Re: Where are players from Karachi in national team?
Faisal Iqbal, Fawad, Younis, Sami, and Khalid Latif are from Karachi and they were given multiple opportunities but are out of the team for various reasons. Those who grabbed the oppertunity (Afridi, Kaneria) are in the team. What are you complaining about?
Karachi players treated unfairly? give me a break.
Karachi players have it so good. even all the rubbish ones stay in the team all the time. and even then they beech about a supposed anti-Karachi bias. chori aur ooper say seena zori. if the players aren't beeching then their "journalists" do their bidding for them. then there are always the administrators to whine for them.
here are some of Karachi's players...
maulana disco Afridi: for about 10 years of his 12-13 year career he has not deserved a place in the team yet he has been in there somehow. how? don't ask me. he even managed to become the captain of the test team when he didn't even deserve to be in a 30 men probables squad. why? because he is from Karachi. when Salahuddin Sallu was chief selector, he couldn't shut his mouth about wanting to see Afridi as captain. what a joke.
Kaneria: he has been guaranteed a place in the test team for so long without any pressure practically. yet what has he achieved for the team? how much has he accomplished? can he ever take wickets without conceding at least a 100 runs? even after all this investment, he still doesn't deliver with any consistency.
Faisal Iqbal: this guy was horrible. no need to say any more.
Khurram Manzoor: this guy was selected after extensive propaganda in The News. there are plenty of yellow journalists in Pakistan. but in the field of sports, there are only yellow journalists. article after article was written about what a great technique Khurram had. and when he wasn't picked right away, the same gentleman started shedding crocodile tears that Khurram wasn't being picked because he was from a humble background or was from Karachi and combinations thereof. I have no problem with Khurram. he showed a lot of fight in his last game. but the next Rahul Dravid he is not as the journalist was claiming.
Fawad Alam: same case as Khurram Manzoor. he is supposed to better than Brian Lara according to his lobby. give me a break. does he deserve more chances? yes. but is dropping him the huge travesty that some believe. hardly. they haven't been able to figure out how to use him which sucks for him. but he will be back. hopefully his Karachi-based lobby can stop whining.
Karachi's journalists/administrators should try to look at the quality of the players before they start whining about their players not being picked in the team.
Some people might not like this thread, but I think the question is genuine.
Why is there only player from Karachi in the current national team?
Karachi player:
Danesh Kaneria.
On the other hand, we see there are 5 players from Lahore presently.
Lahore players:
Imran Farhat
Salman Butt
Azhar Ali
Umar Akmal
Kamran Akmal
And in case anyone doesn't know, the current champion of Quaide Azam trophy, the premier first class competition, is Karachi Blues.
brother when ever you give them a proof of injustice to Karachi ALL THEM GERMANS FROM bara suba start talking crap like O provinces dont matter , and we one nation and crap, they will never accept that the team currently playing is Punjab 11 and not pakistan 11
Re: Where are players from Karachi in national team?
^ Here comes another oh we from Karachi are being victimised. Get over it, there should be no place for ethnic hatred spreaders. If a player is good enough he will be in the team. Pathetic statement like Punjab 11, only a racist bigot makes statement like this. I am outraged.

name some Karachi players who on merit should be in the team ahead of those already in there.
btw, do you realize how stupid it sounds to whine about the team being a Punjab 11 when the current captain of the odi and t20 team is a Karachiite who was also captain of the test team (and not deservedly) just one match ago? and just 12-18 months ago another Karachiite was captain of all three teams.
unless of course, you don't consider Afridi and Younis as Karachiites because they're Pashtun. in that case, only Altaf Terrorist Hussain has the medicine for your disease.
Re: Where are players from Karachi in national team?
GUYS ! I am not Rascist I am talking about FACTS
You guys Denying it makes you same as them rascist punjab selectors
ASAD SHAFIQ ranks number 4th in first class betting ranking 2009 -2010 and he is only 23 years OLD and did you know umar Amin the stupid guy who played the test series is on 19th position ..
Fawad AALAM ranks 5TH age 24 dont understand why the hell would you make him play a T20 when he average under 20 in that format ,
But when it comes to test he is a class batsman
top 1,2&3 batsmans are 30 plus and the reason I never mentioned them..
Re: Where are players from Karachi in national team?
No doubt these guys have been victims of the selection/PCB blunders. I mean, Fawad Alam tagged along for so long with the senior team without getting much chances. Luck was on the side of Umar Amin and Azhar Ali and they get drafted into the playing 11 on their first senior tour. For Fawad and Khalid Latif (Karachi) that wasn't the case but the selectors kept them in the squad, they never got much chances to perform in test cricket. They are also unluckly. Look at some people from the not too distant past. Navid Latif, Shahdab Kabir, etc not given enough chances to perform.
Mohammad Sami given enough chances really. I think Khurram Mansoor should have been persisted with. At least, he is better than Farhat. Though Farhat seems to be getting better. Lets see.

after using Sami's example, I'm not sure how anyone can claim that Karachi's players are discriminated against. except for the last 2-3 test he played, pretty much every game he played was because of charity.
Re: Where are players from Karachi in national team?
How can anyone claim non-bias when 5 players in the current national team are from only one city?
How can the best talent in the country be confined in one city only? And it is not even the best talent. Just look at the fragility of current batting line up.
It feels divisive to raise this question, but what is more divisive is this practice of biased selection. I don't think this bias has always been the case in Pakistan. It is only showing in the current line up.

5 players from one city just means friendship/rishtaydaari. There was a time there were 4-5 Pathans in the team, I don't recall any major complaints.

meray bhai koi aqal ko haath maro... you say you don't follow the game closely yet you think there is discrimination against Karachi by taking a quick look at the team? koi khuda ka khauf karo.
the current chief selector is from Karachi. Salahuddin Sallu was from Karachi and was as biased in favor of Karachi as you can get. the captain of the current odi and T20 team is from Karachi. our second last captain was from Karachi. the last few openers (Khalid Latif/Khurram Manzoor/Shahzaib) have all been from Karachi though it should be obvious now that guys like Azhar Ali, etc have a lot more to offer than Karachi's top order batsmen. but you don't hear Azhar Ali whining about not getting picked due to being Punjabi? Danish Kaneria is from Karachi and has been playing since the beginning of time... yet he is still garbage and continues to be picked. Sami was absolute rubbish (until recently). and played lord knows how many games.
unfortunately some of us will never get out of this mindset
true !!!!
ehsaan brother !!!
I love Imran Khan
my all time favorite BOWLER is WAQAR YOUNUS
I loved Inzamam-UL-HAQ
Saqlain Mushtaqs wife studied with me in Stockwell park school she is a very good friend of mine
I really like watching aamir bowl and love to see him bowling as well as pray for his success and they all from Punjab ..
but there are few batsman's in Karachi who are technically very sound and deserve to play test for Pakistan I have mentioned names below with rankings ..
We won the TEST against Australia we won it because of OUR bowling and not batting lost 4 wickets in 40 runs if it was 60 or 70 runs we had to chase in the last day would have been completely different story ....
either you get some one like aamir sohails class opener ( not mentioning saeed anwar coz he is from khi )

A quick look at the team does not require close following of the game.
I did not say that such biased selection has always been the case in Pakistan. Not it has not been. I was only talking of current selection.
