West Indies tour/ Pak squad announced (Merged)

Re: Malik In or Out? Bazid Khan In?

they r gonna have a hell of a time replacing malik as one down position and i don't think malik did anything wrong.

Re: Malik In or Out? Bazid Khan In?

Amen to that brother. The thing is, Pro-Lahore PCB officials would never forgive him for doing this, although I don’t think they can afford to drop him as he is an important member of our team and is a future superstar.

Shoaib left out of squad, Moin returns

Cricinfo staff

April 30, 2005

Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Sami have been left out on fitness grounds for Pakistan’s tour of West Indies next month. In a surprise move, the selectors decided to bring back Moin Khan, the former captain, while Shabbir Ahmed also found a place despite his lacklustre performances in the Twenty20 domestic competetion.
Shoaib Malik was also picked despite the latest controversy surrounding forfeiting a domestic game. The squad will be officially announced on Monday after being ratified by the ad hoc committe.

The squad has been selected for the three one-day matches to be played on May 18 (at St Vincent) and for St Lucia’s double-header on May 21 and 22. If required, changes would be made in the team for the two Tests to be played at Barbados and Jamaica.

Paki Team Announed for WI tour???

Did someone read the news in cricinfo about the team announcement for WI tour http://content.cricinfo.com/pakistan/content/story/208367.html

I don’t think that PCB has announced the team yet for the tour. They were suppose to do it on Monday and before that they will be conducting shoiab akhtar and umer gul’ fitness teston sunday. Thats a different thinig that they might not get selected. They haven’t yet decided on shoaib malik’s case. He just presented on saturday in front of the commiittee to present his case. I have a feeling that there is a misunderstanding. Although cricinfo did mention in their report that official announcement will be made on monday and this is the likely squad but I have a feeling that the squad has been mixedup with the unofficial sheikh zyad cup squad. Cricinfo mentioned that moin is back but then in cricinfo’s squad you also see kamran akmal. What is the logic behind 2 keepers in the side for a short tour of WI unless and until you want moin as a batsmen whcih is highly likely. Akmal and moin were originally in the unofficial team whcih was announced for sheih zyad cup. Its confusion but i guess there is a misunderstanding somewhere. But then you never know with PCB. They say something and then do an opposite.

Re: West Indies tour (Merged)

So they left Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Sami, and Umar Gul. Oh well, at least Shabbir Ahmad is coming back.

Re: Paki Team Announed for WI tour???????

True the team announced does not make logic sense

Re: West Indies tour (Merged)

Sadly shoaib akther is not in the team announced, but Mashaallah nice team, good rewards for comback kidzz Moin Khan and Shahid Nazir, hopefully they will perform and stay put in Pakistan cricket team for a long time. :k:

Moin Khan has been omitted from the 17-man Pakistan squad for the tour of the West Indies. Moin had been picked by the selectors in the provisional squad announced on Saturday (April 30), but the squad was then sent for ratification to the Pakistan board, who decided to exclude him. The rest of the line-up remains the same.

The PCB have instead opted for Bazid Khan, a 24-year-old opener who has played two one-dayers so far. Bazid was in excellent form for Pakistan A during their recent tour of Sri Lanka, scoring 336 runs in three innings, including two centuries and a half-century in the two Tests.

Pakistan will play three one-day international and two Tests on the tour, with the first match to be held at St Vincent on May 18.

Pakistan squad
Salman Butt, Shahid Afridi, Bazid Khan, Yasir Hameed, Younis Khan, Inzamam-ul-Haq (capt), Yousuf Youhana, Asim Kamal, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal (wk), Abdul Razzaq, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Shabbir Ahmed, Shahid Nazir, Rao Iftikhar Anjum, Arshad Khan, Danish Kaneria.

Re: West Indies tour/ Pak squad announced (Merged)

So Gul and Akhtar are out.

Re: West Indies tour/ Pak squad announced (Merged)

Bazid Khan has made to the squad, hope he gets to play and prove his worth and Yasir is back :k: Malik still part of the team :k:

Re: West Indies tour/ Pak squad announced (Merged)

*Malik has been banned for one test match by PCB for throwing a match. He will therefore not play the first test match. *

Re: West Indies tour/ Pak squad announced (Merged)

^ unless you don't believe the list,,,,,,,

I'm not too sure about 'Arshad Khan'.
In the domestic setup we don't have any 'young' emerrging player who could have used this chance to enhance the spin bolwing 'piggy bank' ?

Bazid Khan inclusion is good and such decisions should be wisely taken to avoid wastage of new comers potential.

Re: West Indies tour/ Pak squad announced (Merged)

^^ then very likely both Bazid Khan and Yasir Hameed will get to play the first Test match.

Re: West Indies tour/ Pak squad announced (Merged)

^ I think Yasir Hameed is a chocker and a whinner, where as 'Bazid' I like to watch some more,,,

Re: West Indies tour/ Pak squad announced (Merged)

^ Do you mean Yasir can't play in pressure situation?

Re: West Indies tour/ Pak squad announced (Merged)

^ Yes that too,
I have seen him occupying the crease for good too many balls and then he gets out when the going gets tough. Mostly flaws on mental approach. He should play with less tense muscles and body posture. Aisay khailta hai jaisay ‘army ka march past’ hota hai..,
For fielding I should nail him to the 3rd man boundry where there’s less risk of drop catches,

Re: West Indies tour/ Pak squad announced (Merged)

If i recall correctly, you also thought that Mohammad Khalil and Mohamamd asif are going to be new super stars ?

Yasir is a quality batsman. A lot better than the likes of Taufeeq and Farhat and should be persisted with.

Re: West Indies tour/ Pak squad announced (Merged)

A very intelligent decision by PCB. They had the option of banning him for either two one dayers or for one test. He is not a certainity in test matches so they chose to play the odds :k:

Re: West Indies tour/ Pak squad announced (Merged)

-------------x----------------

Correct ! They were new 'lefties and full of energy to do well. Beyond this I never saw them play before, hence my thread to support them.

1st time I saw Bazid khan with U-16 play against India-U-16 at Lords and thought he was a bit of a laid back fielder and very ‘slow-moo’ style of a batsman, since then I don’t knwo how did he improve his game,it must be good I guess, but he does reminds me of his Pappaaa, thus no predictions from now on. :elmo:
