njgal, I have mine from 12 years ago. Still lookin' good. I wore it once for some family member's wedding. Now it's all wrapped up and stored in a box. I plan to keep it for future use; perhaps use the material for making an outfit for my daughter or something.
I was thinking of doing something to mine too but hten i realised how much i cherish my mom's wedding stuff. I got her wedding karas and will also be getting her gharara. I want my daughter(s) to have the same option so i have decided to keep mine the way it is.
I have already worn my walima outfit to my sister's wedding and my cousins. All my pcitures are in the same outfit. If I really think about it - I can maybe wear it again or give it to my daughters in the future.
But my wedding outfit is soooo RED. I can't see my daugthers liking it or re-using it.
after seeing how designer use the same piece for several outfits, i m going to make at least two outfits out of my wedding outfits. like PS side, make a shalwar kameez or something simpler.
I was wondering to do with mine too (actually thats what my first post on GS was about haha!), whether I should give it away or make a sari out of the dupatta somehow or do what. I decided to keep it for my daughters, because I too love the things my mom has passed down to me from when she got married, gorgeous!! I do however want to make a suit to go with the dupattas, havent gotten around to it yet....one day!
As salaamu aleykum wa rahmetuhAllaahi wa barakaatuh. I know a sister in NYC who is the imaams wife and she hasnt had her walimah yet. They aren't that financialy stable because the masjid doesnt pay him that much so Im sure she would love to accept a donation from you of your wedding/walimah outfits. Let me know if that is what you would like to do with them and I will inform her inshaa Allah.
i think if you know ur not gonna ever wear it or revamp it
its such a good thing to donate it
i still have my moms but unfortunetly my mom was much skinner at my age than i am
all this processed food!
but if i love mine then ill keep it n wear to my sisters wedding or revamp it....
What do u girls do with ur dresses after the wedding/engagement?
So I was just wondering what people usually do with their bridal dresses after the wedding/engagement? lock em up and put em away in a suitcase never to be seen again? Isn't that a huge waste of money? =/
Re: What do u girls do with ur dresses after the wedding/engagement?
^ LOL! i had my nikah during the day and had a red shalwar kameez, wore that on the following eid. the following summer it was my cousins wedding and after my nikah we had a ceremony in the evening where i wore a blue and pink lehnga, and sure enuf i wore it on her big day! spent monies on that dress, damn straight im gna wear it again in my life time before i have rolls and never fit into it again!
