When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave

Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave

It is confirmed only if you exclude all those who differ from your interpretation of quran and sunnah from 1, 2 and 3.

It is evident from even this forum That these things are open to interpretation.

Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave

Let them. It’s their loss of they are on wrong path. But no need to go destroying graves and tombs if you don’t like them. If they are non-Muslim according to you, let them be. No need to destroy their sacred places.

Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave

no pious person ever asked to make masjid over grave, near grave, around grave (their own or others’).

Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave

I advocated destroying graves and tombs???

Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave

No they are not open to massive wide interpretation. What you were talking about was life after death. The matter of help from the dead is different. Life after death does not carry massive interpretational differences. What you may see on forums is straight up Jahalat from people who are influenced by something else, like denial of possibility of help from passed away souls. They then take on other dark positions like denial of life in the grave. Not justifiable positions but dark jahalat.

Such positions are utterly ignorable, so there is no big interpretational differences among those who know the Quran and Sunnah.

Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave

The verse was revealed concerning martyrs but the principle remains the same for all those upon whom there is reward from Allah Most Merciful for what they strived for in life. The Awliya especially so

Do not call them dead [2:154]
and
Do not think of them as dead [3:169]

The reason for revelation was that the hypocrites were saying Fighting in the way of Allah gets you killed and dead.

What are you saying again, that everyone else is dead dead? That is similar to their beliefs actually, the hypocrites.

Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave

Death is separation of Soul and Body

What the good and the bad say on their way to the Grave [after death]:

**Hadith #6,

Narrated Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri : Allah’s Apostle said, “When the funeral is ready (for its burial) and the people lift it on their shoulders,** then if deceased is a righteous person he says, ‘Take me ahead,’ and if he is not a righteous one then he says, ‘Woe to it (me)! Where are you taking it (me)?’ And his voice is audible to everything except human beings; and if they heard it they would fall down unconscious.”
**
(Sahih Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 23, Number 462

,This shows that the Dead can not only hear us, but they are also aware of what is happening in this world. And their voice is audible to everything except human beings.

Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave

The body dies but the soul does not. In our graves we will still be “alive” in the sense that our souls will still be aware to their surroundings. There are plenty of hadith that support this view. Some are quoted in the post above mine. We give salam to our brothers and sisters who have passed on when we visit their graves. They can hear us they just can’t reply to us. This does not just apply to martyrs.

Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave

There is a difference between the martyrs and others and it is good to understand this.

والفرق بين حياة الشهداء وغيرهم من المؤمنين الذين أرواحُهم في الجنة من وجهين

The difference between the life of the martyrs and others from among the believers who are in Paradise is in two respects:

أحدهما: أن أرواح الشُّهداء تُخلق لها أجسادٌ، وهي الطَّير التي تكون في حواصلها، ليكمل بذلك نعيمها، ويكون أكمل من نعيم الأرواح المجردة عن الأجساد، فإن الشهداء بذلوا أجسادهم للقتل في سبيل الله، فعُوِّضوا عنها بهذه الأجساد في البرزخ

The first difference is that they have bodies created for them in the form of birds and this is more complete then simply having the souls without the body.

والثاني: أنهم يُرزقون في الجنة، وغيرهم لم يثبت له في حقِّه مثل ذلك

And second they are given Rizq while for others this has not been established.

It has been narrated on the authority of Masruq Who said:

We asked 'Abdullah about the Qur'anic verse:" Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay, they are alive, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord.." (iii. 169). He said: We asked the meaning of the verse (from the Holy Prophet) who said:

The souls, of the martyrs live in the bodies of green birds who have their nests in chandeliers hung from the throne of the Almighty. They eat the fruits of Paradise from wherever they like and then nestle in these chandeliers.

Once their Lord cast a glance at them and said: Do ye want anything? They said: What more shall we desire? We eat the fruit of Paradise from wherever we like. Their Lord asked them the same question thrice. When they saw that they will continue to be asked and not left (without answering the question). they said: O Lord, we wish that Thou mayest return our souls to our bodies so that we may be slain in Thy way once again. When He (Allah) saw that they had no need, they were left (to their joy in heaven).

Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave

Thus, while the ordinary believers die since their bodies are destroyed such is not the case with martyrs. Rather, they have bodies created in the form of birds and are given Rizq.

Thus, the Verse is specific to the martyrs and is signaling them out for the great reward they get for getting themselves killed in the way of Allah.

Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave

True but normal people who die aren’t completely dead in the grave. If they were we wouldn’t give salam to them. There IS a difference between martyrs and normal people but both types are still “alive” in the grave. One is not more aware than the other.
The verses you are quoting are specific to martyrs however the other hadith which have been quoted by vroom and other posters are in general for everyone who passes away.
And Allah knows best.
