What did you last eat, post pictures...

Re: What did you last eat, post pictures…

I’d love to see how you do yours! Definitely post when you make them!

@Bobby1 I PM’d you but my computer was acting weird. Let me know if you didn’t get the recipe and I’ll resend!

Re: What did you last eat, post pictures…

I have an under the weather sprout today so he got to have his favourite breakfast in bed: eggs in a basket and tea!

Re: What did you last eat, post pictures…

So cute, what does he like to do?

Re: What did you last eat, post pictures…

Yes! Nearing the end of the season now (maybe another month or two left) so I thought I’d purchase a bunch and make strawberry shortcake for this evenings dessert!

I want breakfast in bed too :teary1:

Re: What did you last eat, post pictures…

When he’s sick? Complain!

Everyone deserves breakfast in bed at some point! When you come visit I will make you eggs in a basket as well!

Re: What did you last eat, post pictures…

Took twice as long because he wanted to “help.” Can’t beat a good Creme Anglaise!

He is a lucky little man, I tried teaching Harris to cook paratha and he wasn’t too impressed with me. BTW that looks yum. I haven’t really gotten into baking.

:hugz:

Looks delicious :yummy:

Re: What did you last eat, post pictures…

Oh it’s hardly even baking… just tiny two inch cream biscuits that take twenty minutes from set up to plate. I’m keen on teaching him because I think it’s important to raise a well rounded man who can take care of himself (and his wife when she needs a break.) Parathas are deceptively simple in theory but honestly take a lot of repetition to perfect. Perhaps trying something with a more immediate payoff? The very first thing my mother ever taught me to bake as a child were gougères (basically a cheese puff.) The base is a pâte à choux; the same base as éclairs, profiteroles, dumplings, Parisian gnocchi, beignets, churros, crullers, etc. So with a few tweaks, one simple recipe = tons of possibilities.

Last nights dinner (flounder with panko, almonds, etc)

We are grilling out today! Cajan themed today… gumbo and grilled okra!

Turkey andouille is truly one of life’s great pleasures.

I love okra but never tried it grilled. Did you apply some sauce or just grilled plain okra?

Re: What did you last eat, post pictures…

I just toss them with a small amount of oil, salt and pepper and that’s it! I find if they have any sauce prior to grilling they don’t blister nicely (the excess liquid just steams them which isn’t what you want.) Now after they are grilled that’s a different story! I almost always serve them with some kind of sauce.

Re: What did you last eat, post pictures…

Will definitely give this a try

Re: What did you last eat, post pictures…

My parents are staying with me this week so today I made my mother one of her favourite salads.

If you don’t mind my asking, where are you from? Your food is quite different from what I’m used to.

Re: What did you last eat, post pictures…

I was born in Jamaica. I grew up there and in the U.K.
