Who do you find inspiring in the Muslim world today? Why?
I find Syed Hassan Nasrallah from Lebonan for his courage, dedication, and honesty a true hero.
I also find Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad from Malaysia inspiring for his refusal to bow down to the enemies of Islam and more importantly for his economic reforms in Malaysia.
Re: Who do you find inspiring in the Muslim world today?
Shaykh Hamza Yusuf...he's a very active muslim and a great scholar alhamdulilah, he has and he still is doing lots of efforts to spread the message of Islam, may Allah reward him with goodness and preserve him.
Definately! and there are a few other scholars that are worthy of listening to in my opinion, Sheikh Hamza Yusuf, Anwar Al-Awlaki, Dr. Israr Ahmed, Siraj Wahaj.
Those are the few prominent ones that i listen to often, can’t think of more off the top of my head at the moment.
Shaykh Ahmed Ali (building community centers, hospitals, youth shelters/rehab, across UK and Pakistan + a brilliant scholar, a must listen speech is here)
I like listening to Anwar Al Awlaki, and Khalid Yasin, they are both very good lecturers, Alhamdulillah. Imam Anwar's Lives of the Prophets is an excellent series to listen to if you have the opportunity(I think it's on youtube) to do so, I highly recommend these two men. Hamza Yusuf is also quite good.
Re: Who do you find inspiring in the Muslim world today?
^^ real hero??
are you nuts!!
He is the guy who welcomed a 4 year old girl killer (samir kuntar) with open hands. That *********er killed the girl by thrashing her head with stone and they welcomed him like a hero. screw him
Re: Who do you find inspiring in the Muslim world today?
None other than the legendary Ahmad Shah Masood................ He is my one of the heroes. The recent history can not havew any other figure in his place.
Re: Who do you find inspiring in the Muslim world today?
I have a top five on inspiring Ulema for me
1) Sh. Hamza Yusuf Hanson
2) Sh. Anwar al Awlaki and Sh. Zaid Shakir
3) Sh. Muhammad AsShareef and Sh. Khalid Yasin
4) Sh. Yusuf Estes and Br. Zakir Naik
5) Sh. Nuh Ha Meem Keller and Sh. Abdul Hakim Murad
In terms of impact Sh. Nuh Ha Meem comes first, then Sh. Khalid Yasin, then Sh. Hamza Yusuf.
Each of them have unique gifts: Sh. Hamza - Eloquence and context, Sh. Awlaki - relevance and realisation, Sh. Zaid Shakir - puts it plainly and nicely easy to swallow, Sh. AsShareef is very good also on context and envisaging the sira, Sh. Yasin is pragmatic and direct utilises fear and cut throught the chase in positive ways. Sh. Estes is funny and good with making non-Muslims understand, Dr. Naik is massive on crowd pulling and presents scientific facts in context, Sh. Abdul Hakim is poised with the power of English and presents Islam in a manner that English speakers can understand it best. Sh. Nuh Ha Meem loads words with wisdom and power, the soaking time is long but the impact is high.
May Allah (SWT) protect our Ulema.
There are other ulema who do not work in the limelight at all. They are perhaps more influential than these scholars, because a lot of what is said by the above is in fact said to them by their teachers who are our precious elite scholars.
In terms of most authority you will see none of the above qualify except perhaps Sh. Nuh Ha Meem, they will not be as influential but indirectly they most possibly are.
