I am not playing the victim card her, I left my ex-fiancee long time ago when he let me get abused my his family. I am only sharing my experience to explain why i agree with the OP and why I think majority of Pakistani guys incliduing American pakistani guys are indeed beghairat.
You must be a very brave girl who took such a big step... Was he a Pakistani American?
No it’s not. Right now there is the case of Oscar Pistorius going on in South Africa, about him murdering his own girlfriend. He’s not white trash is he? He’s a global athletic star.Abuse happens, whether it be emotional, physical, sexual, regardless of economic status.
I can only talk about what I have personally seen. I personally have not seen white or nondesi american men treating their wives/girlfriends/fiancees the way pakistani men do. Even if there are selected case as you have mentioned, its still not as rampant as it is with desis.
I never said ALL pakistani men, i said MAJORITY of them. I should have mentioned **MAJORITY OF PAKISTANI MEN THAT I HAVE ENCOUNTERED IN MY LIFE, **whether it was my ex, my uncles, men in my extended family and friends.
I have to commend you for breaking the cycle of abuse, by breaking off your engagement to your ex and not going through something traumatic for the rest of your life. But, saying that, please don't generalize. There are good and bad people in this world. It doesn't matter what age, gender, nationality, ethnicity. It's human nature to generalize and put everything into neat little boxes with labels, but you can't paint an entire group with the same brush.
Up to 70 percent of women experience physical or sexual violence from men in their lifetime — the majority by husbands, intimate partners or someone they know
Remind me again that this is a Pakistan only problem.
Well done for leaving your abusive guy. But there are good and bad people everywhere who deplore abusive vermin. Saying that majority of Pak men are idiots is no different than racists who use stats to abuse another race.

You think it's rampant based on your experiences. Based on my experiences it's not. So who's right in this situation? Neither of us can be right can they?

why is it considered such a big step to end a relationship with a beghairat whos not keeping you happy? yes he was pakistani american, educated and good career.
However ending that was the best thing i did as i met someone whos not a beghairat and treats me like a queen.
^When you have women believing that a man has to provide for them then they are sealing their fate. Start teaching our girls to stop depending on men and I can guarantee this abuse will stop. They will know how to get themselves out of such situations.

did you re marry a pakistani? or rekindle a new relationship with one? is your new relationship muslim at least?
Now we have moved on from Pakistani to Muslim men? What next, white vs brown?
Noone takes racists seriously, a tip. :)
Sorry if it was offensive to anyone. I shouldnt have generalized all muslim men. but i am sick and tired of people pointing fingers at muslims marrying nonmuslims and no one ever calls them racist.

Catholics or Jews don't exactly allow themselves to marry into Muslims too, I don't see you calling them names?
And if you think something is racist and you think others are not pointing it out then how is you stooping to their level doing your stance any good?
First...thing which needs to be changed is title..followed by generalization and stereotyping. Domestic issue isn't Pakistani issue. It is global issue..whether you like it or not. Happens everywhere. Yes sad! and shouldn't happen.
