Where are players from Karachi in national team?

Re: Where are players from Karachi in national team?

You would be justified if no one from Karachi was in the team. But there are a couple of players from Karachi in the squad and a few recent players who were tried were from Karachi. Get over your inferiority complex.

Re: Where are players from Karachi in national team?

Faisal Iqbal has been on and off, and I prayed that he be not selected (alongwith parchi Farhat, siyasi Malik). Haven't seen Khurram so can't say why he is not part of the squad.

infriority complex I am trying to be nice and you pissing me off

this is the reason why MQM was formed you german bara suba racist

Re: Where are players from Karachi in national team?

while there have been concerns about bias in pakistani sports selections, i believe it is the least in Cricket due to visibility, and the bias in other sports is not a provincial or ethnic bias but more of a favouritism based on who knows whom.

reminds me of that famous song after pakistani hockey teams poor performance..btw if anyone ha a clip please post it

"iftikhaaaaaaaaaaaaar..oh iftikhaaaaaaaaaaaaar
mujh ko akela mil zara..
ai selector tera taaya duja tera phupa huaaaa"

Re: Where are players from Karachi in national team?

yaaaar u rock :)

nawazish karam shukria sherwani...:D

thank God this is an online forum... otherwise I'm sure you and your terrorist don would have sent out their hitmen by now to eliminate us "german bara sub racists"... more target killings on the way... why? because not enough Karachi players are in the team. wonderful!

Re: Where are players from Karachi in national team?

Pakistan finished 11th at the World Cup in Willesden in 1986!!!

So why you asked only as KARACHI and not sindh?

and what do you mean by solid cricket structure? Most of Afghanistani Cricket players were trained in Peshawar Clubs. I know they are not of the Top class crickets but from T20 I think their bowling was still good as appearing for the first time in history on the International grounds.

Well if you say how interesting they are then there is none who can be so interested to perform well and even then he get dropped.

:rotfl::rotfl:

yeah had it handy 'cause I posted it here some time ago in the showbiz forum. more info: Funniest Hockey Humor: Khalid Abbas Dar & Co. | ALL THINGS PAKISTAN : ALL THINGS PAKISTAN

Khalid Abbas Daar is a genius. his expressions, his deliberate attempts at being as baysuraa as possible, the anger he feigns at the team. just brilliant.

might wanna be careful with the laughing. Khalid Abbas Daar’s a Punjabi. not sure if you want to be caught enjoying a performance by a Punjabi artist. but mercifully I believe both Khalid Nizami and Arshad Mehmood are/were Karachiites though Arshad Mehmood might have a Punjabi background as well.

Ok. If you want me to ask this question then I will. :)
Why is there only one player from the whole province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa with a solid cricket structure, when we have 5 players from a single city?

my friend they will never accept it its just not possible next thing they will start calling you terrorist and crap
waste of breath..

thanks EB.

Re: Where are players from Karachi in national team?

so lets cool down the who racism and terrorism and this and that here fellas
chillax.

so yes from a pure ratio thing one can say that howcome a big city does not have players selected. but there is no population based quota, and its not democratic representation where you get reps based on population.

in the end it is talent, performance and results, because even if someone does get selected on favouritism due to connections, if the dude cant deliver, he would be out.

Now, for the karachi angle. I have not lived much in Pak, but the couple of years I did live there were in Karachi, and I have been back many times and know teh city well.

We lost entire age groups of atheletes in Karachi because of a couple of things, one being that ghuda gardee and politics were on the up and many teens were attracted to that, it was less appealing to be a star athlete in your college or even area team and more important to be involved in politics, whether it was apmso, jamiat, psf or whatever. the 90s were horrible and the entire sports culture of the city was destroyed. This is a discussion beyond just cricket, it impacted every sport. My limited experience was with the lens of table tennis.. in the 80s there was a bustling scene and many clubs, amroha, islamia, ncc, CAA, khokhar, etc etc with quality players at all levels, years later as I went to places like NCC (national coaching center) the level of sport, the focus and the quality of players had been impacted.

I am sure there was similar impact on other sports, because for years on end when ghunda gardee of haqiqi and altaf groups with each other and dheenge mushti with other political parties is what is out there in the streets..what will happen to sports?

and the impact of such eras does not appear just then, but years later as well

just a few thoughts

Re: Where are players from Karachi in national team?

another aspect of the prevalence of lahories in the team is that national cricket academy is based in Lahore (atleast its big center is). that might be attracting talent in, and nurturing it.

yup, academy makes a big difference..just like in the 80s the table tennis academy was at national coaching center in karachi and the major players arif nakhuda, arif khan and farjad saif were all from karachi, and later azhar shaikh and atta abbas as well.
