i used to do dat when i was like 13-14, and then im like im not black, y act like them, its not like that kinda behavior is praised, now i dress desi style, u kno jeans with dress shirts or sumthing, not black not white but in between brown...lol

The latest trend among teens in being different is not gangster look but mulla look, it’s also usually in urban areas and where Pakistani communities are tightly bound. It’s odd to see the guy with fresh grown beard, using the f word as if it’s a preposition not a verb and then saying subhanawatalah a few sentences afterwards. It’s even worse seeing a hijaban giving someone the bird.

It's quite annoying on most Desis, they don't look anything like the fighting types. Just good for cat fights, kicking bus shelters in and slashing their own dads car tyres. If they tried any of their ganster sht with Black, Latino or even BNP gangsters they'll get their brown butts beaten black and blue (maroon even) so they should stick to their books.
If you're tough you're tough, it'll show, you don't have to act ghetto to prove it, just dress preppy and have a decent personality and only show your bad side when somebody is asking for it, don't just go around acting like a bad boy to some old biddy or bus driver.

The gangsta phase I think is out now. Lately, I've been seeing a lot of wannabe-preps. They wear these sweaters and collared shirts, etc, and even glasses! :o :o :o

So when the parents and other desi uncle aunties are praising this straight A student, who is soo good at the spelling bees, the teen that gets Bs or Cs and thinks spelling bees are stupid will obviously go the other way. To prove he is different and that he doesn’t care about As or how hippopotamus (sp?) is spelled, he will either wear baggy pants with a cap on backwards and chains or spike his hair and wear all black with a piercing. Such kids usually feed on the disapproval of their surroundings, when an uncle looks at ‘em with his desi mean eyes it only strengthens their urge to be different.
That’s why I usually don’t like when people start comparing their kids, especially in the presence of their children. I know its very hard not to. The worse for a parent to say is; look at so and so, he is so great. Children only hear ‘you are not so great’ in that conversation.

Its the music that plays the biggest part in this (eminem, 50 cent and woteva else there is)…these bad boy wannabes are sooo annoying.
you know some of them are so skinny that they have their trousers hanging down…(or is that part of the image?) 
ps i dont think its just a teenage phase that they go through -ive seen guys in thier 20s act like this too.

No, the music is not to blame here. The blame is on the people who are stupid enough, and influenced enough to modify their lifestyle for someone with a gold tooth acting a rap video.
One can enjoy the music without having an identity crisis.

whats the big deal if they do, aside from it not being your taste. if you're not imitating rap stars you're imitating white americans/europeans, pretending its somehow more culturally relevant to be listening to beethoven, playing golf on a sunday, and instead of liking someone with a gold tooth, liking someone who hasnt seen a barber (or a shower) in years. all part of being integrated into whatever culture you're in or trying to emulate.
and it isnt even a pakistani thing, chinese/korean people i know who grew up in LA were pretty much the same.

who says thats pakiz forget their own culture and traditons if they act gangsta i mean i have so many friends who wear baggys,those cool hats,big chains around em and rings on their fingers and talking "gangsta language" and they listen to rap but i assure you they're pure pakiz and they proud of it they know alot abt pakistan our desi culture society ou religion our traditions
but this style is jst in nowadays so plz dont say they have forgotten their culure or anything and its not just guys galz act gangsta too but in a diff way from boys of course
so just accept it
