Maybe I’m old fashioned but I’ve always equated the guy who opens doors for you or offers to hold your bags , pays for dinner or fix a flat tire to being the true gentleman…
Are there still guys like that around ?

Lekin agar ghaur se dhoondho gi tau shayad aise mard mil jaein ![]()
Re: What happened to Chivalry ?
chivalry…yes its certainly a dying quality ![]()
The door part ummm no, but holding the bags, paying for dinner, fixing everything…being a true gentleman, I can assure you I know of at least one ![]()
SO who cares about the door when you have all that ![]()
Re: What happened to Chivalry ?
takes her jacket off and puts on on the puddle so sheyn’s shoe doesn’t get wet![]()
chivalry is there, in a limited amount, just gotta look harder for it.
Re: What happened to Chivalry ?
blackforest, but you are a girl and that doesn’t count ![]()
Re: What happened to Chivalry ?
the last i heard it was dead ![]()
btw paa fouji got it right
p.s. on a serious note… doing everything else you mention besides holding the door would get one in trouble if you don’t know the lady ![]()
p.s.2. you are certainly right bout being old fashioned ![]()
Re: What happened to Chivalry ?
Sheyn, unfortunately i gotta agree with Fauji as well :hinna:
you know how we women always scream for equality , thats whats brought death to chivalry
Once at work , we had a discussion about how the men feel about holding doors and etc for ladies .. majority said , that women want equality , they can open their own doors and hold their own bags and do everything on their own .. we are equals , they cant just act all womanly on convenience ![]()
We are just old fashioned , i still appreciate men who have this sense of chivalry ![]()
Re: What happened to Chivalry ?
cooks food, wash dishes etc
Re: What happened to Chivalry ?
i'd much rather have a husband who treats me like a queen on a day to day basis than some stranger open a door for me.
Though when i do go out, everyone offers to hold my bags...:@:
Re: What happened to Chivalry ?
Who is to say whether you’d see our actions as considerate or misogynistic? If we pick up the tab, you’d exclaim that you’re empowered enough to take care of yourself… if we open doors or carry your bags, you’d blame us for believing that you’re the weaker sex. Womenkind is just too confused.
Blacky ![]()
I knew Chivalry was still alive …its just evolved !

CB…ur right even if its being old -fashioned … I would rather be treated like a lady than trying to be the man i’m not…
LC…I 've had doors opened , my bags carried for me and even guys stopping to help with a flat tire when that’s happened so I do not think its womankind being confused …on the contrary I believe men have started using that “Equality adage” for their convenience…
I think its easy to tell apart a woman who is screaming femanazi from a woman who values the old fashioned gallantry and chivalry of days gone by…Maybe some Men have just stopped trying ?***
Trust me Sheyn… I’ve had this conversation with many friends who’ve been in situations where they were simply trying to be considerate of the opposite sex… but instead, they got hollered at. May be it’s not a common place phenomenon in certain parts of the world. As far as I’m concerned, I try to adopt the middle road - when it comes to doors, I’d always try to hold it open - regardless of who it is I’m doing it for - it’s just good manners. As far as holding bags and providing other help is concerned, I’d gladly offer it after inquiring if a lady needs it. Again, I admit to being cautious about my courtesy - what I perceive to be politesse might be wrongly interpreted as disdainful.
She is not talking about husbands. Husbands have no choice , if they do not do it all they will be nagged to death.
It might be be because you are pretty and when you go out you do not have your wedding ring on.
You got it right. :k:
Re: What happened to Chivalry ?
They might be there, but rare to find.
Re: What happened to Chivalry ?
yeah i 've noticed..it's my observation and it may or may not be true always that desi guys don't show as much courtesy to holding the door for u as other ethinicities. i've seen this at work all the time. very rarely have i seen a desi guy let me exit first of the elevator or open the door whereas non desis always do it. it could be just the desi men at my work place lol.
Re: What happened to Chivalry ?
I think you should hold a door open for everyone, whether you're a guy or a gal, it's just about showing respect

I wouldn't say desi guys lack it on the contrary I've always had desi guys being extra courteous whenever I've come across them whether its holding the door for me or carrying my bags or whenever i'm at the end of a long queue like at the airport( Peshawar ) , they have always stepped back to allow me to get ahead so far so that if some guy pretended not to "see me" so he wouldn't lose his place in the queue , he has been told off quite properly to kindly make way for the lady............
The people I've found it largely lacking in are arabs ! Not all again as I have had guys stopping to help me when I had a flat tire etc. but I would say the majority !
Re: What happened to Chivalry ?
It died in a road accident. :D
On a serious note, I agree with Fauji and seetee.
