When the Prophet (ﷺ) became ill, some of his wives talked about a church which they had seen in Ethiopia and it was called Mariya. Um Salma and Um Habiba had been to Ethiopia, and both of them narrated its (the Church's) beauty and the pictures it contained. The Prophet (ﷺ) raised his head and said, "**Those are the people who, whenever a pious man dies amongst them, make a place of worship at his grave and then they make those pictures in it. Those are the worst creatures in the Sight of Allah**."
[Sahih Al-Bukhaari Hadith No. 1341]
Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalaani the great Shaafi Muhaddith and scholar writes:
**
And it has passed that the prohibition for that was only in the case when there is fear that people will do at the graves what those who were cursed did. And as for when there is not any fear then there is no prohibition. And those scholars who considered this to be from blocking the means (to something impermissible) have said that the prohibition is unrestricted (i.e. to be at all times regardless). And this is the truth due to the general import in all the Hadith which have prohibited from taking the graves as Masjids and because building Masjids on the graves is from the greatest means to Shirk because of those who are buried in them.
Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave
^Rasoolullah is buried where he passed away. That place was asiha’s(ra) room. He lived there in the accommodation by the mosque.
According to hadees narrations a prophet should be buried where he passed away, on that principle it was decided by companions to make that the resting place.
Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave
Is this thread with regards to buildings over and around graves?
There is two positions in Islam, with regards to building Mazarat, 1 that it is allowed 2 that it is not
Some Shafi scholars have mentioned its permissibility on private land, as opposed to its prohibition on public land
Both positions are actually accepted within Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah, i accept them both although it is a matter of iktilaf
The position that it is allowed, to build around a Grave including a roof cover, has prevailed just as it did for Masjid e Kahf in Quran Pak
**
Quran states: Thus did We make their (i.e. Ashaab al-Kahf) case known to the people, that they might know that the promise of Allah is true, and that there can be no doubt about the Hour of Judgment. Behold, they dispute among themselves as to their affair. (Some) said, “Construct a building over them”: Their Lord knows best about them: “THOSE WHO PREVAILED OVER THEIR AFFAIR SAID: LET US SURELY BUILD A MOSQUE OVER THEM” (Surah al-Kahf 18:21)**
So the action of “building” has been both commendable and reprehensible as we see in the Hadith Sharif.
Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave
The correct translation here is not “at” his grave … But appoint on his grave worship status or turn his grave into a place of sajdah … And yes I disagree with the translator.
Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave
Thats why i am always against the idea of Dargah shareef, or anything like that. Another example would be..making mouselam for Benazir Bhutto..and having her pictures of her all. Strickly not allowed as far as my knowledge goes.
Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave
The Graves are to be taken as places of Dua [Worship], but not to direct acts of worship directly towards them [Sajda]
Every time we go to Graves we Worship Allah by invoking Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala for them. Peace be upon You [As Salam Alaikum], reading Fatiha and Surah Ikhlas, Durood
All the above acts are directed towards Allah Most High, with the exception of the Salam, and what is meant by the Salam is ‘‘Allah put peace upon them’’ although it is said directly to the people ‘‘peace be with you’’
Conclusion is that we take Graves as places of Worship!
Conclusion 2 is that we take the Graves as a place of Tawassul, since we desire the Muslims to return Salam to us, and we recite Surah al Fatiha for ourselves especially at these sites
Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave
I have never thought about whether I support ISIS or not. Why? Because for starters all the media is controlled by non Religious people and media is propaganda. As a Muslim I am obliged to verify information before passing judgement. I do not have credible information in favor or against ISIS. And when such is the case I am also obliged by the Qur’aan not to pursue that which I have no knowledge of.
Thus, my stance on ISIS is I have no idea. Nor will be I asked for what they did so I am not worried.
Given this, if you think I am supporting ISIS because of what I write, then I only write what is written in the books of classical scholars. If this gives the impression I am supporting ISIS then who knows maybe they are on the right path?
Re: When a pious person died they make a place of worship at his grave
No one knows what happens after death. Most of the ‘views’ are mere speculations.
If you believe dead people are ‘alive’ in another state of being, then go ahead and ask away. If you believe dead people are dead and can’t do anything until the day of judgement, then don’t go to graves and ask for help.
In either case, please don’t call the opposing view as kafir, mushriq, non-muslim, etc.
