You are not moral police. You cannot tell me what is right when your schools of thought believe that right or wrong cannot be distinguished and is subject to place and environment. With the western definition, a lot of things are human rights violations in Africa. But they dont invade them because they wont be getting resources form there after invasion.
Why give aid to a country whose people hate you? They can revoke aid but they wont. They know they have better plans.
The international moral policing has caused destruction of Iraq, Afganistan and has done nothing for kashmir and Palestine. Infact they are siding with oppressors. So things proposed looks good on paper but in reality the greed works.
In 1971 when there was fear of getting run over the 7th fleet was launched and the Indian army was stopped in its tracks, Afghanistan was helped tremendously thru Russian invasion. There would have been a complete annihilation in Bosnia. Clinton did his darndest at Camp David and many blame Arafat for not accepting the peace deal. The policies are changing and they might stop policing the world and allow many countries to savagely kill each other. That has been a great fear for me. Also with changing winds the aid might stop also. I remember when I was in Pak there used to be the wheat in aid from US as there was drought and millions would have died without the food aid. Look at all the famine struck areas in the world, who sends the aid? Also I see many Indian immigrants here and almost none from Pakistan, I think most work visas are issued to Indians. Unfortunately the entire population suffers because of the hate created by people who encourage terrorism.
PS let us stop the narrative about invading for resources, Arabs are paid more than handsomely and a lot more than what the oil is worth. Canada exports oil and USA has lots of reserves. When Iran was told to keep their oil the Iranians begged for the opportunity to sell the oil. Anyways Oil will become obsolete in a few decades then we will see how the king so arrogantly climbs up on the golden escalator as many muslims starve.
We dont kill people for not believing in what we believe in so if your distinction bw good and bad is slaughter, rape and enslavement as Imam Mecca decreed against Shias then pls spare us your distinction bw good and bad.
Because Russia was on the back of India and US could get someone ‘friendly’ against Russia. Because Russia had deep connection with Serbs. The nations curtailing this freedom, for reasons other than fear of immediate harm, can’t criticize others who do the same. They’ve lost the moral high ground.
I have no problem with a Muslim majority nation celebrating Eid as a Holiday not Christmas. For someone who has lived in Pakistan for so long the Holiday holds a secular connotation. Same goes for Christmas in historically Christian majority states. The problem arises when you punish people for eating in public in Ramazan because now you’re forcing a hardship on them for the sake of your religion. A holiday is hardly a hardship.
Majority abuses minority in Pakistan all the time. Shias and Ahmedis are killed on a regular basis. Curtailing freedom of speech does not reduce violence, education does, real education.
Limiting people’s freedom to express their views is part of the abuse. State kidnapping\arresting people for unpopular views is abuse. Freedom of speech will limit state sponsored abuse.
I might obey someone powerful fearing their wrath but I won’t change my views. You gotta inspire people with good example if you wanna to bring about real change.
They are very well aware of techniques of persuasion, the population eats it up like candy. Most here don’t have a problem with locking terrorism suspects without being tried or convicted.
Just because the majority agrees with something does not make it right. It’s a slippery slope, a country locking up it’s own citizens, for anything, without a fair trial. Today it’s alleged terrorists (innocent until proven guilty), tomorrow they’ll lock up peaceful political dissidents.
That is why racism is still there even after hundreds of year of chest thumping of being the best civilization. your generation say, Mexicans come to steal our money.
Of course someone else is to blame for Sunnis and Shias slaughtering each other. Americans are to blame for saudi clerics asking for slaughter of Shias, enslavement of their children and rape of their women. I’ll go ahead and concede that one. We had no business in Iraq. Saddam was a tyrant but he was keeping the real extremists at bay. Getting rid of him created a power vacuum in the Middle East.
Didnt they elect a black man whose middle name was Hussein as their President and commander in chief? They maybe not perfect but have the best track record on human rights. We just paid the terrorist Khader 10 million dollars for infringing on his human rights. Terror promoters in UK are receiving social assistance from the govt. A country has the sovereign right to allow and disallow anyone from entering their borders. If there is high unemployment why should they allow foreigners in?
