I know young punks from all over Europe come here in the SUNNY WARM parts of USA…all the time:D…I had my cousins come in 2 weeks ago too…fun in the sun…though they just came for a day to the place that has the World’s Largest HONKY TONK:D..:stuck_out_tongue:
*Mostly Miami and houston for them…But texhaass is still all goood:snooty: *…we have Paris here too…:smiley: a bit south of dallas I think

I once visited Galvasten city/beach, TX with very high hopes. I liked the city (shopping area) because I like old buildings & stuff but the beach was :crying:

The suburbs of Dallas such as Plano seemed to be good for living plus SugarLand in Houston.
new freeways, new cities, Rice Uni - But Texas is boring sorry to say.

Austin, TX

One of the top 10 places to live, raise a family, work and one of the top three safest places in the US:

Likes:

  1. People: Some of the frendliest nicest people I've met anywhere.

  2. Food: While not as much variety as the big towns, but whatever we have we make it well. Supposedly people who can afford it have stuff flown in to Hollywood and NY from thier favourite Tex-Mex/BBQ/Burger joints in Austin. Whole Foods market was born in Austin!

  3. Surroundings: Austin is calm and serence in a way that reminds me of Islamabad (Being in the Texas Hill Country also helps!). It is springtime here and there are Blue Bonnets everywhere. The wild flowers here are a sight to be seen! Austin is surrounded by small farms (mostly organic) where you can go and buy fresh produce and dairy. Most of the grovery stores here sell home made goodies that are bought from small mom n pop concerns in the city or the surrounding areas.

Dislike:

  1. Growing city: Its expanding too fast with Suburbs popping up everywhere with the result that Austin which once prided itself on its locally owned businesses is fast losing out to chain stores. Even the local favourites are becoming "franchise-like" and losing thier uniqueness. "Keep Austin Wierd" was a way of life but now its becoming just a slogan on T shirts sold at the airport...

  2. August and September: You don't want to visit Austin in the pressure cooker months!!

You should really take a trip to Corpus Christi or Port Aransas (and South Padre Island). The Beaches are much better over there.

Twin Cities...

Likes:

  1. Get to see and enjoy all four seasons
  2. Good education both at school and post secondary level
  3. Good transport compared to Florida
  4. Metropolitan city, not like some boring dead suburbish city
  5. Big and fancy shopping malls
  6. Housing reasonable
  7. Big Muslim community
  8. Nice friendly people

Dislikes:

  1. Haven't come accross any desi
  2. Desi bazar is way too far
  3. No desi saloon
  4. Air travel is really hassle, very small airport, and offer very few non stop flights

twin cities are kewl, i spent a lot of time there for a project back in 2001-2002. I love the walkways that coonnect all the bldgs downtown.

I do prefer minneapolis over st paul though.

I hope you don’t mean “garam” (hot). Anyone in AZ must be used to 120’ of heat. The whole place is a friggin’ desert. Scottsdale is nice, though. Great golf courses :k: With, and I kid you not, air-conditioned golf carts :smiley:

Fraudz, I also like minneapolis better but I am stuck in St. Paul, atleast till my mom moves....

TORONTO, ON (a suburb actually but pretty much the same)

Likes
- Culturally diverse, including a large Muslim and desi population
- The diverse weathers are very nice (unlike Dubai where it's 40+ for more than half of the year)
- Pollution-free environment, especially here in my 'burb (mississauga)
- The downtown has a real "downtown" feel to it

Dislikes
- Although this doesn't count for everyone, my biggest dislike here is no relatives :(
- Life feels a bit too planned out (at least for a stayover guy like me); no spontaniety, unlike Dubai or Karachi
- Thug wannabes in oversized jeans and camouflage clothing sitting around the corner; looks like a really ugly scenario whenever I see it
- A handful of FOBs can be found just across the block

well then your geography is wrong, because from what i can tell niether houston nor chicago is to your west :stuck_out_tongue:

scottsdale is not even a real city, thats one place that makes dallas look like NYC :slight_smile: hell, it makes kansas city look like NYC.

hey I am more than willing to accept the weaknesses of my city, and I dont claim it to be the best city in the world or US, even in this thread i said that I consider NYC as a better city than chicago.

and personal likes and preferences are one thing, but when ppl claim their city .. like ponca city oklahoma or topeka, kansas or something like that is the best city, then I have to correct them. :)

I am just messing with people..its fun.
