i am, and according the some of the research i have read and the doctors ive spoken to, ive come to the conclusion that smoking a shisha with no tar and nicotine is not as harmful....jus saying

however i dont think its safe!

some say smoking shisha for an hour is equal to smoking 200 cigarettes, a consultant of respiratory at Glenfield hospital who was someone who i worked under for ages carried out some research saying its really not as harmful at all.

There is research supporting both and just like smoking cigarettes its a choice

Its been on geo news and all y know.

I once saw a documentary on geo on the high trend of female medical students smoking..
They showed many groups of lahore medical college students puffing and 'cooling' it out on campus..

And YES these were medical students..

Medicine can get so stressful sometimes all i want to do is take something to make the stress go away, all jobs are stressful but apparenttly medicine has the highest drug alcohol abuse and suicide rate. woohoo

this isnt something as new as may seems to you. I remember an aunt used to smoke a petite and slim cigarette called moor or something. for women its more of a trend following and kinda status symbol.

An interesting theory relating to smoking and of analysing adolescents smoking habits is that of the 'time preferance'.
'time preferance (from a branch of economics called 'addiction economics') states that people base thier consumption (smoking) patterns over the present and future periods. In this scenario it explains that these young people have planned to smoke in thier youth ages and give up in thier latter ages. The cumultive effect being that they would not be ruining or detrimenting thier lives...

However, such adoloscents, often fail to account for the other reality linked to consumption of drugs/tobacco which is that of 'addiction'. Many of these youngeters become hooked on thier 'temporary pastime' which was never intended and this then becomes a problem for them.

So thier can behaviour be explained by peer pressure and time preferance .

^ The same applies. Most 'intelligent' young people- like these college girls, base thier smoking decisions on 'smoking as much as for today, quitting tomorow'.

They think they are making 'rational consumer decisons', in the sense that they are deriving the best outcome from thier decision to consume tobbaco.
The best outomes refers to the the 'social benefit' they derive from smoking today and missing out on the harmful effects of smoking as they have 'planned to quit tomorow'.
The decisions, at first glance, seems wise and that why it is referred to as in economic studies of smoking as a rational consumer choice.

Therefore, while one thinks adoloscent smokers are thinking so 'irrationally', actually they may be ful infromed of the costs and benefits of smoking and are actually making 'rational choices' for themself.
