Has Kamran Akmal gone nuts or what? First he cost us the Sydney Test and now he is making Pakistan cricket look like a joke in front of the whole world.
On Jan. 6th the day Pakistan lost the Sydney Test, PCB decided to send Sarfraz Ahmed to Australia so that he can replace Akmal as the wicket keeper for the Hobart Test. It is irrelevant whether it was a right decision or wrong decision.
It was expected from Akmal to either stay quiet or just give a apology statement to the nation. Instead the fool have given 3 back to back statements on Jan 9th, Jan 10, and Jan 11 basicially showing a middle finger to PCB and saying that he would be playing in the Hobart test as the wicket keeper and wouldn’t even accept being part of the team as a specialist batsman.
The guy is making a mockery of Pakistan cricket and there is no one who is able to stop this guy from giving these stupid statements which are making it obvious to the whole world that he is openly clashing with his board and their decision. What happened to the policy of not giving statements to the media without PCB approval? Can’t they all decide all this behind closed doors instead of making all this into a ZEE TV drama?
This is the kind of stuff which is boiling my blood. These stupid morons instead of behaving like the ambassadors of Pakistan are acting like jungli janwars…
re: What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!
I was thinking the same - and I go back to my contention that until we nip this whole attitude problem in the bud, we can't go anywhere with our cricket aspirations.
I've always supported Akmal - even in his rough patches, but this conduct has made me rethink my position. I still think it's not a wise decision to introduce Sarfraz right away in a test match without proper induction, and think that one bad day for Akmal was more of an anomaly, but regardless, as a professional, Akmal should refrain from issuing such haughty statements.
re: What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!
and on top of all this, they are saying Umer is faking injury to pressurize team management. I hope this is not the case. I have been voicing my concerns over Kamran from the end of NZ series. The way he has been throwing his wicket it seems like he is SO CONFIDENT that NO ONE CAN DROP him and like no matter what he do, he will remain the integral part of the team. He does not have to look far to learn the lessons.
He should have quietly took a break from cricket after all this criticizm but naaaHHHHH, as fkhan said, everyday i see his middle finger to PCB ..right at top of cricinto/cricketnext...
I would say PCB should instruct the management to drop this idiot on disciplinary grounds for the Hobart test and decide his future as keeper later when he is back in Pakistan.
re: What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!
There's a lot of confusion over the whole thing. Seems like PCB management sent Sarfraz without consulting the selectors or Yousuf. And I guess Akmal has the backing of team and the selectors. They might have told him that he'd play. PCB management is at fault here.
re: What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!
PCB is using Kamran Akmal as a escape goat. By sending Sarfraz they think they are solving the issues that caused the humiliation in SCG Test. WRONG. Their whole structure and mentality is WRONG. They should all step down and let professional run the show.
re: What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!
at the end of the day, one of PCB or Akmal has to come out and save face and the way things are going, it looks like its going to be PCB as tour management + captain and vice captain (akmal himself) are the final authority in team selection. unless Sarfaraz has come with a tough message from PCB, I think Akmal is going to play ....

Lack of communication has always been a problem with PCB.
It is indeed PCB's fault that players have become so baysharam and baigharat that they have got no respect for authority anymore. So much so that Akmal has the courage to do *dadageeri *and blackmail after his poor performance in Sydney. Look at all the Australian papers and they are just making fun of Pakistan after the hatrick of Akmal's media stunts.
re: What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!
His statement clearly shows what lo life he is. He is literally black mailing and threatening PCB. I guess he has too much support of Yousuf, which is wrong. Akmal needs some rest, and I agree with Rashid that Akmal has gained some weight for a guy of his size. He is short, so any weight gain on short body tends to have more effect. I guess his mental abilities are effected as well.
How baysharam he is in saying that it was only a 'single' day of failure. That jerk is throwing his wicket for some time now, and he is dropping catches. Everyone knows that, the whole nation was in shock and I dont think this time, we will be out of it easily.
re: What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!
I hope someone calls this correctly. It is really a shame and I think for all the statements he has been giving the newspapers, he should be reprimanded by the PCB and also fined for it. If he gets away without any punishment, then it will only encourage others that the team ViceCaptain has been giving these statements and as mentioned by FKhan2 giving middle finger to the PCB.
Even though its not the ideal situation, but now the series is lost and most likely will be whitewash. I dont see how you can lift the morale of the team after that loss and with the inconsistent batting from 4 out of the top 7, we cant really win this test on our batting. So on the contrary, I think its a good time to expose Sarfaraz Ahmed, he has been waiting in the wings for a long long time.
re: What the hell's going on? Intikhab says Sarfraz will play...but Kamran won't budge!
I disagree with PCB and pretty much every one here.. Kamran Akmal did everything he could, he is not the greatest wicktkeeper in the world and every one knew that that is not why he is in the team. Just beacause our management lost there mind and they have no clue wats going on in the ground doesnt mean we go nuts on Kamran. First match we lost, they(management) lost there mind and gave out statements saying we r calling Yunis back(Like Paki team is not good enough without him) that didnt happen. Then they decided to call Muhammad Sami out of the blue and drop him in australia but instead they went with Abdul Rauf dropping Umar gul(made no sense what so ever). and now blaming everything on Kamran who is the most expereinced test player of pakistan in recent years. I know we did lost that match because he dropped hussey few times but that was not the only reason we lost. If only we had one batsman playing responsibly we had this match in our pocket.. Kamran was looking really good in opening position in onedayers i have no idea why they had to take him down from there. But bringing a new player from pakistan and playing instead of kamran if that gaurantees win then play him but if we still going to loose and loose bad i think it will be more emberassing then dropping catches.
If this is all he could do, he better take retirement ....

He himself claims that he is a ‘wicketkeeper-batsman’ and if you look at his performance he sucked in both miserably, so he should get punishment. And this was not the only test where his batting was dismal, he has been throwing away his wicket despite getting starts. Then he goes on to give statements in media how he is going to play instead of saying ‘thats my captain and management`s decision whether I get to play or not’.
Replace Kamran with a rookie in a test match in Australia against Australia.
Need I say more. These idiots don't even know how to introduce a new face. Only if replacing cricketers match after match solved the REAL problems.
We are to be blamed for this too..we want Kamran out and then we will sit infront of the tv again in the name of 'real fans'...ofcourse, that's what we did after losing to Ireland!!
Shidayyee bhai, I would strongly recommend you to please read this thread and enlighten yourself about the glorious past of Kamran Akmal and how he has managed to be the most experienced player when it comes to helping Paklistan losing a game in recent years.
I can bet that even a balti (bucket) will hold more catches than Kamran AKmal behind the stumps. PCB should get few baltis for cheap bucks from Sunday baazar instead of wasting their Grade A Player funds on him.
Kamran has to sit this match out for sure... but if Sarfraz makes a mistake, are we going to ask for his head too?
and yes, he definitely has to shut up... but what does he have to apologize for? i don't understand the apology part. he played badly in a game... it's not like he gave up state secrets. ex-players have fixed matches in the past. then, they grew beards, went to Umrah and became momins. others have batted so irresponsibly that they've cost us dozens of matches singlehandedly and yet continue to play in this team... none of these guys apologized. so, don't see why Kamran should apologize.
having said that, he should definitely stop talking. if he plays, the pressure will break him and might cause irreversible damage to his long-term career.
Oh this does not surprise me at all. There is just too much politics and corruption in every sphere of Pakistani life and cricketers are no different. Some of them will do well in politics. Besharmi, Dheetpan and hutdharmi are essential attributes of 'successful' Pakistani politicians
