Interesting reading....so with so many stories of functions spanning years and years....could I propose that we hold a Valima now - 7 years after our wedding. Hubby's side didn't hold a Valima for our wedding...don't get their philosophy!

I have half a mind to propose it - what with MIL here at the moment too....just to see the reaction:)

Yeah the UK reception 2.5 years after the wedding was ouur Valima. Logistics didn't allow us to go there any sooner.

My baat pakki was in or around October 2006 i think.
We opted straight for nikah instead of engagement to make things halal. November 2006.
Rukhsati/Valima: May 2007 (exactly 6 months later).

My sister on the other hand will have a whole year between nikah and rukhsati because thats how things worked out for her and BIL and how the parents decided it.

thanks soni. i don't know if they are just mean - they just have issues, lol and they like everything to be done their way and what they think is right. they are always worried about 'what people will say'. he hasn't finishes his edu, his older brothers aren't married yet (one is getting married finally which has given us this chance). etc etc etc!

Baat Pakki in Aug 2003 and got married in July 2006- almost three years later. We waited so long because both of us were still studying. There was no hurry in 2006 either, everything was planned just 3 months before the wedding. I got my dress only 5 days before the wedding date!

Thanks! I know that both sets of parents were just fed up of introducing us to potentials. They were just happy that we liked each other and were like quick before they change their minds!

The wedding is in the UK - in the midlands.
