Who's the Bride???

Re: Who's the Bride???

I know how sgc feels! i'm pretty much organising my wedding too. We go to so much effort to ensure things are perfect, not only for us but for our friends and family too. Only my close family and friends are attending and i have no worries about their conduct on how they dress etc. but you can't control the grooms side...

yeah yeah i know some of you will say stop being anal and let people do what they want and that i can't expect all people to behave themselves according to normal social constraints.... but i have spent so much time and energy on this wedding... i have a colour scheme, which matches from flowers to linen, i wish my brides maids and flower girls to dress in a certain way.... i want it to be perfect, is that too much to ask?!?!?!?

Once again: people be aware of other people's wishes and wants, don't berude and selfish.... people spend so much time, money and energy on their weddings let them have the day they want...

jeans wearers at my wedding will be escorted out politely and firmly( by me, i my bridal gear if necessary!) , if you have a problem with that... well tough!!!!!

i don't want my linen to clash, why would i want people to clash, least of all with me!!!!!

Re: Who's the Bride???

haha! i hear you, LJ. we're doing an orchid theme, everything is either champagne, ivory, chocolate or chartreuse, our invitations will be letterpressed, the flower girls are wearing dupioni silk dresses, the cake is made by a "designer" -no less (oooh, aahhh :p), etc. etc... the list goes on and on and on.

if someone shows up in jeans, they're being shown the door right away! no questions asked and no answers will be heard :p call it immature but ****, after all that, someone comes in jeans?? wtf?

honestly, im having nightmares about the kids. girls, i am SO stressed about my cake and i'm petrified they'll stick their fingers in it or insist on cutting it with us. gah! i'm literally losing sleep over this! and i know i said i'd handle it but on this particular topic, i.e. kids and cakes, i'm afraid some little people are gonna get slapped by moi that night.

Re: Who’s the Bride???

loL! How mnay kids do you think will be at your wedding?
That was never a concern of mine before the wedding, but there were several at the wedding, 4 of his neices/nephews, about 10 more from the guests, and then 5 from my side…noone did anything like that, but maybe if my wedding had been in pakistan, i have no doubt that this would’ve happened !! (coz the kids there are so batameez! and that’s even IF ther’ed be a cake instead of runny ras malai that some kid would drop on my lengha

Re: Who's the Bride???

did that really happen with the ras malai?? damn.

there will be 3 of them, but when combined, their destructive force is approximately equal to 45 children. i kid you not.

Re: Who’s the Bride???

Oh goodness nO! At least, not to me :cb: I got a little carried away, htinking how my wedding would be had it been held in Pakistan

Re: Who's the Bride???

In the beginning we also thought it was ridiculous that he will be wearing jeans but then we realized that it just a phase he is passing through. kids and teens go through identity crisis at different stages and as adults we need to understand that and instead making the situation worst by enforcing our believes on them, we need to find some common grounds that make the best out of the situation. So my parents told him that he could only wear them if it is nothing funky, he wears proper shoes, and overall looks respectable and presentable. If I reflect back to my sister's wedding, I think it didn't matter much if he was wearing jeans or tuxedos but what mattered the most was his presence, involvement, and participation. That is what made it a memorable event for him and rest of us. We all had fun, we even joked him around, the younger kids were kind of annoyed by their parents that their dress suites didn't make them look cool like H bhai...lol... it was all good.

You cannot dictate people on what to wear, at the end of the day it really doesn't matter if someone shows up looking unusual. It is not their appearance that matters but their presence and participation that is what makes an event memorable.

Having said that, yes people should respect others wishes and try no do anything too drastic that would hurt or annoy or might make them feel that the event has been ruined because of that certain thing.

99% of the kids on my sister's wedding showed the best of their manners except this hybrid kid from the groom's side (half desi, half gora), he kept messing with the chairs on the stage and poking fingers in the cake..lol

Anyhow, both of you ladies congrats, I hope your weddings go as you have planned and be a memorable event for the rest of your life. :)

Re: Who's the Bride???

the kids are stressing me too! they are the biggest headache!!!!!!!! they ruined my sister wedding by getting in all the photos, climbing on the stage, pulling down the decor material, messing about with anything and everything.

i was too busy making sure my sister was ok and dealing with other things to scream at them ( parents present or no parents present, if they have a problem with me telling them off they should bring them up better, as kids my siblings and i were well behaved , so yeah it's the parents fault!!! oooo am i creating yet more controversy????)

my brothes were a waste of space and just stood there, this time they have the kid controller job... they are big and scary looking and they will be on the look out for the deviants and keeping them away from the important areas!!!!!.

I 've learnt from my sisters wedding and the same mistakes won't happen again!!!

i would like to ban kids but my nieces and nephews on their side are 10 in total and all under 10, but i will not have them ruin my wedding!!! i'm also thinking bouncy castles and magician in a side room to keep them entertained and out of the way!!!!

i'm a bridezilla and i don't care!!!!

Re: Who's the Bride???

Is this a thread in "Wedding forum" or "Military and Strategic Planning forum"? I am sure you girls have contingency plans for all possible worst case scenarios.

And girls do not make the same mistake US made in Iraq, have a proper "exit strategy" ready just in case.

Re: Who's the Bride???

lol, it's called being a perfectionist!!! i know for sure that i have put more effort and management into my wedding than the US

Re: Who's the Bride???

sorry... half got sent......the rest read : than the US government has put into any of their military and strategic planning when invading innocent countries!!!

Re: Who's the Bride???

The only thing I care about is seeing SomeGroovyChick's wedding pictures!

Re: Who’s the Bride???

LOL! have i talked about it enough, FF?

the kids are giving me nightmares… so yeah, i think im going to have to give in and get them their own damn cake. although im thinking after demolishing the buffet and dessert table, will they have enough energy to mess with my cake when we cut it at 10:30? hrmm… YES!!! of course thats if it makes it to 10:30 in one piece. hahaha… yeahhh… :stuck_out_tongue: every girlfriend of mine has orders to be on kid lookout… if they even hover anywhere near the cake, they’re getting told off… and if their mum’s object, well **** it. also, im placing the cake near my table so i can watch over it lovingly. hahaha i’m so anal about my cake! but its costing me $370!!! come ON. i need to be anal! thats a lot of money for dessert :stuck_out_tongue:

and finally, this is what the wedding plan looks like… some things have changed a bit. well the centrepieces don’t have pink sand in them- they have river rock so they’re better! haha and we’re not doing parasols cos the jungli kids will probably poke each other’s eyes out… and the bm’s are in green saris which are the color of the green dress in the pic… www.bodisdesign.com/wedding/elements_of_wedding.jpg

Re: Who's the Bride???

I agree, your stuff does look amazing SGC. I can't wait to see your pics! :)

Re: Who’s the Bride???

that is gorgeous, sehar! lovely! we’re going to do a mix of the one we chose and the one you showed me- we’re doing an illustration which has orchids, vines and leaves- and we’re gonna give it to the cake lady to put on the cake. i figure if we’re doing the theme everywhere, why not the cake too?

thanks girls! i’m really looking forward to it myself! and trust me, the pics will be all over this bridal forum like a very pleasant rash. haha

Re: Who's the Bride???

SGC everything looks lovely... love the colours you've chosen, so refreshing!
when is the wedding?

Re: Who's the Bride???

that cake is beautiful, maybe you guys should look for a higher cake stand (in terms of length) so kids can't reach to the cake easily...

Re: Who’s the Bride???

put a steel cage around it too :cb: or one of those mousetrap kinda devices , the moment someone approcahes it the trap releases and voila!

Re: Who's the Bride???

FF: i know! but andrew won't let me have it :P

Namkeen: thanks! its an outdoor summer wedding so we wanted to keep it nice and fresh and light. and its on august 5th IA... 3 months and some days to go!! yay!! :)

Lusi: the kids, bless them (unless they touch my cake!) are tall for their age! they look like amazonian warriors at this point, so i don't think a higher stand will do anything but attract them even more.

oh but wait... in terms of length? explain please!
