I went for Hajj with my parents and my brother and just got back a few days ago. It was absolutely amazing, life-changing and the most meaningful thing I’ve ever done. I’ll be doing a proper blog post on this so check that out soon. BUT to keep things in perspective with fashion & beauty, I wanted to show you guys what I took along with me makeup-wise. Keep in mind this was NOT to use while on hajj but rather for before and after since we had family visiting from Pakistan we were gonna meet up with and I assumed eid would be like any other eid and that’s what I took most my makeup for. I pretty much used…none. Save for liner, WP mascara, SPF and balm. Balm and SPF being the only 2 things I actually used while a pilgrim.
Used a freebie GWP YSL bag which was big enough to carry 2 weeks worth of makeup:
The contents of the makeup bag:
Since all products have to be unscented, those sachets of SPF (the only unscented SPF I had) got used for sure. I also used that lip balm with a green cap and we had to get unscented hand wash to use there. No deodorant (although I did take it for when I opened my ahram and used it…once in 10 days >.<). Also, the Armani Waterproof eye liner I took is AMAZING. I wasn’t able to cleanse my face for 4 days for obvious reasons and even while making wudhu 5x daily for 4 days straight, it did not budge. AMAZING.
Sorry to make hajj seem trivial by associating it with makeup/beauty stuff but I have been MIA for a while and needed to make a comeback in makeup-savvy ways. >.<
Thank you for looking and hope you guys are well, especially those living in areas affected by Sandy.
LOL! What? I explained why I took the makeup with me (thinking I’d celebrate eid there and also afterwards meet up with visiting family) so I thought I’d post what I packed along. Geddit?
when i went for ummrah in july 2012 i thought what should i take etc but seriously u dont need anything to take with u regarding make up stuff becoz the noor and inner purity after performing hajj or ummrah is much much better than these thngs dont take me wrong its just my experince:)
Oh come on people, what's with the judging? Hajj mubarak M_was_here.
Yes it's a great idea to let people know of what options they have. For my husband, I got him unscented bar soap, unscented deodorant for post-hajj days, unscented face wash and face lotion with SPF, lip balm. There are some websites that sell hajj toiletries travel kits as well but I didn't order as their delivery time was a bit long.
I don't know about makeup but you definitely need a good scrub, soap, deodorant and maybe lip balm. Sun screen and something for chafing for men in ehram. They tell you to take vaseline.
Hajj Mubarak!
I didn't even know people thought about wearing make-up to Hajj. I must ask my sister, she went recently, I bet the first thing I'll think of now when I inshallah go in the next few years is what concealer to wear now :(

I think the above line should've been in the very beginning AND end of the post in bold RED b/c quite a people seemed to have missed it. Not sure why anyone has an issue with someone wearing make-up during family visits while on vacations BEFORE and AFTER Hajj.
