and purposeful desecration fo graves is soemthing that is also not liked. let the graves be as they are. And as far as building shrines how far are ppl willing to take it, what about where the prophet is buried?
I am not in favour of building tombs, but I am also not in favour of bulldozing graves.
The other aspect of this thread which seems to be conveniently forgotten now are the structures or sites that have historical significance for us, and how it is technically possible to expand without demolishign these sites.

Shirk is unforgivable!
Indeed shirk is unforgiveable and i pray to Allah to keep me away from it.
There are ample places in the world for "sightseeing" much more beautiful than dry hills of KSA. What we want to see is to look for oursleves what happened 1400 years ago.
Is it shirk to see 'khandaq' if it had been preserved? or the house of Abu Ayyaub Ansari or the well of Uthman ra etc?
