find here and other Pakistani and Indian forums makes a mention to skin-color!
Although, skin color may be one element of a goup's individuality but these are values, culture, language, historical experiances, and other social-political dimensions of collective existence that are actually more important in binding people together.
Believe me, I've been on a number of Pashtun forums for almost six years but never ever I encountered a discussion on the "issue" of "skin color". I think one should accept what one is! Color is not that important.

That has to be the biggest joke ever. Too bad we cant post links here from those forums, or I'd have a field day. Plus, we have some posters here (claiming they are superior pashtun warriors or something), rejoicing over the fact that they are 'lighter' compared to other Pakistani Muslims, whom they refer to as 'hindus', just to appease themselves because of their sorry present states. And yeah, to be honest, they arent light skinned anyways, so I wonder what the fuss is about.
Re: Why Do Pakistanis Reject their Indian heritage?
We are Pakistanis, because we are FROM PAKISTAN, and not Hindustan or Paris-taan or englistaan or whatever.
So we dont need no non-pakistanis (especially indians) telling us who we are or what heritage we have. Leave us alone, and worry about your own heritage and cultures please.
Re: Why Do Pakistanis Reject their Indian heritage?
I agree with most of Chiaman’s posts.
No one here is saying that dark or light skin color is superior or inferior. Skin color and other physical features are simply one of the many aspects of identity found among a people or individual. This racial identity can make one similar or distinct from the others, but to deny one’s race is to deny one’s identity.
“Most” Pakistanis might be racially different from “most” Indians, but the differences dont end there. The differences are in linguistics, culture, history, religion, geography, and race! I already posted an article that explains them with facts: http://www.paklinks.com/gs/showpost.php?p=4104169&postcount=46 Again, the differences are just aspects of identity and does not equate to being superior/inferior.
It just amazes me why Indians are obsessed with labelling its distinct neighbors (particularly Pakistanis) as belonging to “Indian/Hindu background”… Guys, get over it…Pakistan is a reality and has historically always been a reality in different forms. Just because the British colonialists invaded the different kingdoms/nations of Southasia and for the ease of administering consolidated them into a single unit called “India” does not mean much since there was no country/entity with such name or size before its British creation.
Re: Why Do Pakistanis Reject their Indian heritage?
i hope indian mind their own business and don,t try to act clever with us,we are diffirent we dont share anything with these lowlife jai hanuman creaturs not just coz of our riligoun but also our culture and raciallty is different from most indian .and some pakistanis really need to shut theire mouth and read pakistans history before coming to any conclusion.
Re: Why Do Pakistanis Reject their Indian heritage?
racially most of the Pakistanis are caucasian(white) while Indians are aboriginal. I think Indians try to associate themselves with Pakistanis cuz they also might get girls in the west :D Most of the goris in America go for Pakistanis as opposed to Indians :)
