what i was looking was, medium height, 5'4" to 5'8" or so, dinn hafta be an amazon. I am 6'3" and while ppl thought I would want someone exceptionally tall, I just did not feel attracted to the 5'11' chicas ppl kept introducing me to, dunno why.
built- errr in USA, built wise, curvy..never liked the really skinny ones.
profession- any really, someone who would not mind stopping her career if needed for family. dentists, doctors, MBAs, research scientists, teachers, lawyers. from a logical view I preferred a teacher or college prof because they have summers off and can spend that time with kids who are also off from schol, and whether its summer trips to Pakistan or going to visit relatives within US or in UK she just would have that time to be with the kids. Voila my wife is a teacher, but it would not have matered even if she was an astronaut :) was not interested in soemone who wanted to become a housewife, cuz that has its own issues.
Some questions: Would you care if your future wife has male friends and how would you feel about her keeping in touch with them after marriage..
I did not have an issue with her having male friends, and I actually got along very well with them. sadly nuff they got married and their wives could not handle the fact that they were pals with begum when they were single ..
Lets say your future wife wears sleeveless clothes or even capris before she gets married, would you feel comfortable with that or make her change her wardrobe..
she does not wear sleeveles, but does wear short sleeves, as far as capris go, I have been trying for her to wear em but she does not like em :) if she did wear sleeveless, depending on if it was tasteful I woukd be okay with it.
One girl I stopped pursuing was simply because she wore revealing clothes, plunging necklines, short short skirts etc, and while she was a nice person, she just would not fit in and just was not what I was looking for, It would have been unfair for me to ask her to change, she grew up a certain way. I told her the truth, why i did not want to pursue anything, she said she would try and it was jut not meant to be.
I think its stupid to try and change someone after marriage. I mean small things here and there yes, but if you dont want a person who gambls..why marry a gambler ya know?
Do you expect your wife to do all the household chores, cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping just like the traditional way?!
we split all duties. I would say its not an eve 50-50 and she def does more than what i do, ut I do my bit, bathrooms are my specialty, vaccum the house, mop the whole first floor, and washing the pots. she does all laundry, 90% of cooking, dishes, and manages all of the kids clothes, grocery shopping we split and/or do together. I also specialize in all icky stuff, well except chaning diapers which are probably 80-20 split.
as far as being honest, since she is on teh site off and on, she will call BS if I am making the stuff up
PS: begum...dunn make me look bad or I will lock you in the basement again.

I have to say I got to thank some of the women on this forum for reshaping my views on the modern Pakistani women. I was quite scared but it seems my fears were false and there is a different side.

No, but you give us a reason to fear you guys.
For example, I was talking to my fiance on the phone and she was telling me that I should get on task, and when I was giving a few excuses she really got on my case and started raising her voice. Sounded like my ami almost which was a bit eerie! I think I definitely said “yes ami” after her lecture was over but it was by accident.

Another question added to this post- how comfortable are guys with their wives working after marriage? if she has a job before marrying you, do you expect her to quit and take care of the kids, or will you be okay with helping her around the house and an ayah for the kids?

i really dont like it when one couple is scared of the other…I like to respect my fiance…havent ever shouted at him or ordered him to do anything…I cant raise my voice at him…i think there should be a loving relationship with no1 being scared of the other..

impulse if he was REALLY scared of his fiance he wouldnt be saying it in such a casual way nor would he be joking about it. If he was really scared he wouldnt be marrying her!

No, I am not actually really “scared” of her but she sure does sound like my ami sometimes. I tease her back the same way though when she is telling me about a situation. Rather it is more about being kept in shape and stable by your wife, and how similar it is to the ami role.
Specifically, I was getting a bit depressed and making some late payments on my bills and just falling behind in all my tasks. She got me out of the depression, and indeed did get me on task after a few more phone calls. I started calling her everytime I got depressed or really bothered by a situation. And she started doing the same as well although by far I was the one with more problems.
Sometimes people just have that calming and soothing effect on people.
Yes, indeed but fights are part of marriage, I have a rule though that we both agreed to already…No sleeping without solving our issues to the point we arent angry at each other anymore. Personally, I am just like the average guy when it comes to yelling as I do yell sometimes for stupid reasons but I am always the one to apologize for something like that. Yes, indeed a loving relationship should exist but believe it or not you actually get closer after having a few fights. Sounds odd right? But it is true or at least it is for me…

I would want to know her friends (male and female) first than make that decision.
