Re: What 3 things do you like best about your city? What are your top 3 dislikes?
Fraudia,
you missed NJ! :) We have a hugee desi community!! And like you said both good/bad, depends on who you meet...as with any culture. Anyways I am in Tri-State area in NJ and lemme tell you Edison has a huge desi bazaar...probably doesn't compare to Devon St though...khair we have yummy chat patti food spots...tonsss of halal establishments from fast food to high end restaurants of all sorts.
Pros:
Great Train/Subway system (I speak in terms of access to NYC and even the NJ Transit takes thru a good portion of NJ. Hardly any place you can NOT get to via bus/train. Esp good in terms of work.
NYC is easily accessible. Same good things as any big city - the nightlife, museums, activities galore, restaurants, plus NYC skyline/waterfront
Close to plenty of beaches within an hours drive, atlantic city/point pleasant can be fun in the summer. (Although CA beaches are muchhh nicer...but khair)
Great schools, from grammar schools to high schools to universities. (NYU, Princeton, Penn State...but Rutgers, NJIT & UMDNJ are pretty good as well.)
Like said before amazing diversity all across the board, you meet people from all walks of life. If I just count my close friends and a few acquaintances....I can count like at least 9-10 different nationalities.
Dislikes are the congestion, traffic galore. A 7 mile drive into NYC can sometimes take 1 hour or more depending on tunnel traffic!!!!!
Personal dislike is I have my WHOLEEEEEEEEEEEEE family...rather Khandaan living in close proximity...and that can get annoying...esp when you have nosy/gossipy cousins, albeit they aren't 1st cousins.
Weather - We get all 4 seasons, which is probably a plus...BUTTT in my ideal world, it would ALWAYS be around 60-75 degrees...no more no less.
:)
