Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

im shocked to see some of the answers here, when did become so 'OK' for women to smoke and when did it shift to a petty issue? y hav ppl become so numb to it..

NO ONE mentioned the consequence it has on the child , the family

NO ONE mentioned tht once things like these get in ur mind it kina becomes 'OK' u lose ur boundary or the line becomes vague somewhere ths when affairs, being batamez with husband etc may also arise (not always but dunt u feel boundaries become unclear?)

It like to contradict my very close frnd barbiecue and ask her to define her audience a lil bit, i mean look around on this forum and jus peak into the wedding forum..see the number of posts their. To tell u the truth most pakistani women are taking the easier way out, they study and get married ( not all but alot) its definitely changed since our mothers time they got a chance they grabbed it and became teachers, nurses, air hostesses and now pakistani gurls at 17 plan their lavish weddings and thn coming to Life1 and complaining abt their MILs.

Im disappointed here cuz no one even touched upon the issue..face it WOMEN SMOKING IS MORE SERIOUS its not a sexist comment. You teach anything to a women she carries and spreads it to her generations unlike men.

Its not abt huka or cigrattes c'mon ppl...u all missed the point completely!!!

Although i got my answer it's such a done to death/seen to death thing tht it has moved to the petty side now. It's like getting a tan (just an example dun catch my neck for it) its such a norm tht its not even worth discussing or pointing out, yes its bad but we have 'bigger issues'.

Trust me this is a bigger issue, this generation on most men have turned out complete waste of existence and i blame the pakistani way of upbringing men get in our society by making him the king. This was a mistake everyone ignored from our parents generation which resulted in educated jahils in our society (who were sent to UK with all their parents money, got a fancy degrees came back and behind closed doors hit their wife).

This is going to have horrible impact on the coming generation because we have labelled in our mind as 'petty'!

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

^ smoking has exactly the same health impacts on a man as it does a woman so why do you see it as worse in a woman?

Im not attacking you at all but i just dont get it to be honest!

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

This has to be a ****ing joke.

same can be said for having a boyfriend for 10+ years…

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

Do you really think mentioning the ill effects of smoking including the bad effects on the newborn babies to hell bent waana-be liberal and feminists would do any benefit? :D

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

Not true.

Perhaps you have not read gender differences in terms of smoking.

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

You are connecting vastly different issues. From smoking to affairs? I dislike both (dislike being an understatement), but at the end of the day, the former is not immoral while the latter is.

The burden of producing "good" offspring is not solely on women. Men and women don't act in isolation of each other. Neither do children only model after their mothers.

What consequences does women smoking have that men smoking does not? I'm genuinely interested in knowing despite understanding that you are not merely talking about smoking but also about "boundaries."

ps how did you go from smoking to bad Pakistani men?

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

Unless a woman is preggo whats the difference?

I just skimmed through some research papers and all the results are inconclusive on the affects of women and men unless a woman is pregnant thats a WHOLE different story.

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

This is exactly wat i meant by perspective, thanks sara

Although since the talk is of my relationship i found someone i connected with a long time ago and made it work for 10yrs on a computer, i dunt wana get into the meaning of a 'boyfriend' (and if seeing someone 8times in 10yrs with parents even counts as crossing boundries) but just cuz i found someone i wanted to marry dint real erase my boundries..

any which ways answering ur question generally being 'OK' to having boyfriends 'does' make ur boundries unclear. Think abt it for a min Person A starts with having a boyfriend and you dun need to be a genius to know whats coming next and what limits will be crossed..

totally a different topic all together but jus to prove a point..

(im not a phyco conservative person infact im from a very modern family)

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

With all due respect things are connected. im looking at smoking as a social issue and its impact on generations and all u see it as is a med problem. Change ur perspective cuz its not always abt dying and health affects its sometimes also about wht r we passing to our generations..

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

Like what? What does a kid think when daddy smokes? What does a kid think when mommy smokes? (as a social issue)

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

Not just based on being pregnant. There are far many gender differences in this regard.

It starts from nicotine effects, to the amount of dependancy, to ability to get off smoking.

Search it again.

You added you could not find the difference. :sighs:

You did not search it right I think.

I can post a load of information refuting you. Basically there are a lot of gender differences in smoking.

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

even as a social issue, its a bad habit for men and an equally bad habit for women, children learn from both their parents.

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

Agree in gender differences in smoking/addictive behaviours of any sort, will do some research maybe i need to update my knowledge!

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

My imam once said a beautiful thing tht stuck by me and no matter how much the dynamics of the world changes this remains true.. when a woman learns something she passes it to her generations..so when u have a choice to educate someone in ur family a girl or a boy...chose a gurl cuz she is the future and her knowledge will spread faster than a man's..

if im not rong similar is also in Quran..following this theory be it good habits/ bad habits it applies..if a woman has a bad habit it'll spread in her coming generations.

A man is usually outside for work tht is why he may or not expose alot of his bad habits to his kids while a woman nurtures her kids and family, a kid will immediately pick up on bad breath, cig in her purse or even seeing her smoke at home..

Think of urself as a smoking mother for a sec and think isn't it worse...its not sexist, its a fact!

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

I dont deny inspiron but SOCIALLY it's worse for women thn men!

secondally WHEN and HOW did this issue like some other petty issue?? WHY isn't it being thought upon seriously..

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

I dont want to argue against religion at all however if we look at things from a social point of view, in my own family I know i see my dad as a role model and I have out of a much closer bond with him compared to my mother ( even though i lover her very much ) picked some of his good and bad habits. So both parents have a masssive impact on kids in my opinion!

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

Great. Have fun. :)

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

by socially do you mean people will judge her as a 'bad person' more?

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

i have PMed you, dont want to ruin the thread.

Re: Whats this new trend of pakistani women smoking?

You cant seem to wrap arnd it cuz Mashallah ur mum is a nice women

A mother who is a gambler or smoker etc definitely has more impact on a child than a father in a similar situation..i cn make u understand the dynamics why but needs loads of typing..id leave the topic here :)

thnks for ur 2cents
