What's in

Right now for Shalwar kameez?

I havnt brought any in donkey’s years and someone is actually offering to buy me some, so I thought I might as well take advantage, but I don’t know what’s in.

Colours?
Shalwar types?
Kameez length?
Embroidery?

Any idea’s would help.

Thankyou!

Re: What's in

The kameez'es are long now..uptill the knee's, and the shalwars have transformed into capri's (mid-calf) length. The colors are beiges, teal, emeralds, navy blue's etc. The "cape" is back in too..where girls are wearing short shirts underneath and layer on a flowy cape on top of it.

Re: What's in

capes??!! its the 70's all over again!

Re: What's in

A month ago when i was in islamabad/pindi side, i didnt see anything relatively new as to what the normal people were wearing. It was the same old with short, knee length shirts with less ghair wali shalwars. There were other techniques around though like gota on the shalwar, types of laces etc used. BUt i didnt see anything drastically different. There were some capris walking around but not a lot. I say get what YOU like.

Re: What's in

Hey Ira, long time no see. Married life that busy eh. :)

I dont see me wearing the capri length unless I want a jhuti from my daddi!

Am not too fond of lace either...

urgh, this is going to harder than I thought.

So theres nothing like amazingly new out in Pakistan in terms of style?

Re: What's in

What do you mean by the cape?

Anyone have any pics? It sounds interesting.

Re: What's in

Its usually opaque material on the inside kameez (which is very short) and then a layer of sheer flowy fabric on top..cream shalwars are IN with everything...I was in karachi 5 days ago =) and everyone's wearing capri's..(mid-calf) and long kameezes.

The constant fashion is a mid-length kameez..with a round daman..alot of piping and embellishments on the dupatta =)

Re: What's in

Salamz sis , do you mean the smock kind of tunics/dresses? that are now in like those in the 70's?
i was in karachi last summer and i saw lots of white pants ,,so its now cream huh?
Sheesh the fashion is so rapidly changing in pakistan that u cant really get a hold of it and before u get your dresses back from the darzi the trrends have already changed again.

I like the pant idea which can be worn easily here in european countries aswell...but in my opinion if you dress well as in good material, put extra accesoiries good pair of shoes and a funky bag then you are ready to go.
I am a hijabi u wont see me in sleevless and mid calf trousers so i guess the long shirt and long pants will look hideous?

i guess i will stick to the traditional shalwar kameez with nice different cuts and embellisments/embroiduries on it, sounds boring but it really isnt ! lol
It's all about the fabric and how you match things i guess....lol any good tips for hijabies here in the house?

Re: What's in

as in :

Colours? i think you can wear any color, that suits your skin tone
Shalwar types? pants less ghair wala , and capris with splits should be alright whatever fits your mood,
Kameez length? keep it medium then you will always be safe lol
Embroidery? i think mostly around the colar....lovely

Re: What's in

salwars are so comfi

Re: What's in

i think the capri fashion is ridiculous , doesnt suit everyone

also as a hijabi i wud never wear it i will stick to my shalwar kameez . i love the short shirt and tang ponchay wali shalwar. it looks hot

Re: What’s in

well thas exactly the same thing though aint it , with the short shirt and tang pounchon wali salwar..

:superman: .. i think you should buy a cape like superman.

Re: What’s in

aren’t capris also more fitted nowadays? they’re following the skinny jean trend too.
like this - http://www.bargello.com/Hibiscus+Nube-228-New+Arrivals-107-2626.htm

its a very limited look though in that unless you have a fab body and no curves, it isnt going to work!

Re: What’s in

uhm whats that supposed to mean?..

groovychick..yah i have seen those fitted capris but also seen some loose walis too…i think slim girls can look nice in them otherwise its a big no no…

Re: What's in

ok so one should also keep in mind that fashion isnt all same all over pakistan...the lates news on fashion i got from karachi is knee length shirts (printed or plain) with striped pants yeahhh theres a lot of striped cloth available in karachi for the pants....and wot ppl r doing is putting on plain patti (band) on printed shirt's daman and having embroidery or laces on that patti u can also have printed band on printed shirts...sequence is still IN in Karachi whereas its OVER in isloo sity KHADI style is IN at isloo cuz of the cold weather medium shirts with collars...lovely stoles/shwals and wide paincha shalwars are in also the sherwani style is quite in

Re: What’s in

i think u need the cape more and make urself scarce from this thread.

Re: What's in

i agree , it looks real nice on slim girls

also plain kameezein wid printed shalwars r really in . the sort u wud see in indian dramas also u get chiffon dupattas wid dem . i gt so many of those suits for my wedding from mums side.

also another trend on the more fancy side of clothes is the plain shalwar wid chiffon kameez n sum sitaray on it and then a real heavy or full dupatta.

looks awesome and their suitable for party wear and even weddings

Re: What's in

Yeah i saw a lot of khaddi style in islamabad/pindi as well as warm materials with sequence/sitaray. Actually they had sitaray on anything they had. Some of the dresses looked pretty hot.

Re: What's in

Yeh sitaray are real in . i gt a beautifull black suit wid red sitaray on it in khadar style from karachi company.

Re: What's in

last aug i visited pk sequence/sitaray n mirror work is so in not only on clothes but handbags and even on sandles.
