Gandhi was better than Osama in principal IMO. The biggest contrast is that Gandhi followed his religion in essense and Osama corrupted his religious ideologies...
Gandhi :
Followed the ideology of his religion (Jainism ) of non-voilance in totality
He had a large following
He died because he was pricipally advocating the rights of a supposed enemy.
Osama :
He adulterated ideology of his religion for his own liking. advocating for killing civillians and so on.
He was not a man of principal. His basic stance was that US forces should get out of Arabian penisula, later he changed his position.
He did not enjoy large following
( past tense due to an asumption that he is dead now)

Like it was necessary for you to say you like a Muslim more than a non-Muslim or a violent person over a pacifist. 
So exactly how was this Wali-Ullah dude responsbile for ousting the British when he died before they even started their rule over India? He preached death to the Hindus, not the British.

This is a very good timely topic for discussion. If some strong leaders do not emerge that advocate peace and non-violent methods of living, there is no counter for misguided hormonal adolescents = they're going to try to become heros by listening to zarqawi, osama, farrrak khan and similar elements.
Between the lack of postive leadership, the noise and confusion of violent entertainment and the din of the call from religious extremists, the Muslim youth are in grave danger

I think what people are missing here is that Ghandi was a brilliant political mind. Honest, he really was.
Half the things he did were stunts, and the idiot Engrazies fell for it. If you can beat your enemies by walking to a beach and making salt, and make them look the fool for it in the end...sure as hell better than loosing 50% of your population in a war.

Ghandi was not a pacifist either. When asked about sending troops to the war effort, he neither spoke against it or condemned the war. He was simply against agitating against the British. Actually, so was Jinnah and Nehru. It is a myth that all three wanted independence. IN fact, they simply wanted to be equal members in the British Empire.
To suggest anything else would be treason, and would have meant instant death.
But now, why do the white people love Ghandi so? Because he didn't buck the status quo. So while the English and Americans are bombing the chit out of Afghanistan and Iraq, they have the audacity to turn around and ask things like "where is the Muslim Ghandi?".
Oh, so you mean where is the servile Muslim who will toe the American line? That is how they think. If acting the role would result or aid in the disintegration of American hegemony, or make us equal players then hey, I'm all for it. But who here thinks these people don't learn from history?
So Americans want a man of peace...not one they can bargin with as equals (Ghandi never saw that in the end, Indians were still second class niggards as far as the British were concerned even after the fall of the Empire), but that can obey and follow orders. It worked for Ghandi because he lucked out...the Empire fell thanks to WWII, and the British had to go.
Ghandi worked once. The second coming will be met with a bullet to the head. Any Muslim standing up for a Muslim cause will be caused a closet Islamist, and either ignored (at best) or killed.

Islam does not need a gandhi or likes of him. It is other way around. Humanity needs Islam to succeed in life hereafter - the eternal one.
When people really embraced Islam, they bacame companions like Ali Ibn-e-Talib:razi: and Umer Ibn Al Khataab:razi: and conquerer like Tariq Ibn-e-Ziad :rehm: (Jabal-ut-Tariq or Jibraltor rings a bell?) or even Mehmood Ghaznavi (ouch!) or for the relatively recent history Muhammad Ibnul Qasim :rehm:

Respected Anwaar Qureshi,i agree with you, but how do you think / plan to bring Islam to humanity, i mean 13 centuries were only enough to bring it to 1/6 of humanity what would be efficient to convert the 5/6?and how?
