:smack: Oh I think you walked into this one M. However, Congrats for Hajj must have been a great experience.

Re: What I took with me on Hajj >.<

Y’know, I’m still confused as to what the heck just happened. Obviously the least of my concern while on hajj would be makeup but that isn’t the case with everyone. I saw women with full faces of makeup. Who cares whether women choose to wear makeup or not?!

And someone said the title of this thread was misleading. How the heck was it misleading?! The title of the thread isn’t going to explain the entire situation so you OPEN THE THREAD AND READ IT. I had words accompanying the attached pictures. :smack:

Just plain ol’ silly.

Hajj Muabarak

There is nothing wrong with taking makeup and an assortment of toiletries. The truth is most of doesn't get
Used. Went on Umrah recently and just used pajamas, white jilbab. I did use Makeup afterwards when we went to dubai. tHonestly I don't remember any faces. Our existence revolved on the 5 prayers...funeral prayers and tawaf when were in Makkah and eating. Didn't do anything else. absolutely didn't care how I looked....it was very liberating....if I am not mistaken Hajjis really don't celebrate Eid as non Hajjis Bc they are still completing the rites.

Anyone lots of people from
Abroad do go to visit family in ksa, India and Pakistani.

Re: What I took with me on Hajj >.<

^ Yeah I didn't take anything, nothing cosmetic really gets used cause you are in a state of wudhu 24/7, I was barefaced my whole time there...I was without my mother so I was really self concious about what I did so the other ladies wouldn't make comments if I was in the wrong. When I was at Hajj I remember our Eid was very modest, nothing Eid-like at all, I wore a white cotton outfit, I don't even think our group even consumed any qurbaani meat that day, we just ate grilled chicken with rice that day, and a salad with a pepsi. We stoned the devil, we did a tawaaf that night. Hajj was just so gorgeous. Now I can't believe I was even there. I always get drawn right back when especially when all the ladies from my bring up memories of me always stopping in front of zamzam fountains for a drink, and slipping out into the night to do tawaf (our hotel was directly by the haram), searching for italian food. lots of good times miss the friends I made there too, miss how us girls would treat each other out during the night. I really wish to go back one day.

Re: What I took with me on Hajj >.<

Thanks, everyone!

@Twinklestar:
Exactly. It was magical and perfect. I remember being near-tears when some of the harder stuff was happening because it got too much on me physically but having gone through it all, I look back and can only remember the good stuff. And ditto w/ @Polished Gems. My eid was spent the same way. I wasn't aware that eid isn't a celebration when you're on hajj because you have other important responsibilities to complete.

Mashallah! Mubarak that Allah accepted you for the hajj! May Allah accept ur hajj and bring about 100% change into your life and all the hujaaj who performed the hajj and the whole Ummah of rasulallah (saw). Ameen.

Just a quick question, if your eyeliner stayed put for four while days, than do you think the water reached there when making wudhu? Dunno, just asking....

Re: What I took with me on Hajj >.<

at the end of the day I think mwh is the only one that can say whether or not harm was done.......
you probably wanted to say "No harm intended".

Re: What I took with me on Hajj >.<

I wonder if that is anyone's business but the OP and Allah.....

Re: What I took with me on Hajj >.<

The eyeliner was waterproof

Re: What I took with me on Hajj >.<

Used a freebie GWP YSL bag which was big enough to carry 2 weeks worth of makeup:

The contents of the makeup bag:

Hajj Mubarak…so your bag was from YSL…hmm.

Re: What I took with me on Hajj >.<

Yeah I know! I remember waking up Eid morning suprised that we were not doing anything special, we had market-like stalls by our tents in Minaa and ladies sent us girls out to search for mehndi, because they wanted it to be a little festive and since I told them I know how to so they wanted me to apply it. But much to their disappointment we didn't even find anybody selling mehndi. before we left Saudi Arabia for Dubai, in my room we had a very nice departing hajj finale dinner (take-away from a restuarant) & the men delivered it to our room, and then I finally applied the mehndi that night. The ladies got their hands decorated front and back. much to my suprise. When I came back I wore my "Eid outfit" to the dinner my mom hosted, it was what I would have worn had I not gone to hajj.

Re: What I took with me on Hajj >.<

M, are you going to blog about your trip? Would love to read more about it!

Re: What I took with me on Hajj >.<

Hajj Mubarak! Ignore the haters, don't waste your time explaining to anyone. Who are we to judge anyways? :)

I wonder if that is anyone's business but the OP and Allah.....

I agree.. But in case some of us are unaware, water has to fully reach every corner of our face (and other body parts) in order for it to be complete. Since we know that if our wudhu is incomplete, than our Salah will be incomplete. So.. Was just wondering...

I'm not a hater sister, I'm a well wisher :)

Thank you for bringing up that point. In Islam intention is above all and Allah is forgiving.....however from my personal experience it is very important to educate yourself as much as possible. We went to Medina first and I bought as many books as possible and I borrowed some before we left. Honestly I was confused on a lot of aspects of performing umrah. And remember umrah is only a small part of hajj. I grilled as many people who went as possible. In retrospect I know that we made mistakes unintentionally during the journey. Alhumdollilah there are ton of resources everywhere..... Up to until the last minute I was not sure we would be able to go....from getting leave, to securing tickets, etc as this was a planned pretty urgently. But alhumdollilah Allah (Swt) made it possible to go for us. Again I would stress to everyone and anyone please read and educate yourself as much as possible. Any planning and effort I put into planning this ultimate journey to the holy land was well worth it. there are seminars, classes, blogs, etc available on online and in books. I would strongly suggest do not go unprepared for this journey whether it is umrah and hajj. Trip itself is very costly and of course none of us can be certain if we can ever go back.

So in short if anyone can learn from this post or any of the mistakes anyone who has gone to the holy lands has inadvertly made then I beleive there is great reward in that.

Re: What I took with me on Hajj >.<

congrats on performing hajj!

would you mind posting another post here or wherever its appropriate or even in this one a list of items to take for hajj/umrah (not just makeup, etc), but stuff you mentioned...pjs, socks, flip flops, towel, snacks, medicines, shampoo, etc, etc? i'm looking for a comprehensive list and it would be awesome if someone who went recently can help. thanks! :)

What I took with me on Hajj >.<

Nabz is this list for hajj or umrah? One suggestion is pack lite. Take comfortable clothing. I would strongly advise to take cash....credit card is accepted but not as widely as I thought it would be. Please buy phones that work in ksa and then get SIM cards locally that work there. Try to buy on ebay or borrow from somebody. You can take your smartphones but find if there is free wifi available. Most places charge a premium.

Re: What I took with me on Hajj >.<
