Re: What are you reading?

I really wanna get my hands on:

Costumes and Textiles of Royal India by Ritu Kumar

Made for Maharajas by Amin Jaffer

Oh was it Difficult Daughters? I loved it...just could not put it down. It was kind of based on Manju Kapur's own life.

Funny incident when I borrowed it from the library, my daughter kept behaving awkward (well more strange than usual!) And then I found it that she was disturbed by the title...she thought it was some self help book on how to deal with difficult daughters LOL. After I explained to her we had a great laugh about it....sorry for going off-topic.

Let me know if you enjoyed reading the Immigrant.

Re: What are you reading?

Just bought this book from Amazon:

“Rock and Roll Jihad: A Muslim Rock Star’s Revolution for Peace” by Salman Ahmed (of Junoon fame).

Should be an interesting read :hmmm:

LOL about your daughter thinking you’d got the book cos of her! i looked it up on amazon and realised the other kapur book ive read is actualy Home. have finished The Immigrant and it has a few surprises in it, i guess its not predictable or cliched, but it had a bit of a sad-ish ending, i dont like sad-ish endings! a good book though

ooh that does sound interesting! please let us know how you find it Maroush!

I can’t find a good boook!!!

I just finished Shiver, wanted to beat it and burn it thats how dissappointing it was.
Then picked up The Time Travelor’s Wife - unfortunately the format is very similar to Shiver and that totally turned me off. This books been lying on my bedside table for over two weeks and I’m like on page 45. :frowning:

ARGHHHHHH

The Return by Victoria Hislop. its not TOO engaging, doesnt make me wanna read it and not put it down, but it's ok lol. the story is interesting in bits only though.

Re: What are you reading?

,'Turning Thirty' by Mike Gayle

I want to read The Miniaturist too! it sounds similar to one of the short stories in the collection, where the narrator discovers he is the Persian architect of Taj Mahal in his previous birth. yeah, sounds crappy, but it was good.
the collection as a whole is great, you should give it a try. the words were written with a fluent beauty.

Me too! i couldnt find them anywhere.

if a good vampire book is what you want, then try **The Vampire Lestat **by Anne Rice. its the second in the Vampire Chronicles series, and you can read it independently too. its the first one in the series that i am reading, and its really good!
