hell.. i saw, a skinny arab once, with gold hanging ffrom his neck, in utter kalla clothing, with his trouser pulled up all the way on his one leg.

The latest trend among teens in being different is not gangster look but mulla look, it’s also usually in urban areas and where Pakistani communities are tightly bound. It’s odd to see the guy with fresh grown beard, using the f word as if it’s a preposition not a verb and then saying subhanawatalah a few sentences afterwards. It’s even worse seeing a hijaban giving someone the bird.

I think you’ve just described some of my cousins. They pray five times a day sport a beard, can give a lecture on how hindus are bad people but thinkg it is oh so cool to use the F word. And no they are not in their teens

At every age, children try to be independent; it’s the basic instinct of survival.

So when the parents and other desi uncle aunties are praising this straight A student, who is soo good at the spelling bees, the teen that gets Bs or Cs and thinks spelling bees are stupid will obviously go the other way. To prove he is different and that he doesn’t care about As or how hippopotamus (sp?) is spelled, he will either wear baggy pants with a cap on backwards and chains or spike his hair and wear all black with a piercing. Such kids usually feed on the disapproval of their surroundings, when an uncle looks at ‘em with his desi mean eyes it only strengthens their urge to be different.

That’s why I usually don’t like when people start comparing their kids, especially in the presence of their children. I know its very hard not to. The worse for a parent to say is; look at so and so, he is so great. Children only hear ‘you are not so great’ in that conversation.

Oh, so that’s what happened to me. No, but seriously, I agree. That’s true. Desi’s do have this terrible habit of comparing kids.

if a desi acts gangsta despite not living in a black ghetto, then he is definitely a desperate loser. cos them blacks atleast have the excuse that their circumstances and surroundings brought about such behavior, what excuse do these stupid desis have??

i was at tha airport yesterday and i mistook this desi guy for a black dude

and as for tha girls its real hard to make out if they r spanish or desi girls…

It has to do with identitly crisis. They are so ashamed of their paki heritage that they act out like something they will never be..

Being preppy is no more Paki than being ghetto, we’ve all left our culture and heritage behind us after moving to these countries and adopted new ones. I don’t like it either when Pakis act all ghetto because they look like clowns when they do that but I’ll give them one thing they are definitely not ashamed of their culture or religion (even if they dont practice either), they couldn’t care less what any native of this country think of them for it.

I’ve never been into that kind of thing, I’m a down-to-earth and straight forward kind of a guy, I speak normal English (not ghetto, not oxford just normal local accent) and I don’t cover myself in more jewellery than a Desi bride but I have mates who act all ghetto, I kind of drifted away from them over the past 3-5 years but I still see them around in town and try keeping my distance, they embarrass me when they’re rude to random girls and I can’t really communicate with them because their vocabulary doesn’t go beyond “wagwan”, “innit” “ezee”, “wassup” and “blud”, lol when I talk normal they accuse me of being a white wanna be.

They can carry on being gangsters and beating people up (who deserve it) but I don't understand why they want to be African Americans (not that there's anything wrong with AA's)?

Do "Preppy" people talk in a manner which is undeducated, like ebonics? No! . Do preppy people walk like they're wearing a prosthetic leg? No! So please define "preppy", and tell me how it's the same as acting like a "gangsta".
