In the past couple of decades, so many houses of the companions and of the Prophet himself and other historical sites have been levelled to the ground only to be replaced by five star hotels. Surely it cannot be for fear of people getting involved in shirk. And even if it is, iam sure Saudis have enough resources and manpower, to appoint a couple of guards at the historical site preventing people from doin any shirk there.
Well those historical sites can also be turned into cesspool of shirk...

what about places that are not graves..houses for example...why demolish them. and fine dont have huge bldgs on graves, but if they are already there why knowck them down..its just a pace where an important person from our history is buried.
Now i go to my relatives graves to do fatiha, and even if I dont, knowing where my ancstors are buried is important, its part of my family history. Now I will not eb happy if some dumbass starts worshipping some grave in the cemetary and then the authorities bulldoze the entire qabristan.

You were not there on as a tourist enjoying "sightseeing". Just pray and come back. I hope what the authorities there have done stays that way. Fraudia sahab, agree with you there but its all a matter of belief on hadeeth. It is not permitted for us to make the graves into shrines or make tombs over them. That explains why they are plain in Al-Baqee graveyard in Medina.
