Guys thankyou so much for the responses and for your opinions on the topic of four wives. It has been a most interesting read..
And from all the comments made.. an interesting thought (well for me anyway)… which i felt is best said under a new topic…
taking on board all comments made about the pros and cons, for and against, polygamous mariages..or rather taking on 4 wives… what are your opinions on men who marry the second time or third.. and their new spouse is clearly half their age if not more. I know of a man, an ex relative in fact who divorced his wife (mutual decision) and then married a girl of 15 from pakistan. He is 42. His eldest daughter is 13.
In fact, my other half’s step brother who is 49, (divorced with kids, eldest daughter being 25) has just re-married a woman who is 28.
Re: what if the new wife is the same age as their eldest child - 4 wives?? continued.
Well I don't think love knows any age, ethnicity, etc. If he fancies younger women completely then that's a different story but if he met someone who was compatible with him, made him happy, etc etc then why does the age matter? At 28, people are very mature and pretty much know what they are doing. And even alot of women in mid twenties or nearing thirties prefer older men who are well settled in life.
I am not offended in anyway. Just trying to understand your POV since you started this thread
If he abducted that girl or made her elope then he is a pedophile. He married her.:smack:
Even in some states of USA for example 15 years is marriageable age.
Here is the reference. Marriageable age - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It makes me feel sick too, i cannot imagine that the 15 year old he was marrying was happy about it. I also would not imagine that a person like this would wait until the girl is ready to consummate the marriage, but thats a whole different story altogether.
Re: what if the new wife is the same age as their eldest child - 4 wives?? continued.
I dont like the idea of it AT ALL. I know some people will come back with examples of the past.
Islam is a complete religion because it offers solutions to almost every scenario. The Prophet (saw) lived a life full of examples to be looked at when confronted with a certain case. Every action he took was to be a reference point for us when in that situation. He is as close to perfect as a human being can get. He had reasons for marrying Aisha (r) at the age he did and WE dont have those reasons! Therefore, PLEASE dont give that example!
You know what I find so frustrating about this topic? Lack of common sense. Something being allowed is not the green light to do it all the time. Men will take the 4 wives rule and use it for their benefit but what about the circumstances under which 4 wives were allowed??? Do you see those present??? NO.
WHY did the Prophet (saw) marry Aisha (R) at the age he did? The why's are just as imortant and to be taken into consideration just as much.

Well Saraali one of my relative, after death of his wife who was mother of his 6 kids, got married to 13 years girl. his own son was 13 aswell and once we went to their house they were playing together.the girl wasnt mature enough to be married...............was running around with kids and playing with toys.
a year later she had a son......................she was too young to have kids.
we shouldnt blame her husband, what about her parents...didnt they thought of her future?
that is sad I know someone who is over 60, with is married to his 7th wife who is 19 and pregnant, that is NASTY, and he married her in pakistan and basically he has money she doesnt, and he says that before he dies he shall marry another women! he is disgusting, and he has daughters who are aged 26 35 and sons over 30.

If it's not a forced marriage then I have nothing against it. If the couple is ok with it then the rest is their business and nobody else's.
Re: what if the new wife is the same age as their eldest child - 4 wives?? continued.
well i know some on who got married agian after getting his own daughter married, he went to pakistan, and got married (when he was still with the first wife) but never told her, and both the daughter and the new wife where pregnant at the same time,
persoanally i think paki guys(well all guys) get to a certain age and feel the need to get married agian,(obiously first wife is getting old and can not be bothered to please him) so he goes and finds some one else to sleep with,

Re: what if the new wife is the same age as their eldest child - 4 wives?? continued.
This is a real story guys. I know about this one guy who was like 75 and windowed. His kids were kind of rich and they wanted to make him happy and bought him a wife from the nwfp for 5 lakhs, and she was only 16. On the day of the nikkah, the bawajee died, right after the ceremony. I swear Im not making this up!!!
Even in some states of USA for example 15 years is marriageable age.
This means that in many or most states in USA, such a marriage is NOT legal and would actually result in a criminal charge of statutory rape. If convicted, the child molester would live the rest of his life on a national and publicly available watch list of sexual offenders.
A 15 year old is a CHILD. And a grown man who marries a child is nothing more than a pervert.
