I haven't read this one but few others like Undulus main Ajnabi, Pyar ka pahla Shehar and Kalaash and loved all of them.
Re: What are you reading?
^"khana Badosh' is slightly bleak compared to his early travelogues. I liked Undlas mein Ajnabi and Nikale Teri Talash Mein. His recent works haven't impressed me much.
Re: What are you reading?
Finished reading 'My Sister's Keeper' a while back. Great book! I haven't watched the movie yet, but from what I've read, the book seems to have a way better storyline.

Yes I did!! Wish they had set the movie in London like the series instead of NY though. Isla Fisher looked perfect as the chirpy Rebecca

falcon: you are right about his recent work, "Newyork kay 100 rang" is a bit disappointing...

One of the books I’m reading right now, is ‘Children of Faith’ by Soumyana, which is also available online here:
Soumyana’s Islamic CurriculumNovels & short stories - Novels
I’ve read two chapters online and liked the book enough to buy it in a few weeks insha Allah. The story is about a Muslim in a non-Muslim country, a child still, a teenager and what it’s like. There are other issues as well, the main character moved recently to a new country and in addition to being a Muslim in a non-Muslim country, he also has to get used to living in this strange country. Very interesting topics and I like the way the story is being told. These are the opening lines of the first chapter:
[FONT=Times New Roman]While you sleep with your eyes closed,
your ears deaf, your tongue mute, and your arms
and legs motionless, how do you travel, meet
people, and do many things in a few minutes or an
even shorter lapse of time?
I keep asking myself those questions over and over
again. I keep asking and, for me, that’s a miracle.
And, how come when you wake up in the morning,
you feel deeply influenced by that few magical
seconds? Freud attribute dreams to desires and past
experiences, but how can you explain dreams that
inform you of a future event involving people you
have never seen or people you have not seen in
years? Freud is a no-brainer. We study it in our
philosophy class. But what if Freud was wrong all
along? Actually I am sure Freud is mostly wrong.
Another Islamic fiction book is "Hijab-Ez Friends’ by Linda D. Delgado:
Islamic Rose Book : Book 2 : Friends (Linda D. Delgado)
I haven’t read this one yet, but I’m planning to buy it for my children. It’s also about a Muslim living in a non-Muslim country, the main character is ten years old though, but sometimes older children still enjoy reading books meant for younger children. My daughter for example still reads books for younger children if she likes them enough, but she also reads books for older children sometimes. It’s different for each child I guess.
Anyway, I think it’s good if our children read some Islamic fiction as well as non-Islamic fiction, because Islamic fiction can help them understand and deal with certain problems that sometimes nobody else can help them with. And in addition to that, the books are fun to read. ![]()
Re: What are you reading?
Ali and Nino by Kurban Said.Just started reading it, seems interesting so far.
Re: What are you reading?
Has anyone read Stones and Schools, the new book by Greg Morteson?
Re: What are you reading?
I just started "Chasing Harry Winston" by Lauren Weisberger, same author who wrote The Devil Wears Prada. It's entertaining thus far ...
Finished reading The First Assistant ... it made me laugh .... and The Brightest Star by Marian Keyes ... also very good (as expected by Marian Keyes, she never fails to disappoint me).
Am currently reading the third book from Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy. It's called "Luftslottet som sprängdes" (The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest) and has been an awesome read so far, just like the former two books I read.
Dracula by Bram Stoker.....I'm in countryside(means no street lights and only few houses around) atm and I read it at night, it's so thrilling.
