My wedding is coming up in Dec inshallah im from London and will be moving to Lahore as my hone wala husbaaaand is from there… but i’m leaving in Nov!!!
I will be starting my packing after Ramadan finishes, which is guna take waaaaay loooooong.
I just started making shopping lists of what i need to take and what i need to buy, prob is i dnt know what’s available in lahore now? i haven’t been in 6yrs!!!
could u guys plz recommend what i shud b stocking up on…
i mean does lahore even have Mac make-up or luxury make-up brands or do i need to go Selfridges n stock up :-S
n wat about designer labels like Chanel, LV, Gucci, is that also available???
i was thinking shoes r a good thing to take, i dnt like paki shoes for some reason, i sound like a snob lol…
oh my sis n law told me to bring lingerie, she said its not v nice in pak hehe…

lahore has everything you will need. don't take too much! lahore has amazing furniture, clothes, shoes, make-up etc. it wont have the bond street stores...;) but then if you are going to settle in pakistan, you will have to get used to this new change. lol. also you can find beautiful lingerie in pakistan. pakistan have everything except tesco's! lol!
how will you set in lahore after living in london? wow. that is going to be big change esp going after 6 years. pakistan is another world! lol!

I would bring everything that i would need for at least first 3 months.
Things like my make-up, perfumes, purse and shoes. Shampoo or conditioner if you use a certain type or kind. Face cleansing stuff.
The thing that you have to keep in mind is that before and at least 1 month after your wedding time will be hectic. You don't want to be running out of things or hunting for thing in lahore. I am sure you will have enough stress already. So, just to be on safe side i would suggest you to take the things u would need for the first few months.
After that you will start adjusting to things over there and the hunting part will be a lot easier.
agree with iyla. lahore has everything now. just get some fresh products for yourselfs (cosmetics, hair products) because they dont have as big of a selection of quality cosmetics/shades. everything else, you can find there.
cosmetics/special prodcuts if u need them, and lingerie, and maybe some western wear. sneakers and several comfrotable shoes. I dont know about you but if i could easily find it here in my country i'd never waste my time hunting for it in Pakistan.
It depends. I would say stock up for atleast a year. Pak does have a lot of things now but def not everything. They def do not have authentic LV gucci or any other such high end brand and I would not trust buying it from someone who claims its real. As far as makeup is concerned, shops there def sell mac makeup but they arent authorized resellers and again i would not buy from them specially because i wouldnt know how old the stuff is. If you are gonna be travelling to dubai or london often, then u have nothing to worry about. you can continue shopping outside of pak.
for shoes, it depends on ur taste. i def hated pakistani shoes. i was living in khi and i used to do all my shopping in ny cuz i came to ny every summer. but there were definitely a couple of nice shoe shops in khi but they were relatively pricey compared to the other shoe boutiques there. im sure the same is the case with lahore.

ohhh sumo my aunt from khi bought me some sandals from step zone n some other shop near there, they were gorgeous. i wore it here n every1 asked where i got them from. but yeh they were even pricey if u convert to pounds....
but i guess the hardest part will be adjusting to the lil things we take for granted here, like Sky plus :) cold weather :) walking on pavements :) wearin what the hell u want when u want, like goin tesco's in ur pj's :) selfridges n bond st n harrods :)

I agree with bride2be. Shoes are not that nice, I love the khussey though and wear them all the time and flip flops. You do not seem to be a khussey fan or I could be wrong. Anyways do stock up on shoes. You will miss clarks ecco etc if you have shoes from there.

Well I got most of my stuff from England... Make-up esp, you def get fresh makeup thr... Tho now some places in lahore offer good stuff..
I know some good lingerie shops in Lahore, pm me if you need more info...
To be honest didn't find anything good in England as wanted something nice but covered lol... Bhs has really good stuff, so yea got few from Bhs hehe......

im starting to find it abit scary bcoz im gunna miss my family so much ....
omg scary is an understatement...iv been so stressed n anxious since i got engaged, iv lost half my hair lol :-S but it hit me hard bout 2 months ago..now im getting really emotional. Iv just got this nasty feeling im guna find it really hard :( esp dealin with the heat

iv bought loadsa nice jewellery, that i know isnt available in Pak, iv bought new handbags, sunglasses, trainers, sports wear n western wear, shoes mostly sandals, ohhh also takin my laptop...v important
-chocolates(i dun like the ones in pak)
-perfumes(sum places in pak dun sell original)
-makeup, i know everyone gets its from abroad mostly,even my in laws want the ones from outside pak!
-anything u like on a daily basis as consumable, i used to get milk for my tea from dubai!
-pictures of ur family!!
-shampoos and conditioner
-skin care products(moisturising creams,cleansing milk etc)

wow, congrats!! Ummm i wud stock up on most things, dont go by wot ppl say that u can find things there, i dnt know abt now i havnt been since 4 yrs, but its never really the same so dnt take a chance...
take make-up, take toiletries especially shampoo and soaps they are NOT the same over there, Ummm I even took cleaning products like flash and domestos hahaha dnt worry if u cant take the bottles stock up on wipes, Im a neat freak and always useto wipe down the toilet!!! hahaha i even took the mr muscle wipes, and pledge wipes they do the job.
take medicine, like paracetamol, cough syrups, and things like that.
AGHHHH!! im so freaked out jst making this list...depending on ur husbands household id take all of tesco if i could!!!

If u desperately want a particular bag, pair of shoes etc of Chanel, Gucci, LV u can always just order over the phone at stores like Selfridges, Harrods and Harvey Nicks and ask them to send it over to u in Pakistan..
@ iyla: OMG! really??? half my suitcase was full of that stuff!!!! and my moms had the stuff to clean the kitchen...now dnt get me wrong my grandparents house is pretty clean but me and my mom are neat freaks......germs MUST die!! haha :D
Oh yea and the milk tastes weird, no matter wot brand it is....but i guess u cant really take milk there with u...unless its powder milk....
but now that i think abt it...if u really cant find somthing u need in pakistan...u cud hop over to dubai and stock up!!
oh and as for lingerie there is a BIG la senza store in lahore...i think that area is gulberg but then again im cluless....
im moving to karachi... my wedding is in oct and going right after eid...im still doing my shopping but u can get everything in pk now..im getting so much stressed now....ab time bohot kum hai...i havent event start packing yet...im sooo stressed
saimasood, i read ur post and felt like id written it myself! im moving in Nov to get married in Dec too, and am also going to start packing after Ramzan! AND i also live in London :) only two differences between us:
1) im moving to islamabad; and
2) ive been back and forth since i got engaged a few years ago.
overall, as everyone else has also said, u can pretty much find anything and everything there. but u dont want to have to shop around for things like cosmetics and lingerie after u get married, regardless of wat country ur in, right?? stock up on those two things for say 3 months post-wedding. by then, you'll have settled in and will start exploring the shopping there... hey, maybe we should start a "londoners in pakistan" thing and do our shopping together :) all the best!
i love this thread! i'm getting married in winter too inshAllah and have been trying to shop for all the things i need..i'll be moving to lahore. i'm not from london though! :P lol i think i really should get some shoes and sandals...i got a bunch of make up to take too. i just hope it doesn't melt in the summer heat!!
