Re: Sharaab aur Raag
I heard marhoom used to be behosh at the end of concerts.
Keeping the religious grounds aside, I don’t think that poets and singers in Pakistan consider it a taboo to drink. Reading Kishwar Naheed’s book Ruswaiyan Shanasaiyan, in which she mentions that every evening, at Sufi Tabassum’s home, they used to serve cold / chill wine to guests and guests included famous poets and singers. She mentions that while celebrating Faiz Saheb’s birthday once arrangement were handed over to her. Different people came to ask for contribution for the event and one of the contribution that she asked from some one was ‘aaj shaam ki sharab ka kharcha aap ke zimme’.
