What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!

re: What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!

well, if they add cowardice, beghairti, incompetence, treason, massive corruption to their arsenal, then Pakistani cricketers will be qualified to become Pakistani army generals as well.

re: What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!

This most experienced player is BS. He was Inzi's fav in the worst times of Pak cricket. He continued because of Inzi and his protege. He was a mediocre keeper from beginning. Inzi like many other players had fav in keeping as well. That gave him the long run. Otherwise a youngster might have taken over a long time ago and would have been experienced by now.

We cannot persist with a mistake since we have been repeating it for a long time. Throw him away. If he wants to come back in the team, let him come back as specialist opener. Let him prove he is good at it. Otherwise, sit home and raise your kids.

whats wrong with akmal? doesnt he have a good sifarish?

well thnx for recomendation, but i would rather watch the matches then read some idiotic emotional comments… After saying that i want u to name a player who has helped Pakistan win matches in recent … I think we can evaluate his performance afterwards… A guy does best he can, no one is saying he is best. If you want to go over recent matches then you should first go on Pakistani batting that has been flooped in every match that guy atleast holding some peice of pakistani batting… All i m saying stop being that emotional and stop showing the world that we are calling the whole pakistan to australia and we still cant beat there asses… keep some self respect untill we can attack again… what if sarfraz fail??? no experience in australiaa??? i dont where r u guys trying to go from here

There is a limit of time you can live on Past achievements and he has already spend and well overshoot that time. If we keep your videos as scale, Tendulkar should be selected for next 10 years even if he score 0 in every single inning …

Kaleem putter, last I checked Kamran Akmal was a wicket keeper who has a batting average of 33 in Test matches and 26 in ODIs. Not too impressive even if you consider him purely as a batsman.

If you are trying to prove that Akmal should stay in the side as a wicket keeper just because he has scored some match saving innings which should compensate for his $hitty job behind the stumps then I have no energy to argue with you. Looks like you only watch Kamran Akmal while Pakistan is batting and turn off your TV when Akmal goes behind the stumps (actually not a bad idea).

Let me paste something for you here from a Cricinfo article dated Jan 24th 2009.

As I said that article is from Jan 2009. I don’t think Akmal has broken major world records in batting between Jan 2009 and Jan 2010. His keeping has not improved a bit and and his average (or at times above average) batting can no more justify his spot as a wicket keeper in the side. He definitely can compete with other batsmen in the side to stay as a batsmen but apparently he doesn’t want that.

re: What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!

Unfortunetly...for some reason Akmal has always had a HUGE backing of whoever is the captain. From Inzi, to Malik, to Younus and now Yousuf. They all love him for some odd reason which I dont even wanna know.

Sarfraz Ahmed is MILES ahead of Akmal in keeping abilities and im sure IF he's given a 'PROPER' chance...he could very possibly turn out better than Akmal with the bat. Akmal averages about 32 in domestic cricket where as Sarfraz averages nearly 50 with the bat...even though our domestic structure is FAR from perfect...it still goes to show that Sarfraz is no mug with the bat and has the talent if given a long enough run with full confidence in his abilities.

Akmal has played enough domestic cricket with Sarfraz to know that if Sarfraz does get a chance to play he will prove to the world that he's a much better keeper...thus, the insecurity...and PCB also made a huge blunder by appointing Kamran as VC for the test series...so he has a huge say in selection of the playing 11.

If he had ANY shame whatsoever...he would have come out and stated that he is going to rest from the 3rd test, which is a dead rubber anyway...and will work hard in the nets and make a strong comeback for the ODI and T20 series...afterall he single handedly snatched Pakistan's chance of beating the Aussies in Australia after 15 years.

re: What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!

if we can play world renowned batsmen like Farhat and Butt, both of whom dont even know how to hold a bat and drop catches which even a blind would take than why all this venom against Akmal. He is far better than these two. yet I have seen people defending those two and spewing venom against Akmal.

re: What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!

Everything related to Pakistan/PCB/cricket/sports/news/players... what ever the hell you took up, is all just a Drama.

And its so deep deep rooted, thanks to corruption of both minds and hearts... we'll have more insignificant moments waiting just round the corner of a looong twisted slope.

re: What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!

Now a million dollar question

Intikhab says Sarfraz will play … end of drama

Intikhab says Sarfraz will play | Cricket News | Australia v Pakistan 2009/10 | Cricinfo.com

After days of confusion, Intikhab Alam has put an emphatic end to speculation surrounding Pakistan’s wicketkeeping spot, saying that there is “no doubt” Sarfraz Ahmed will play as the wicketkeeper in Kamran Akmal’s place in the third Test in Hobart starting on Thursday.

Speculation has been rife and silly since the Sydney Test about Akmal and his role in the Pakistan side. Reports emerged blaming his late-night babysitting for the four dropped catches at the SCG and there has been talk of his younger brother Umar pulling out of the third Test with an allegedly feigned back injury in protest at the axing.

The team was given a day off from practice today, but Umar and Sarfraz trained at the Bellerive Oval under the eyes of Intikhab and Aaqib Javed, the assistant coach. There will be a selection meeting the day before the Test begins but Intikhab indicated that if it comes to a vote with the four-man selection committee (Mohammad Yousuf, Akmal, Intikhab and manager Abdur Raquib form the panel), Akmal will step aside.

“Naturally he [Sarfraz] has been sent as a reinforcement,” Intikhab said. "Unfortunately Kamran had a bad game and he is a very good wicketkeeper-batsman. It can happen to anyone but the fact of the matter is Sarfraz has been sent here and we will give him a chance.

"It has happened in the past [a vice-captain having a vote on his own position in the side]. We were in Sri Lanka, the vice-captain was Misbah-ul-Haq and he wasn’t having a good time and we decided in the meeting, at times you have to take that tough decision and we’ll take that decision. And there is no doubt that Sarfraz will play.

“We have a three-member committee but this time the manager will also sit in. We’re sure the right decision will be taken and he will have a vote as well. I have already spoken to Kamran and I think he understands. These things happen in cricket. I’m sure he’s good enough and he’ll come back.”

Younger brother Umar had a longish net session, having sat out practice yesterday and woken up this morning to stories about the stiff back being merely a ploy to protest at the treatment of Kamran. Intikhab said the back was fine and talk of protest absolute rubbish.

Watson lends support to Akmal
Kamran Akmal has found unlikely backing in the opposition camp as he battles to keep his place in the Pakistan side ahead of the third Test in Hobart. Shane Watson, with whom Akmal played for the Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural IPL in 2008, has come out in support of the wicketkeeper.
“It’s very unfortunate, the media scrutiny on Kamran Akmal,” Watson said. "Considering I played with him in the IPL and he is a very lovely guy and a very talented player too. It’s unfortunate, but hopefully he will get another opportunity to show everyone how good he is.
“I hope he does play, because he is an extremely talented player and it would be nice to see him out there. I am sure he will put on a very good performance.”
“He is ok. He had a sore back. The last few days the guys have been working very, very hard, and so I gave them a day off today,” Intikhab said. "Umar didn’t practice yesterday, he was sent to hospital and had x-rays done and the doctors said there is nothing wrong with him. He has had one painkilling injection but that’s why I brought him here to make sure he is fit and raring to go.

“It’s [the stories of his protest] all rubbish. At times I laugh when I read such stories. He’s one of the emerging cricketers in world cricket and he is capable and has the ability to do that. He is ok.”

Training cheerily alongside Umar was Sarfraz, who having played eight ODIs in 2008, finally finds himself on the verge of a Test debut, the first man other than Akmal to don Pakistan’s Test gloves since late 2004.

“Of course the pressure is there for representing your country against Australia,” Sarfraz said. “But all the coaches, the manager and players have really supported me and told me to take no pressure and treat it like you are playing a normal first-class match.”

Sarfraz was part of the same Pakistan A tour to Australia as Umar in June-July last year and had a similarly successful time, picking up 11 victims and three fifties in the two ‘Tests’. And some advice had already come his way on conditions here, he said, from the man he is set to replace. “Kami supported me and said play your natural game. I arrived two days ago and he said no pressure. He told me about the pitch here, a little bounce and some break. He is a very good player no doubt and everyone goes through a bad patch. I will give my 100% for our team.”

Re: Intikhab says Sarfraz will play ... end of drama

Good decision. Akmal should have stepped aside himself. Lets hope sarfraz performs well.

Re: Intikhab says Sarfraz will play … end of drama

Yeah lets hope so. I mean, its tough being a Pakistani cricketer but he has 1 test to prove himself and take away Kamran’s spot for the upcoming ODI series. Sarfaraz is not a bad batsman himself. In first class cricket, he averages 44.78 and has 2 centuries and 22 half centuries.

Theres no way these losers will give Sarfraz an extended run...even if the poor kid gets a test 100 they will drop him for the ODI series saying we need Akmal because he`s a better ODI batsman....Akmal has a lot of political power in the team unfortunately.

Sarfraz's best bet is do be tidy behind the stumps and pray for the best...because the Akmal politics will ensure he doesent get an extended run.

Re: Intikhab says Sarfraz will play ... end of drama

with all this I feel sorry with Sarfaraz too. Not and ideal conditions for a test debut. He will be under LOT of pressure and Aussies will come hard on him too... I hope he gets atleast 8/10 tests before getting any sort of verdict

Re: Intikhab says Sarfraz will play ... end of drama

Akmal has 'friends' even outside the team who come to rescue him.
Akmal can play ODI as opener, IMO.
